This was truly the worst Mexican food my boyfriend and I had ever had, and we have had a lot!; we are both over 40. Both our dishes were too salty and portions small & overpriced for Mexican food. Had it been really good food/service it would have justified the price. The service was also the worst we had ever experienced. It was imposible to get a waiter when we were first seated and next thing we knew he was gone - for the day! We waited a half an hour for our check and was even asked by the hostess, ""Why we were still there?"" as if kicking us out until I mentioned we still hadn't received the check yet to her surpise. I was appalled by the price - $90 for lunch! The check was not itemized; just amounts from a calcuator. So we had to go through it with a fine tooth comb and found an error. Also, I ordered a special from a blackboard that came with beans/rice but on the check the beans and rice were ala carte & had to pay for (not included) and had to pay more;we each only had 2 drinks. My boyfriend's beer was served in a glass with a big chip in it and was sour - I had never even heard of sour beer! He switched to a bottled beer. On the Border has much better food at a great price and has a nice atmosphere and good service. We were told the Mesa restaurant is much better, but since we had such a horrible experience at the Phoenix local we don't want to waste our money to see if Mesa local is better. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO ELSEWHERE!
