The University Bookstore offers a large selection of high quality merchandise. The staff is friendly, and sometimes you can find a good deal. However, you pay for the quality...many common items that you find in this store are substantially cheaper at other stores. As far as textbooks go, the University Bookstore probably has the largest selection of books, but shop around--you might find a better deal elsewhere. Look out for huge lines during the first week of classes each semester.
