Having lived in LB for over 20 years, growing up there and all that (still visit family regularly), it is a nice place. The surfing beach though, is Lincoln, not Neptune. And the cops are like the Gestapo if you ever want to bring a dog on the beach after hours. Best time to go? In the winter, early mornings. Leaving LB has made me appreciate the beach much more during the off-season. Also, when you get out of the train, walk a few blocks east or west to get away from the major crowds that flock straight down Edwards or National Blvds. For the best pizza, go to Gino's - directly across from the LIRR.
