I have eaten several times at both Castillo De Mexico on A1A in Jax Beach and the ""#1"" Mexican Restaurant in the Jacksonville area, La Nopalero.
They are BOTH excellent.
But Castillo De Mexico comes out a full cut above all the others on the basis of their food, which is always fresh, wonderfully prepared and generous of portion, and their Margaritas, which are to DIE for. The best Margarita in the city, bar none, and at a decent price, is Castillo De Mexico's ""Top Shelf"".
One ""con"" - we went there one weekend night where they had live music that was not Mariachi or in any other way Mexican.... in fact it was not in any way ""good"". A couple of guys with poor voices warbling top 20 songs of long ago over strummed guitars.
Pros: Best Margarita!, Excellent Food, Nice Location
Cons: Live music - painful, Sparse surroundings
