Golden Gate Park is probably a better place to get together with friends or take visitors, what with the arboretum and the Japanese Tea Garden and everything. Crissy field offers the most spectacular views though, including some of the best of the Golden Gate Bridge. It's striking shoreline landscape is my favorite place to walk in the city, when I just want to get away from the urban environment for awhile and unwind.
While parking would probably be difficult, it's surprisingly easy to get here via mass transit. Or just walk here from the Marina it's flat, and great light exercise. A free shuttle bus that travels around the Presidio (cleverly called the "Presidi-go") stops near Crissy Field (catch it at scenic Fort Point after your feet have given out). Its rambling trip through the Presidio is so lovely, they could charge $5 and garner full loads of tourists.
Pros: Inexpensive, The View, Relaxing
Cons: Parking
