A simply amazing resort in an amazing location; skiing on the edge. Great snow, minimal crowds, phenomenal views; ""overlooks"" four 10k+ foot mountains, inasmuch as you CAN overlook a 10k foot mountain. The terrain is intricate, challenging, and simply a blast to explore--an extinct volcano. Lift lines nonexistent. Bend, OR a charming little town with all the amenities and a great frontier feel. The catch: difficult/expensive to reach, and the summit is often closed due to wind.
Pros: Vast terrain, Incredible views, Great snow
Cons: Travel expensive, Lodging 20 min away, Summit often closed
