LaFata Cabinets

I purchased my home as a model in 1996. I was proud to have LaFata oak cabinets. They were beautiful inside and out like a piece of well crafted furniture. 21 years later I'm updating my kitchen and move the fridge into the pantry which allows me to add a 36 inch cabinet only because these cabinets still look new. My 22 year old son, who is a pre-med student at Wayne State University went into the Lafata showroom to inquire about having an additional lower cabinet made and was literally blown off by the sales staff. We don't make THOSE cabinets anymore. Go down the street to Ross cabinets and maybe they will help you. then walked away. I'm not bragging anymore about LaFata. The word around Chesterfield from other kitchen and bath construction companies is that LaFata is hard to get a hold of, they don't return calls, and are severely backed up because they lost a lot of "illegal" employees.....when my son graduates, I know he wont be using LaFata Cabinets. BTW I did order my cabinet at a shop in New Baltimore at almost half the price as Ross quoted to be delivered in half the time. pretty sure a hair dryer will peal off those LaFata stickers... more

We are very satisfied with the cabinets overall. We do wish we could have got the cabinets sooner, but since they are custom made the lead time was expected. I can happily say they were definitely worth the wait! The quality is just as promised, and they make my kitchen look so rich. more

I am extremely satisfied with my LaFata Cabinets! I am not an expert with cabinets, but the sales people were very helpful. With their knowledge they were able to guide me into finding the right cabinets for me, and they turned out just as I wanted. The service was great, along with the delivery and installers. Went to factory,looked at displays and charmed by "Sales Person" with perceived quality (Plywood construction) Awsome ! Ordered complete kitchen (Well over $20k w/no installation). Received cabinetry made primarily with Particle/Furniture board, Hot Glued together (like Big Box stores) gussets and all ! Finish nail protruding through the finished interior side of the Microwave cabinet ( very impressive ), gussets and other joints missed (Not hot glued),hinge screws driven in at angles , loose and missing , staples in wood on 1 side and in Air on other or in split "Wood Product"(Chunks missing) But at least the Stain job was very nice (That person must have some Pride) although the Glazing wants to wear off quite quickly in spots (fix that just like New with a Black marker easy) . Moral of the Day : This Friend will Not let his friends buy La Fata ! more

went in with intentions for a kitchen remodel never greeted by anyone ,when sales staff was finished with customer they walked away went behind closed doors never said a word that showed me total lack of professional staff i walked out never to go back again ! more

My wife and I are delighted with the way our kitchen turned out. When it came time to decide on cabinets for our new home, LaFata Cabinets was an easy choice since we had them in our old house and they held up fantastically for over 10 years!! Customer service was very friendly for us, and always got back to us the same day for any questions. We would recommend Lafata to anybody more

I decided to go with Lafata to have them build a built-in book case for me, what a mistake. The craftsmanship was terrible. There were mismatched boards, boards that were not polyurethaned correctly, the stain was off, etc. I ordered the bookcase is March and it is now August and it is still not correct. I have had one of the owners come out and he even said it wasn't done right, but at this point I cannot get anyone to call me back, anyone to address my issues. I guess that the $20k I spent with Lafata doesn't put me in the good customer range! more

We purchased our cabinets from LaFata Cabinets and are very pleased with the results. We took our kitchen plan into the showroom and described what we were looking for and the staff was very helpful. We had a budget we wanted to stick too and they were able to get some of the things we wanted and keep us within our budget. The cabinets & granite tops are beautiful. We have already referred family & friends to LaFata for their cabinet needs. more

I would rate the cabinets a five star, but because of the follow up of customer service, I need to stay with the lowest star available. We had used LaFata cabinets in 3 different houses. However in the most recent, we have a defective finish on the cabinet. We believe it may be under the top finish, but the person that they recommended to come out never returns his calls. We left at least 6 messages to no avail. Lafata did offer to give us a good price on a replacement, but should not have to pay for something that might be the fault of the manufacturer. more

We have cherry cabinets with a finish that has not held up. The cabinets are 6 yrs. old. The cabinet finish is soft & dull. We had another cabinet finisher look @ them & he felt it was an poor quality finish that was applied. When we took a door to the Hayes Rd. office they told us we had ruined the finish & the cabinet finisher we talked with "didn't know ----". And that's a quote. They were rude & didn't take responsibility for any issue. We had caused the problem. They may believe they are #1 in MI cabinet making but they are non-existent in customer service. An extremely disappointing conversation & zero help. more

the most absurd rude people I have ever dealt with poor customer service bad workmen ship the owner is rude cares only about the $ cant get the same answer twice for anyone there they hire unskilled workers refuse to stand behind there work they think being rude to you and not returning your calls will make you give up I had a appointment with the owner to come and see for his self the awful job his so called workers did he never showed up nor called I have been going thru this since April!! I will never recommend this company to any one I went with this company because of its past reputation that no longer exist they think they are better than anyone and they clearly do not care about customer satisfaction It is very heart-rending to see a company built by hard work so many years ago and then the original owner retires and the next in line to take over just don't care he thinks he can run it on past reputation but this is catching up fast in today's world of social media I wished I would of checked them out first I would of never hired them and from what I see so many people have the same complaints I have and I have even went and talked to some new house builders who are not satisfied with there quality and customer service . I have learned a pretty expensive lesson not to make a decision on past reputation I will do my research the next time I saw one review that said run don't walk away Lafatta that is my recommendation also. to sum it up Poor Quality Poor Workmanship and they worst Customer Service I have ever seen the worst being the Owner.The only reason I gave a star is because I had to to post my review. more

We recently completed a significant remodel of our kitchen. Overall, it took 6 months to complete due to many errors / damage by Lafata subcontractors. Contractors showed up without adequate tools to complete job and as a result damaged previously installed work. Tile was installed improperly by so called professionals. With cabinets installed, no fix was available other than to live with the improper tile installation. I would not recommend using Lafata even if they are cost competitive. more

Purchased a home with Lafata cabinets in the kitchen. The sink base needed to be repaired do to the previous owners neglect. Although I considered repairing myself, I looked into having the factory make a new one. I took the old base and doors to the store to see what they could do with what I had. Was given a quote (not cheap) to build it. I picked it up, and low and behold, they built it with the wrong size doors. Emailed/called repeatedly with the salesperson. No response. They might be nice cabinets, but the customer support and character of this operation is suspect. more

The cabinets are beautiful. The installer did a great job. Installation of the cabinets and the counter top was fast and everything looks great. I recommend you to anyone that is interested in doing home remodeling. more

I would recommend Lafata for kitchen cabinets. My wife and I worked with Brooke at Lafata. We found her to be helpful, friendly, and professional. My wife said Vince came out to take the measurements and again he was helpful, friendly and professional. We were looking for a good quality mid-grade cabinet at a good price and I believe Lafata provides that. They were actually a couple hundred dollars cheaper than the other company we were comparing. Lafata had a little better price on the cabinet pulls and knobs also. Another plus is that Lafata provides custom sizes for the price of standard cabinets. We went with the other company only because that designer had spent a lot of time creating our kitchen design and it is only fair that that time is worth a couple hundred dollars. If we had started with Lafata I’m sure we would have purchased from them. more

Outstanding again. Brooke was an outstanding person to work with. We have shown all three bathrooms in our home that have LaFata cabinets to neighbors and friends. more
