The most romantic room my husband and I have ever had. We stayed in the hot tub room with wood burning fire place. The hot tub is on a brick patio outside this overlooks the vineyard and mountains. YOu just take several steps down from your patio and you are in the actual vines. lovely in early December with the fall leaves on the vines
The room is very large with the largest wood burning fireplace I have ever seen. Request room 203--the receptionist told me it is his favorite room upon check in and we loved it. Last nite my hubby and I had such a romantic evening by the wood burning fireplace (wood supplied free of charge by the hotel) and the jacuzzi outside. It is so private out on your patio you can easily sit out in the lounge chair or go in the hot tub in your birthday suit.
The complimentary breakfast is very hearty and has a wide assortment.
The lobby is so beautiful with all the wood and fireplaces. The grounds are stunning.
If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing, romantic hotel with lots of unique charm then this is your bet. The hot tub room has got to be the best value in Napa Valley. The experience is truly amazing. You don't want to leave your romantic spacious room--you just want to nestle up with your honey.
Pros: hot tub, views of the vineyard and mountains, unique charm of the inn, fireplace in room, hearty breakfast, spacious room
Cons: The showerhead could be better

This place is a real hoot but the Ports are fantastic. The tasting room is off of a dusty little road. When you see the tasting room you'd never expect to taste what you will if you wander inside. On your way to the tasting room you'll pass barrels full of ageing port. The tasting room is small and cozy with currency from around the world stapled on the walls and ceilings. It's a change from the typical tasting rooms. Ask to see the first web site operating on windows. They have it here. You'll love it. The ports are exceptional and several of them can be put down for additional years. Be sure that you try their white port. They also have a 2 room B&B.
Pros: Small, personable and unique

What a great surprise this placed turned out to be for us! The location is probably the best in all of Napa Valley if you really want to be in the Wine Country -- we took a walking tour the first afternoon we arrived and made it to White Hall Lane across the street, Franciscan across the other direction, Rutherford Grove on a short trek through the neighboring vineyard and then over to Alpha Omega. They are so close that you can get to each in a couple of minutes.
Back at the Ink House we had a blast with the other guests as appetizers were served and Heitz showed up to pour -- although we were already warmed up a bit -- and had so much fun that 2 other couples that we just met went out to dinner with us to the Rutherford Grill after Rachel, the innkeeper, pulled some strings to get us a table. We ended the evening playing pool in the basement game room.
Our room, the French Room, was spacious, clean, fitted out in sturdy antiques and very quiet as this old mansion is built like a battleship. The bathroom looks re-done recently as the tile and paint seemed brand new and it was good sized. The neat thing about the room is that Elvis Presley stayed there for a month in the early 1960s while filming a movie in Napa -- same bed and furniture. A champagne breakfast was served that was more food than we expected and included an egg dish, fancy hasbrowns, fruit, home-made banana bread, and coffee.
The staff made us reservations for dinner the next night, and for a balloon ride the second morning (fabulous, but you get up pretty darn early). We also had fun exploring the grounds of about 4-5 acres including a vineyard, grand lawns and gardens, olive orchard, gigantic old barn, and even a regulation horseshoe pitch!
It's way more affordable than the fancy places and lots more fun. We have already made reservations to go back in October during the crush and plan on making this our regular Napa Valley headquarters for our future wine county adventures.
Pros: Food, Wineries pouring on site, surrounded by wineries, price, historic mansion & grounds,
Cons: No internet access

White Sulfur Springs Spa and Inn offers a range of spa treatments at reasonable prices. My sister and I first visited White Sulfur Springs Spa & Inn when we took our mother here for Mother's Day for her very first spa treatment ever. The experience was so wonderful the first time that we returned the following year with my husband for his first Father's Day and his very first spa treatment as well.
The spa treatment included the use of their sulfur pool, jacuzzi, and heated pool for the day, so bring your swim suit, pack a lunch and some snacks, and plan to stay for awhile. We've never stayed at the inn nor did we ever get a chance to utilize their sulfur pool the two times we were there. (Note: It smelled like rotten eggs and we couldn't take the smell for long) We did however utilize their large jacuzzi and heated pool. At the time of year we visited, we had the pool and jacuzzi area all to ourselves which was very nice. We felt like we were relaxing in our own backyard.
We found the spa to be very clean, the staff and massage therapists to be very friendly and professional. Overall, the experience was great and reasonably priced for the quality of service we received.
The Napa Premium Outlet and Saint Helena Premier Outlets are close by. After your spa treatment and some relaxation by the pool, you can do a little shopping.
PROS: Day Use of Pool & Jacuzzi; close to premium shopping outlets
CONS: None

I've just returned from my 3rd visit to the Wine Country Inn in 3 years and already miss it. The WCI is everything I love about a bed & breakfast type hotel (comfortable yet stylish accommodations, conveniently located, personal recommendations on what to do & see, etc.) but none of the things I dislike . Their breakfasts are wonderful - no going hungry here! Each morning they have a different (delicious!) egg souffle to try, plus make it yourself waffles, cereals, amazing homemade granola, fresh fruit, home-made muffins, etc. You serve yourself, so breakfast is at your pace. Tables abound through the large comfortable dining area, which includes an outdoor seating area overlooking the vineyards. Engaging with other guests is at your discretion &certainly not forced (as some B&B's are known to do). Each afternoon a local vintner is invited in to provide a wine tasting for guests and a large spread of tempting appetizers are provided. (Caution - the apps are so good it is possible to ruin your dinner - and w/ all the amazing restaurants in the area - you'll want limit your intake of apps).
The grounds of the WCI are absolutely stunning. The property is nestled into a vineyard and nearly every view overlooks part of the vineyard. The accommodations range from small, but serviceable (and tastefully appointed) rooms to cottages with large private terraces.
The staff is extremely friendly and will go out of there way to make sure all of your needs are met. After just the first visit you're made to feel like family. Joyce on the evening shift is one of my personal favorites.
The WCI also offers a wonderful amenity - evening taxi service to a rather extensive list of local restaurants. After a day of wine tasting, not having to drive is more than just a luxury. Janelle the primary driver is loads of fun with lots of stories.
If you visit, look out for "Bob" the Cat, a super-friendly Manx who just adds to the overall hominess.
Pros: Setting, Staff, Breakfast, Taxi-service

My husband and I stayed here for a week while on vacation. The rooms were large, all suite and very comfortable. Down comforters and four poster beds. There is separate living room with a fridge and fireplace in each unit. They had the best homemade granola each morning for breakfast. The location is on the north end of Hwy 29 in St. Helena.
