I brought my Children to The Music School all the way up to college until moved away. The Music School helped my kids become great musicians and aided in their development of discipline and diligence. This is the place where children can get a first rate education in music and all the encouragement needed to be successful in life! THANK YOU to The Music School El Cajon!

A great, all girls, private school in El Cajon. It's been around since I was a youngster and great kids have come out of this school. The school is definitely expensive but your childs education is worth it. The girls wear the traditional school uniforms and alter it to their personality.
All the parents that I've talked to that have had kids go through the school, really enjoyed the experience. The teachers are the same as in public school, you get some winners and some that aren't so much.

As a graduate from Granite Hills, I can honestly say I got the most out of my education there and it paid off quite well as I am entering medical school this Fall to specialize in family medicine. Granite Hills is a known powerhouse in baseball, soccer, tennis, and water polo, but is lacking in football and basketball stars.

This high school has a very diverse student body and faculty. While it's rumored to be "dangerous" or "unsafe" because of gang activity, I felt absolutely safe all four years I attended, even though Santana and Granite Hills both had school shootings.
The drama department is excellent, headed by John Barnes. The program truly focuses on teaching students all aspects of putting on a show and making sure everyone participates in different aspects.
The Braves football team has its off years, but this past year they did an incredible job. Definitely worth checking out.

If you're living in the La Mesa area and you must attend public schooling, then GUHSD is a pretty good district. It's not perfect (as most districts aren't) but they certainly try hard. The district is in a good and safe neighborhood and this makes for upper middle class kids. If I needed to put my kids in public schooling, I would have no problem having them attend this district.

This is a wacky place that's been in El Cajon for years. It's basically a church for people interested in science. They have some odd events during the year that involves people dressing up in strange costumes and doing weird things to their vehicles. Whenever they have an event the news media covers the story and you see all the interesting goings on.
It's not my thing but it must be to some people because it's been in existence in the same lcoation for at least 30 years. It's in an alright part of town and they do sell books, dvds, tapes, etc.

I have not been pleased with the way certain incidents were handled at this school. I have seen teachers not paying enough attention to the children during play ( such as a child tyeing a jump rope to the top bar on the slide and trying to pull himself up and two other kids trying to scale the fence while a teacher gabbed with a fellow teacher). My son recently passed out at school and only one parent was called and the other was left in the dark about what was going on and contacted by the child's Doctor to be informed of his sever Dehydration. CPS wasn't even contacted even thought the school knew of the abuse suffered by the two children who attended there. These kids were told to pray about the atrocity they suffered. this school also has in the past employed an ex-drug addict newly in recovery who the state wont even give her more than weekend custody of her own child. i don't even think that this school should be open anymore. It doesn't look out for the welfare of it's children and only after the money in its pocket.
