This is a long standing tradition in Defiance. The decor reminds you of an old time building-tin ceiling and huge bar that runs the length of the first floor. There is a banquet room upstairs that can be rented for parties. There is seating at the bar and then several tables and chairs throughout the downstairs room. Staff is friendly and the bar is always clean. The one drawback is that it is sometimes smoke-filled, although not as much as it used to be. Breakfasts are wonderful-omelets, eggs and the infamous brain sandwich. Lunch and dinner are also served and each week the menu appears in the Sunday paper with daily specials. Food is very good and prices are reasonable. They have the traditional green beer on St. Patrick's Day. The bar is an old-fashioned one-huge and well polished. Parking is along the street. It is at an intersection so it is usually;y easy access-parking is parallel. It is located at the end of the downtown business district. Its reputation is well know throughout the area. Locally owned and operated by the same family that began the business.

Charlie's Down Under is a restaurant located in downtown Defiance. It has a long history of fine dining with good service and excellent food. It has had different names and owners int he past but the current owner continues the tradition. there is a bar and booth area when you enter the restaurant-down the stairs but an elevator is available through the adjoining store which is owned by the same person. There are 4 rooms-w of which can be used as private dining rooms for parties or special occasions. Lunch is served with a daily special-sandwiches, soups, salads and of course pie-Pie is what makes the restaurant outstanding. They are baked fresh daily and are very tempting-YOu can purchase a half-slice or whole slice or whole pies can be ordered. Cost of lunch is between $5 and $10.
Dinner menus include steak, fish and specials. These run from $12-$20 or higher. Fine wine is also available. Service is excellent and very friendly. the owner will move around the room greeting people and making sure all is well. He offers many services to the community and is very much in volunteerism. Int he summer on Fridays,he cooks outside along the street and you can get a very nice lunch for $5. Parking is along the street and is ample. You can make reservations if you wish and if you have special dietary needs, he will make sure that these are met.

Hot Rice is a good place when you are in the mood for not so exotic chinese cuisine. They have a mildy large selection and if your getting something from their buffet its delicious. I would recommend this place. I would not recommend the shrimp.

Bud's Restaurant has been open for many years and is especially known for its pies. You can order a piece to eat or order a whole pie to take home or for special occasions. The restaurant is located downtown across from the courthouse and is especially known for breakfast menu. It is a tiny space but is usually packed. There is a full menu for breakfast with eggs, omelets, pancakes and other offerings. The prices are reasonable and the food is excellent. You can see know whenever you go in. The restaurant is clean and the staff is very friendly. It is always recommended to new people when they come to town and even though it is a small restaurant they do an excellent business and are known throughout the region. the decor is simple.

This restaurant is located south of town along the river at a major bridge crossing and 2 highways. the restaurant was remodeled a few years ago and is very attractive and homey. there is ample parking by the restaurant. It is also located near a golf club so has a steady repeat group of customers. Each week they print their specials in the local paper. The restaurant is clean and well maintained. food is reasonably priced. The staff is friendly and very courteous. The food is family style and items include those that you remember from home. Customers come from several nearby communities. The hours are very conducive to meals and you feel as though you are welcome.

This restaurant serves buffet style and is very popular in town. It is located on the est side of town. The parking area is very large since it is part of a strip mall. the restaurant stands alone at the end of the mall. There is a wide range and variety of food. the prices are reasonable and the service is very good. Many repeat customers go back because of the food. There is a large variety of dishes on the buffet and if you have questions about any of the food, the staff will assist you. The restaurant has been in business many years and has a good reputation for good food. What ever your fortune cookie says, the best fortune you can have is to choose to dine here.

This resturant has very good food on thier menu for lunch and dinner!! They also serve chips and homemade salsa prior to your meal which is also excellent. They have fast and friendly service and a very family friendly environment.

I think that par 4 has such delicious food, there food is always thoroughly cooked and has fresh vegetables when required. Now don't get me wrong the food is great but the staff is not very courteous at all they actually look angry when you go to their counter to order your food, like you are bothering them. Which is terrible. but because the food is one of the best in defiance, I would have to recommend them to friends and family to give a try.
