I took my son- who is in 2nd grade- there last Saturday at around 5:30PM, after he had been ill for about 2 days. He had vomited a few times, and wouldn't eat much. There was only 1 other person in the waiting area and the office was very quiet.
When we went to the front window, the short heavyset woman was on the phone behind the window with the parent of a child who apparently had an earache. A few minutes after the phone call ended she walked back to tell her coworkers about the call and said (I'm quoting here) "I tried to discourage her from coming in..." apparently this sick child was not a priority for these folks.
After being taken back to the exam room and waiting about 30 minutes- even though there were no other patients- Dr. Munson came to speak to me and while trying to tell her what happened, she interrupted to say "and you're just now bringing him in" as if I had been lax in the care or judgement of my son's health. I was very insulted as I had not even finished explaining, not to mention being tired and worried about my son.
The final insult came when a young lady came to take blood- which I thought might be a bit drastic, but I wanted to make sure my son was ok- and instead of trying to ease my son's fears, she spoke to him as if he were 15 instead of 6. She proceeded to take her shoes off in the room and manhandled my son's small arms with a rubber band type apparatus to find his veins. At this point my son was almost hysterical and terrified of the needle (that she wisely showed him!), so I had to lay him on the table and hold him down. She stuck the needle in his little arm and I could see her twisting it around. This hurt my son very much but then she took out the needle, only to re-stick the arm and do it again.
At that point, I became hysterical and stopped the whole fiasco.
I marched up to the front, and in a probably not so quiet voice, let everyone there know how unprofessional and absolutely appalled I was with that facility. I ended paying $67 for my son to get a bruised arm, for me to get insulted and NO MEDICAL CARE.
I will not return to that office, nor would I recommend anyone else go.
