The Super Nacho's are out of this world, no one makes them better then Xoc's. And their Amaretto Organe Bloosoms are fantastic, i would love the recipe. Yeah the decor has not cha...

Worst

Sorry but have been very disappointed in this restaurant on last 2 visits. Food was not as good as in the past. We've been going here for years and have switched to Mexican Villag...

Absolutely the best ever!! 1/16/2008

I have been going here since I was 12 and I'm now 31 and it's still my all time favorite Mexican food. Service is quick, Food is awsome, and the drinks......if you're getting a mixed drink let's just say make sure to not be driving home. Would be better to have it in a better area of the city but I will never stop going here. Pros: Service, food, and drinks Cons: neighborhood more

Xochi's rules! 7/7/2007

xochi's has been my favorite detroit eatery for over 20 years! always get the ""flaming cheese"" it is wonderful. the chips and salsa are the finest anywhere (mild salsa is the best!) much of the same staff has been there for decades and tthey are always hospitable. live in maine now and still dash to xochi's whenever i am near detroit! more

Eh...wasn't impressed 5/6/2007

Once at work I was invited to go to ""Mexican Village"" which to those that know of the place, there's actually a rest. called Mexican Village on Bagley on the other side of the expressway from this place. When we arrived I tried to give it a chance, I really did. We went and sat upstairs and I thought the place smelt horrible, I couldn't pin-point the smell but it was musty. Yuck. The food was okay but not even close to Mexican Village, I would never go again when I know the heaven sent Mexican food is just across the expressway. Pros: Cheap more

Best mexican food in detroit 11/11/2006

Xochimilco's is sooo good!!!!!!!! The food is always good and the chips are always hot. They have some of the best margaritas in Detroit. It's a pretty good place to go for lunch, dinner, after work, or for date night. I have never been disappointed by their service either. Pros: Great mexican food, margaritas Cons: kinda dark and dingy feeling more

Best Mexican Food 10/23/2006

Kept hearing how great this place was and finally got to go. Margaritas were awesome and not stingy either, food was hot and quick. We went on a Saturday afternoon before the dinner rush and no waiting at all - perfect! Pros: Casual, fast, hot and good Cons: downtown detroit area not the best more

Favorite Authentic Mexican Restaurant in MI! 10/22/2006

I'd highly recommmend Xochimilco (Sow-she-mo-ko) if you're looking for authentic mexican food! They have delicious tacos, LOVE the chips & salsa & the cheese/sausage appetizer dip is highly recommended! They have a good variety of combo meals to choose from & excellent burritos! The downside is the area, it's in a run-down, but unique, part of Detroit - Mexican Village. It's an older restaurant, definitely casual dining, has a dingy atmosphere (dark lighting w/ cut up rooms), but it's large enough to accomodate a large group (with kids). Parking always tends to be limited also. It's a small lot & this restaurant always seems to have a crowd - it's definitely worth venturing to Detroit to taste for yourself! Pros: Cheap, authentic Mexican Food Cons: Not the best area, parking can be limited, dingy atmosphere. more

Basement prices...and atmosphere 9/16/2006

Xochi's is just OK. There is much better Mexican food within a few blocks, but the service is quick and the prices are low. Atmosphere: You're in someone's dark, damp basement and the shag rug seems to growing something. Eat upstairs if at all possible. more

Great food, Great service, Great prices! 8/30/2006

I couldn't say enough good things about Xochimilco's! My parents used to take me when I was a little girl, I'm in my 20s now and have continued to make it a regular stop whenever I'm in the city! The portions are HUGE (always plenty to take home for lunch the next day), service has always been outstanding, and you simply cannot beat the prices! The environment is fun, sure it could stand to be updated a little bit - but who cares! To be honest, I sort of like that it hasn't changed. I've never had a problem with parking, there is a huge lot right behind, and plenty of parking on the streets within a couple blocks.\r \r I recomend Xochimilco's whenever I get the chance. If you are ever near this unique neighborhood in Detroit you should deffinetly check out this local eatery. It's a can't miss of Detroit!\r \r Be careful when you leave though, or you might end up in Windsor! Pros: atmosphere, service, value Cons: confusing location next to the Ambassador bridge more

Good Mexican but take the tumtums 8/4/2006

Its good mexican food but EVERYTIME I go there I end up with a stomach ache... So do all my co-workers. I think it should look cleaner then what it is. Its good, don't get me wrong - and cheap but who knows how clean it really is. more

the best bang for the buck. 5/11/2006

you can t get better then this. its authentic mexican food. the best drinks, great service, i love this place. more

One of my favorites 11/7/2005

This is the best mexican food around. They have great lunch specials ($3.50 for plenty of food, along with the complimentary chips and salsa). The chips are still hot from cooking. I've never waited longer than 10 mins for my food. Great for a power lunch. Also good late night on the trip home from the bar... Pros: inexpensive, authentic, great food more

When I am in town......i have to visit!!! 9/9/2005

I grew up in Detroit! I now live in Tennessee & have been down in the south for 15 years. When ever I am back home this has often been my 1st stop! I love the food!! Being Mexican I truly love the authentic cuisine!! My favorite is the Chicken & Mole'!! But i can eat something off everyone's plate to get the tastes!!! I love the picture wall! My kids are on there & we always find their pics!...I have a few places that I absolutely HAVE to visit & Xochimilco's is one of them!!! Xochimilco's/Coney dogs/E & L store & Telway's are my stops!!! And while I'm down on Bagley I have to walk across the street & get fresh tamale's! Now I'm hungry for Xochimilco's....might have to make a long trip! :) Pros: food/service, friendly staff, inexpensive Cons: always crowded, parking full more

My favorite mexican resturant 5/26/2005

Xochimilco's is THE best, period.I have tasted mexican food from different restaurants, and nothing can compare to this place. The prices are very reasonable for singles, marrieds, and families. This restaurant is definetly a place to take your date, and or significant other. more

A Favorite for years!! 5/18/2005

I have been going to this place since my husband & I starting dating 14 years ago. The menu hasn't changed but doesn't need to. The food is always served hot and you don't have to wait. The chips & salsa are the best (hot & fresh, too)! The lunch menu is great. Nothing over $3.50 plus you get free chips & salsa. Pros: Quick Service, Hot food, Inexpensive Cons: Need to update decor more

I enjoyed the food I ordered. 3/12/2005

I ordered beef enchiladas for the first time last night at this restaurant. I was really impressed. The food was tasty, fresh and inexpensive. The waitstaff were friendly and efficient. I would recommend this restaurant to most people. Pros: Good Food, Fast service, Inexpensive Cons: Narrow parking lot, Small and crampy, Needs more lighting more

Xochimilco is your place 12/31/2004

If you are tring to decide which resturant to go to in this little village, stop thinking a drive directly to Xochi. This is one of the best resturants in Detroit. I say this after driving to the area from Battle Creek over 2 1/2 hours every Sunday for this treat. There prices are great and the food is even better. Service ...Fast that is all I can say. They say it isn't a date spot, but I have to disagree not only can you start a great date at Xochi, but you get the night started off right with a cheap meal that leaves more money for other fun things. My Fiancee' and I actually have it planned that we cater our reherasal from Xochi. It has been part of our relationship since day one. Thanks for a great place to Eat I highly recommend it,,,.... 5 Stars. Pros: Service, Chips and Salsa, Price Cons: , A bit of a Drive, I love it. more

Best this side of the border! 9/1/2004

I have been coming to Xochi's for years, and there is definitely no other Mexican restaurant that compares. The Flaming Cheese is a must-have appetizer, and the burritos and enchiladas are amazing. Order the Super Burrito only if you haven't eaten all day...it is what it says it is! Reasonably priced and great for birthdays or other celebrations, this restaurant will not disappoint! Pros: Reasaonably priced, great food selection, terrific service Cons: , long wait at dinner more

The Absolute Best 9/1/2004

Having traveled extensively throughout Mexico & the southwest , I have dined at 100's of Mexican Restaurants. Xochimilco is the best Mexican Restaurant in Michigan. I rank this Restaurant #3 in the United States, & in the top 10 of all of the Mexican Restaurant's that I've dined in. There isn't anything on the menu that I wouldn't recommend. The Guacamole is to die for. Service is prompt, they start you off with some fresh tortilla chips along with hot & mild salsa. Portion's are huge!! The only drawback is location, if your not carefull when you leave you might be taking a trip to Canada across the Ambassador bridge. The overall ambiance is that of a Mexican Cantina. Reservations: I travel about 25 miles to get there & I go there at least once every two weeks. I have never waited more than ten minutes for a table. Pros: Excellent Food, Prompt Service, Low Prices more

Fajitas 5/22/2004

Xochi's has absolutely the best chicken fajitas you will find in any restaurant. The amount of food is enough for two people at a cost that is a couple of $'s less than any of the competition. I have been eating at Xochi's regularly for about 13 years. Thanks more

fav. so far 5/22/2004

tried other mexican village restaurant , much preferred xochis' style of food and great menu.botanas will feed an army! on my last visit I thought the margaritas weren't as good as before, but I still love the food. We always go with a group and have a ball!!! Pros: inexpensive, great food, great service more
