Hello I'm the GM of the new Village Tavern, come check us out. The place is brand new on the inside. It has been completely renovated. There is new ownership, management, and staff. The food is amazing and we are committed to being the best live music venue in Charleston. Please come check us out. Mon, Tues, and Wed are acoustic nights, cover is only $2. Starting Nov 29th we will have $2 house liquor on acoustic nights! Thurs, Fri, and Sat we will have 2 bands each night with only a $5 cover! Show up before 8PM any night and pay no cover. Monday-Saturday extended happy hour (1 dollar off our already low priced food and alcoholic beverages) 4PM till 7:30. more

I don't think the whole story is being portrayed here. If your band were there at 7 p.m. you would have seen me there. I don't show up late like alot of bands do. I take pride in what I do. I don't think I would have been running sound there for six years if what you say were the case. The first time I saw you guys was a little after 10 p.m., not 9 p.m. like you say. I know if I was playing a show I would want to talk to the Sound Engineer or the Owner, not the Bartender. I already had the first act on stage playing with three more to go after that. So, no, I could not fit you in because of your tardiness. It even says in the e-mail below what time load in and sound check is. Where were you guys when all of this was taking place. Could it be that you guys were in such a hurry to get to the beach that you bolted before taking care of the business at hand? I think that shows what kind of professionalism was being portrayed. I think any Sound Engineer in America would have done the same with you guys showing up as late as your ""band"". Instead of wasting your time writing bad reviews you should focus more on your watch. We try to welcome all Bands with open arms because there are not that many places left to play in Charleston. I'll close with something my Father always said: ""Poor planning on your part does not create an emergency on mine""! Good Luck in the future and treat people as you would like to be treated! The owner of the village tavern is really rude and the doorman (jeff I'm assuming) can be at times. I'm really sorry that happened to you.\r But actually, the tav changed ownership and now the original owner (the one you dealt with) only does booking now.\r \r Again I'm reallly sorry that happened to you. My band was scheduled to play the Village Tavern, we are from Brooklyn, NY and booked the show for our recent trip down South. We only booked three shows, one in Athens, one in Atlanta and then one in Mt Pleasant at the Village Tavern. It was pretty important to us that we play the show, since is was one of only three shows. And while it was on the way back from GA to NY we still went out of the way to get there and on top of that we got a room in Mt Pleasant which isn't cheap since it's near the beach. We arrived at 7:00 pm to load in (as instructed in our confirmation email from the owner- see below) and we were told by the bartender that the sound guy wouldn't be there for another hour and a half and that we should come back later ""whatever time around 9 or 10"". We left and came back around 9 pm. The sound guy was totally rude to us and then owner said we couldn't play since we weren't confirmed. When we pulled up the confirmation email he had sent us he he shrugged and said there was nothing he could do. He said the sound guy wouldn't stay for us. When we pointed out that our set is only 30-35 minutes and that we were only a duo he still said we couldn't play. We also pointed out how much money and effort we spent getting there for the show (the show that was confirmed BY HIM) he still said tough, we couldn't play. \r \r Then we found out he had done the same to two other bands that same night.\r \r Here is a copy of his confirmation email: ""hey edge, whats up, load in time is at 7 o clock, soundcheck is between 8 and 9- the first set will start at ten o clock. thanks , d drew""\r \r I am writing this to warn other bands NOT to book at the Village Tavern, it's not worth getting screwed over by this rude and unprofessional owner.
