Viking is extremely pricey and poor quality 1/20/2011

Since my new reasearch is limiterd to just 3 items I picked: kniffe sharpers, choppping boards and salt and pepper shaker, something we all have used. I purchased similiar items from the Viking store and 2 major chains. more

A MAJOR RIP OFF: VIKING RANGES. BUYER BEWARE 1/19/2011

We had purcahsed a viking range.. big mistake. One of the burners worked only half the time, and the other two gave off un uneven cooking height, which when we complained, they said was normal. We called an expert in and we wert told it was a manufacturing defect. when we called Viking back, they told us it was past the warranty date and we would have to live with it.. more

STAY AWAY FROM THE VIKING STORE IN FRANKLIN TN AL ALL COST 1/18/2011

MY HUSBAND AND I WENT TO LOOK FOR SOME POTS LAST WEEK. WE WENT OVER TO THE VIKING STORE AT THE FACTORY ON SUNUDAY JAN 16, 2011 AT 3:10 PM TO PURCHASE THEM, AS WE NEEDED THEM SUNDAY NIGHT. WE CALLED TO SEE WHAT THE SUNDAY HOURS WERE AND WERE TOLD 12-4. THE SIGN ON THE OUTSIDE DOOR ALSO SAID THE SUNDAY HOURS WERE 12-4. WE WENT THERE AT 3:10 PM AND THE DOOR WAS LOCKED. THERE WAS A GIRL SITTING BY THE CASH REGISTER WHO SAW US BY THE DOOR BUT SHE COMPLETELY IGNORED US AND WOULD NOT COME TO THE DOOR. WE WAITED ANOTER 20 MONUTS AND KEPT KNOCKING ONTHE DOOR. ALL THIS IDIOT DID WAS LOOK UP AT US AND NOT MOVE OFF HER CHAIR. WE WERE FORCED TO LEAVE AND TO SOME WHERE ELSE. GUESS WHAT? IT WAS A BLESSING IN DISGUISE. WE FOUND THE SAME ITEM AT TARGET FOR 40% LESS PRICE. WE FOLLOWED UP OUR HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE BY WRITING A LETTER TO KEN FORTNER AT HADCO IN ATLANTA.... GUESS WHAT THIS KNUCLE HEAD DID?? THAT.S RIGHT HE COMPLETEL IGNORED OUR LETTER. AND NEVER GOT BACK TO US .. NOT SURPRISED more

Fantastic! 10/20/2010

I have been attending The Viking Cooking Classes for the past 3-4 years and learn something new with each and every class. The instructors are top notch, the recipes divine and I love tasting the final product with a little vino! Love you all, especially Brande! more

avoid if possible. 6/17/2010

I purchased two classes for my husband as a wedding gift. He has expressed interest in cooking and I found that this school offered a great selection of classes and found two that I knew he would love. The prices however were still on the high side compared to other classes I found in the area. He attended the first class and had a great time. But when the next class was coming up he was interviewing for a few jobs. He was offered a job (on a friday evening) and was asked to please start on that Monday (the class was tuesday). We both worked Saturday and Sunday during the hours that the Viking School was opened. We looked online and couldn't find any information about canceling or rescheduling a class and from his last class he remembered someone calling out THAT MORNING and rescheduling with no problem. anyway, since we called 24 hours before and not 48 we were told we were out of luck and the $70 I spent on a gift now was a waste. They refuse to work with you and will NOT refund any class even if it means losing a future long time student. It is an awful business, they never returned calls for over a week and then blamed it all on us. We are young and don't have a lot of money and they refused to recognize this. Do not go to them. It is a complete waste of your time and money, especially if life happens and something else comes up. Pros: classes are fun Cons: difficult to work with, no refunds. more

Amazing cooking classes 2/3/2010

I was dragged into taking a class, and wasn't very excited about it. To my surprise the class, led by Chef Jamie Watson, was incredibly good. I thought I was a decent cook before this, but I learned tons of new information. I immediately signed up for more sessions. While the hands on classes are expensive, you get to eat what you prepare, and the food is plentiful. I'm frugal, but I think the classes are definitely worth the price. Pros: The teaching chef is extremely talented Cons: Pricey classes more

If they cancel your class, don't reschedule, take the refund 12/23/2009

I understand the need to have, and stick to, refund policies, but in our case they canceled our class because it wasn't 100% full. Both of us being busy people, we had taken the afternoon off to ensure we could make it, so when they cancelled it and asked us to pick another class, we picked the only other one we would have a chance of making it to in the next four months. On our way to the class we were running late due to an expected, but very needed, parent-teacher conference, which in turn put us in terrible traffic. We called and notified them that afternoon before the start of the class that we would be about an hour late at best and asked to reschedule. They were not as understanding and flexible with our change of plans as we had been with their's and insisted that the small amount of bulk food they had purchased for the class cost the same as the total price tag of the class and therefore could not reschedule us regardless of our situation. Point being, they are nice people and they have good products, but if they cancel your class, take the money and don't reschedule, you can always reschedule and pay for the class with that money later without the risk of losing your hard earned cash. Pros: Nice People, good products Cons: Very Rigid Refund Policies more

A ""metropolitan"" taste 8/2/2004

Wow! Who would have thought, while driving down Franklin Road, that they would spot a Viking Culinary Center? This jewel, with only nine other culinary center locations in the U.S. (Dallas, Atlanta, Philadelphia, etc.), has a location in the historic Factory retail center, in posh little Franklin! Now, to be honest, I am horrible at cooking and have no skills in the kitchen... but I have had an unbelievably great time taking classes at the facility with my friends and family when they come to visit. For those who are great chefs, I challenge you to think of something related to cooking that you can't find at Viking. The center hosts a friendly environment and is also frequented by travelers in the area. Go to have fun and go to meet new people as well! Pros: Friendly staff, Reasonable prices, Fun experience more

Awesome Staff! 4/16/2003

This store is a little bit of heaven. The best cookware and accessories anywhere. The cooking classes are a wonderful. Best thing about this place is the staff... friendly, knowledgeable... guaranteed to brighten up your day! Well worth the short drive into Franklin from Nashville. Pros: customer service, product line, knowledgeable staff more

Everything you want...and more 6/3/2002

My husband, who is a wonderful chef, had been searching everywhere for a simple item, a plastic bottle used in decorating plates for design with sauces. We just moved here and looked everywhere. That is when we came upon Viking. We made the 30-minute trip and found what we were looking for...and more. They have everything a cook or cook-to-be could ever ask for. We were in awe of all their wares. We will definitely will be back. more
