Great doctor, IDENTITY STOLEN 3/16/2011

Great doctor. 3 generations went to him for over 25 years. Sadly, we do not go there any more. HORRIBLE STAFF: 1. All patients' identity stolen last year. We each received a letter 8 months after it happened. Zip drive with our socials, insurance information, etc. stolen from the office. Why is our info on a zip drive? Why not locked up? Why let us know far after the fact? 2. Given expired samples. 3. Line built up at check-in while staff ordered take-out on the phone. 4. I had 11:30 appointment. Couldn't schedule follow-up because staff on lunch. Office manager was there but didn't know how to schedule me or what laser schedule was. When I helped her out with something, she said ""Oh, you're great. I should give you a job."" 5. Kept on hold 7 minutes one time, 8 minutes the other. 6. Staff spoke poorly of other patients in front of me. \r \r Here's the clencher: I called after our identity was stolen. Spoke to office manager, who said identity theft from doctors'offices ""happens all the time."" When I mentioned I was a long-time patient with concerns and relayed to her what I had experienced, she simply said: ""I' haven't received any complaints."" Not even a cursory ""I'm sorry."" Sadly, I had to vote with my feet. It's been a year, and my new dermatologist is still trying to get my file transferred over from their office. \r \r I'm really easy to please, grateful for the service I get, and never write any reviews, much less bad ones. I cut people slack. But this is unacceptable. Dr. Vacarro, I will miss you and your conservative treatment, friendly manner, years of friendship with our family. But your staff is sucking your practice dry! You lost 7 patients of 3 generations with our family alone.\r \r Dismiss my review as an anomaly? Crazy rant? Enjoy sharing your expired medications and social security number. And please let me know when the staff gets better. I'll promptly return to my dear Dr. Vaccaro. more

Really great doctor 3/9/2011

I have severe psoriasis and, I've been to a couple of dermatologists. Nothing seemed to help until I was recommended to Dr. Vaccaro. My first visit they had me change into one of those paper robes. I thought my God they are actually going to REALLY look at my skin! He came in and look at my problem and said""why haven't you come to see me sooner?"" I told him about other doctors and the lotions and creams they put me on. What worked somewhat and what didn't. He recommend we take a more aggressive treatment which is UV light treatment. It's been a month solid, twice a week and, there is a noticeable difference. It's still there but, not as bad as it was. I feel like I have skin and not wearing armor. I'm still in treatment. It's not going to get better overnight but as long as I see results, I'm happy. Dr. Vaccaro is very nice and sociable as well as being thorough. If he knows I'm in the light box room and walks by he always asks how I'm doing. The staff is always nice even if their really busy. more

Great doctor 1/28/2011

I'm surprised by the so-so reviews here. I think that people expect magic cures in one or two visits or believe all the hype about new drugs and new procedures. My family has gone to Dr. Vaccaro several times over a period of 20 years. The staff is always friendly, and Dr. Vaccaro is gentle, caring and effective. Yes, he once recommended an over-the-counter lotion for me - not a super-expensive prescription - and it worked wonders. Turned out I was allergic to lanolin, a common ingredient in many face lotions. Sometimes old-fashioned common sense and experience beats the latest, greatest trendy and expensive solution. Different family members have had different problems, and Dr. Vaccaro has helped all of us. I tried two other dermatologists only because they were much closer, but they didn't compare to Dr. Vaccaro. He's well worth the drive. more

Ok-Service 11/18/2010

I've seen Dr. Vaccaro a couple of times, but he didn't fix any of my problems. The cream he gave me was over-the-counter and I didn't learn anything new. Service was ok, but nothing spectacular more

Okay Dermatologist, but could be Better 10/12/2010

I went to this doctor once in September of 2009, and again in October 2010 for eczema, but my problems never completely went away. Doctor was friendly, but did not seem like an expert, and his Medical Assistant should be better trained. The doctor recommended a specific Aveeno Lotion for Eczema, but it didn't do more than the typical lotion. When I went back the second time, he further provided basic instructions (ie: prevent extreme sun exposure, don't scratch, etc...) but my skin was basically in no better condition than before I saw him both times. The doctor himself seemed friendly, though but he was in a rush both times. The main Medical Assistant working in the front didn't really know what she was doing at all though and was relatively rude. She collected a check for my co-pay when I arrived, but then insisted on exchanging it for cash at the end of my visit and when I asked why she forgot the doctor's policy was to collect cash only for co-pays. more
