Trident Baptist Church

Just got back from Youth Conference. I have taken many teens before but not a group like this one. They have such a heart for God and helping serve the community. They made commitments to be a stronger Christian, and I am already seeing them ""walking the walk."" I am the Pastor's Son who has had the privilege to grow up in the church, and now have the opportunity to work with young people during a transition time in their lives. I have taken the things that my Youth Director- Dosio has taught me from being an assistant under him. Thank you for all the years of investment in my life. Love you guys!!! more

This Church is a wonderful church. I have been a member for a long time, when I was living in the area. I was even on staff at one time. I don't know of another church who has a bigger heart for reaching out to those who are in need like this church. I have never doubted the love that Pastor Haynes has had for myself and my family, and appreciate all the sacrifices he has made to be there for me when iI needed his help! No Pastor is perfect, but I was not a perfect member ether. Thats why we have the Grace of God to look past our faults and find forgiveness. I love this church, the pastor and the people who loved my family .I wish God's blessing on everyone at this church! God is good, all the time! more

When I look for a church, I talk extensively with the members as well as those who have left the church. This church has MAJOR problems including scandels. Apparently the church used to run several hundred on Sundays and can now only manage to get about 100 people to show up. Why is an important question. According to many of the people I talked to and based on what I have seen, these are the major issues: more

Harsh headline right? But it's true. My family attended this church for many years. We paid money into it, we followed Michael Haynes blindly. My father busted his ass to perform back breaking work just to pay for us to attend their private school lessons. But as time went by and I grew to understand and see things. I noticed that this church became more about financial gain, than preaching the lords word. They had ""give it all sunday's"" where you empty your pockets and the preacher will give you an A-Men. Subliminal hints using verses where a boy in the bible gave everything he had, even if it were just a small amount to Jesus. Soon I was there in a cross spanish/American night where they began toting wheel barrels around the church that were being filled with money. This went on for an hour. Collecting money. Collecting money, screaming to give more. It felt like I was involved in a cult. I had just turned 18 and I began to look at things differently. Without money, you weren't socially acceptable for this church. Give a big offering and you can have dinner with Dr. Haynes at the front of the table at Ryan's family buffet. Homophobic slurs, mind controlling hate speeches controlling what you say and do. Women can't wear jeans, no skirts above the knee. Then it happened. My father, after 20 years of service, after 20 years of back breaking work. After I began to create them a professional grade website (which has since been removed by me) needed money. We were being evicted and had no place to go. My father found a trailer we were able to afford. I remember the nights he cried because he couldn't support his family. He asked Dr. Haynes for a loan of 500 dollars just until his social security check came the next week and he'd pay him back . Haynes told us to come back later. We did, and when we came back, his answer for my father was to pray. He didn't have a check, he didn't have any real answers. He told us to pray real hard and god would listen to us. We did pray, and we came to a man of god FOR the answer but he was too busy skimming off the top of the collection plate to pay the construction cost to his daughter's new home. Driving around in a factory new Avalanche fully stocked. My father listened. he went home and prayed. 2 weeks later, we found ourselves begging family to let us live with them. Because of this man, this church. I began to question my entire belief structure in the first place until I arrived where I am now. A non believer. I would like to thank Dr. Michael Haynes for being such a bad person. If you truly believe in hell, than my friend... I'll see you there. Gluttony is a sin. more

I spent years growing up in this church being raised to follow blindly and without question. This ""church"" filled me with hateful belief systems that degraded and belittled people of other faiths, homosexuals, and anyone who didnt follow their beliefs to a tee. If you do not believe that it is sinful and evil for women to wear a swim suit, pants, or sub knee length skirts, than you have no place here. This place is so strict that even disney movies are off limits. This place controls your behavior, lifestyle, way of thinking, and every activity. If a couple of the opposite sex sat within 6 inches of each other then they could be suspended from their school. Thats truly absurd. This church fits the definition of a cult to a tee and is run by power hungry money grubbers. This place has ruined church for me and i truly dont believe that i can ever participate in a church again. I thank god every day that I was fortunate enough to overcome the grasp they had on me. I HAVE ATTENDED THIS CHURCH SEVERAL TIMES. PASTOR MIKE HAYNES ON SUNDAY OCTOBER 2 2011 MADE STATEMENTS THAT WERE OFFENSIVE NOT ONLY TO ME BUT TO OTHERS. ALTHOUGH I AM NOT GAY. I DO HAVE GAY FRIENDS. WITH KIDS IN ATTENDANCE PASTOR HAYNES USED SUCH WORDS AS ""QUEERS"" AND THAT ""GOD MADE ADAM AND EVE NOT ADAM AND STEVE"" HOW CAN A MAN OF THE CLOTH TEACH SUCH THINGS. I WAS SO ANGRY THAT I WALKED OUT OF CHURCH. HE SAID THAT "" QUEERS ARE ABOMINATION AGAINST GOD"" I WAS RAISED IN CATHOLIC SCHOOL AND ONLY A FEW YEARS AGO CHANGED TO BAPTIST. IN EITHER CHURCH I WAS TAUGHT TO LOVE PEOPLE FOR WHO THEY ARE. I WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO. I WILL NEVER AGAIN ATTEND TRIDENT BAPTIST CHURCH. I WILL HOW EVER PRAY FOR PASTOR HAYNES AND HIS IGNORANCE. I have never visited your church but to read the reviews is wonderful. I agree with the OLD FASHIONED TYPE of CHURCHES. I come from a KJV believing church. I also would like for you to view some of our young people that are part of our Teen Ministry Team. You can view them at TMTministries. We are very proud of them. We are members of White Savannah Original Freewill Baptist Church in Conway, South Carolina. I feel that society has forgotten our old fashion values. If I were living in your area, I believe I would be compelled to visit/attend your church. Keep up the good work. more

As a fundamental Baptist pastor for nearly 33 years, I would certainly recommend the church to any of my members who moved into the Charleston area. I've heard Brother Haynes preach on audio cassette, and I believe that any Christian could be stirred to grow and serve under such a ministry of the word. As a former preacher I've attended many curches, and I must say this is the second most extreme consevative old-fashioned type of church I've seen. For some, that is a good thing, however it is not for many. You will be compelled to confrontationally witness regularly, should you choose to join. That means knocking doors in an attempt to convert people. The preacher, Dr Michael T Haynes (graduate of Hyles-Anderson College), has a vigorous and bombastic style of preaching that at times could be viewed as contraversal. Dr. Haynes is passionate on the issue that the King James (1611) is the only true version of the Bible in english, reffering to others as being corrupted and the work of the devil. Often the preaching hits home with the congregation as well, resulting in shouts of ""amen!"". Pros: King James Only. High dress standards. Gorgeous church with lotsa parking. Cons: King James only. Trident Baptist is one of the best places to go and give praise to the lord! whether your a first time visitor or a long time member, youll feel at home in this house of the lord. thanks to pastor haynes for 25 years of soul winning and truth spreading! Trident Baptist Church is an excellent place to serve God! They have an active bus ministry, weekly soulwinning, an addictions program, youth activities, a K-12 Christian school and much, much more. more
