Tony is a rare breed. Honest, trustworthy and knows more about all types of cars than anyone I have ever encountered. My wife took our VW Passat in after receiving the news from...

Amazing 3/9/2011

Amazing. As a female, I always feel I'm going to be taken when it comes to car repairs. I needed a "30k mile services" as recommended by my automaker. I called the dealership and they wanted $510. I called another place I often use and they wanted $329.99. Price quote was $96.50. That was to look at the car on a diagnostic machine, change the oil and any other filters as needed. Total bill $137 and some change. They also identified a serious problem with my steering gear (leaking), quoted me about $800 for the repair, but instead of telling me they needed to fix it...they told me to take it to the dealership. Even though my car is 4,000 miles past the warranty limit, they said, "Go back to the dealership because that shouldn't break." Thanks. Thanks for being honest and for giving me good guidance. more

Tony's fix my Jeep in ONE DAY 3/4/2011

Not only did Tony's fix my Jeep in ONE DAY, but they also did it for $1100 less than what Ourisman wanted for the work! They were very professional, answered all of my questions, and were always courteous and easy to deal with. This is my new go-to garage for ALL of my vehicle needs! I would like to send a HUGE thanks Jerry and the guys at Tony's Auto Service for making this experience much much easier! more

Go here if you want good service 3/3/2011

Go here if you want good service, a fair price, and you don't want to be taken for a ride. I've had my Lexus serviced here for the past few years and haven't had a bad experience yet. The work has always been done well, I've never had to take it back. Also, when they've found problems they've been honest in telling me what I had to get fixed now and what could wait (as opposed to service shops that will swear if you didn't get every last thing done that minute your car was in mortal danger of falling apart) and I've seen them do this with other customers. The staff also is just plain nice. Works for me. more

Highly recommended 3/1/2011

Free towing from the District to their shop. Alignments, inspections, and mysterious problems magically diagnosed and repaired. Simple, thorough explanations. Good prices, and respect for ladies. A passionate appreciation for the art of the automobile. Convenient location close to the Metro. more

I will definitely be coming back here 2/28/2011

To cut to the chase, I will definitely be coming back here. They are quick, reliable, nice, and HONEST. Quick: I took my car in for several repairs late Monday. The car was ready Wednesday. Reliable: They always returned my call. Nice: Nice, friendly guys. Honest: They had initially misquoted something for me. After having the error pointed out, they were not only totally understanding, but ended up nixing the charge altogether for that particular service. I also appreciated the printed out break down of each charge for parts/service. Love that they are so close to the metro station too. more

Considerate 2/25/2011

Dear Tony's Auto Service, You are exactly what we've been looking for these past two and half years in DC. I'm ashamed that the first time we called you, we were too impatient to wait the extra weekend for our vehicle to get fixed. Don't worry, we paid a huge price of shady service at another mechanics, and we definitely learned our lesson. We know better now. You're a rare diamond in the rough that fellow yelpers may want to keep to themselves. After these past few months of poor customer service and getting screwed by inexperienced mechanics, you're a breath of FRESH AIR. You've put that smile back on our faces, that I can't wait to tell the world of your great service! Everyone's reviews about you yet are nothing shy of true, except for the no-call-back guy. I'm sorry that guy didn't have a good experience, but I have faith in you. The moment I stepped in, I found comfort in the fact that at my short height, I look up and around and there wasn't an inch of wall that was not covered with a certificate, award, or recognition given. Both old and new, I'm thankful you hang everything up with pride. It leaves customers like myself with no reason to doubt your profession at all. I understand the legacy of Tony's Auto Service. Your extremely old and outdated decor shows that you're more focused on working on your cars. The old, well aged certificates, newspaper articles, awards all show me what experience you have. The new certificates, recognition, and awards show me your consistent progressive growth. We have nothing but high regards and respect for your business. I love, love, love that you are a family operated business, and that your nephew Andrew has taken such great care of my husband and I from the beginning. Andrew is VERY considerate, understanding, respectful, reliable, honest, and most of all, helpful. We walked into your store tense and irritated by getting tossed back and forth from crappy service, and you took the car into your hands and fixed it all. Each phone call you promised was delivered. more

Thank you Tony's 2/24/2011

Some part under my car hood was making a whining noise. I took the car to Japanese Auto City to diagnose the problem. Broken alternator, they said, $250 for the part, $170 for the labor. I asked if they'd install an alternator I went out and bought myself. Sure, but it would take 2-3 hours at $88/hour. Thinking that price was ludicrous, I gave Tony's Auto Service a call. Tony's said the alternator replacement would take 1.1 hours at $96/hour. In the end, I spent $91 on the alternator (through a third party) and $105.60 on the labor - much better than the $420 I would've dumped at the other place. Thank you Tony's. more

Dr Tony has my stamp of approval 2/22/2011

I've found the place where i'm going to bring my car for all automotive needs, and its walking distance from my place too. Dr Tony (he has a certficate on his wall that states he is a "Doctor of Motors") is a hard working honest family man. I make that statement for several reasons. 1) hard working: His wall is decorated full of certificates of appreciation from different organizations, including the Secret service, the president, Army Reserve, police department, and he serviced the cars involved in the presidential election, police department, and i even saw a Walter Reed Army Medical Center bus in his lot. he has a large open bay that can service many cars at once. 2) honest: i brought my car in because there was a metal bar hanging down from underneith my car. My first thought....holy Sh*t i think my cars falling out from under me. A metal bar scraped the ground so i had to bring it in. Mechanics are akin to surgeons. They can open you up, do their thing, close you up and you wouldn't know what they did most times. They can tell you anything is wrong with your car and most woundn't know the difference. within two hours, he had my problem solved and fixed. apparently i had run over a metal bar and it got lodged there. They took it out, didn't inflate any prices, or sell up and say i needed to fix "other things" or say i needed to replace anything. Most places would have said damage was done to this and that and charge me for fixing it. 3) family man: he has a picture of his family next to his computer. Tony's shop has been around since the 1960's, so he ain't going anywhere, thank goodness. I need hard working honest family man to fix my car when it breaks down. Dr Tony has my stamp of approval. Besides, when you service that many law enforcement cars, probably not a good idea to be a crook. more
