Loads of FUN! 7/13/2010

Best friend and I went and had a BLAST. Our first time on a canoe and we had so much fun. The staff was friendly, but wish they would have explained how things worked and what to expect better over the phone with them knowing it was our first time. We did not come prepared...make sure you bring food, beer, cooler and drink for some fun stops!!! We had nothing but ourselves but still LOADS of fun! I would do this AGAIN!! Pros: Great Staff, fun time Cons: Water was too low more

GREAT TIME 1/15/2010

I am not sure what these other people are talking about. We had a great time! The girl gave us a bottled water since we had to wait about ten minutes. They were VERY busy. We had help getting in and out of the canoe, and the girl was nice when we checked out. The guy that drove told us about a waterfall which was cool. We had about a 15 minute wait to be picked up because there were so many people.\r \r I would definately use them again and have recommended them to friends already. Pros: friendly, knowledgeable, new canoes Cons: they are very busy more

Terrible Service 8/5/2009

For starters upon walking into the building to pay the young fellow that took our money acted like we were intruding on him. After we paid our $45 for one canoe and a 2 hr trip the place across the highway had a banner up for $29.99 for 2 hrs. Then the fellow muttered something like"" you can get loaded into the van."" We went outside and there were several vans so we kinda stood there about 10 minutes not knowing which van to load into. Well the ride to the park was an experience of being tossed around the van at speeds too fast for the curves in the road. Upon arriving at the drop off point no instructions were given other than we will pick you up at the bridge at 6 o'clock. I know it is just a job but we paid $45 and we got a canoe, paddles and life jackets but a little courtsey from the staff would be nice as well. I will definitely take my chances at another canoe rental next time!! Pros: The River Was Nice Cons: No friendliness, courtsey or helpfulness of the Staff more

Slow Service- not well run 7/6/2009

Used other companies before and had no problem. Only tried tip-a-canoe because they had canoes available at last minute. Waited in a long line in a crowded area with no direction. Then, if you want the 4 hour trip, you have to walk down a busy street to a drop off point where they have a bunch of canoes dumped on the bank. You have to find one and pick it up and over the rocks to get it into the water. No one was there to help. Very difficult with two small children, oars, life jackets, seat pads, cooler. River trip was nice, but the four hour trip was six hours. Nothing wrong with canoe or oars. At the pick up point, we had to wait for the one van to pick everyone up. We watched other people get picked up and leave several times over. We stood on the bank waiting our turn, and when it was, we were put in a hot van and waited while the rude person picked up canoes and load them on the trailer. We waited over 30 minutes after we landed at the pick up point before we left to drive back to our car. We had to unload our oars, life jackets, etc... and take it back inside the small building which would not have been a problem except the driver actually expected a tip. I like to tip, but I reuse to tip someone who was slow rude, and made us do all of the work except put a car in drive. Very indicative of the experience. I will rent canoes for the Harpeth again, but I will not use tip-a-canoe again unless I have no other choice Pros: Harpeth River is nice Cons: Slow, service non-existant more

Canoeing on the Harpeth Let Down 6/1/2009

This is my first time to review a business online. The only reason I took the time to do this is because this place was such a disappointment that I either want the owners to have the opportunity to make some changes or keep other people from having to endure such awful service. Contacted outfitter to arrange for a last minute canoe trip for some friends. They answered the phone by saying hello rather than thanks for calling Tip A Canoe or something. This should have been my first clue about what the rest of the customer experience was to be like. I reserved our canoes and gave them an estimated arrival time to which they replied OK, see you then. After arriving, we were greeted and signed the necessary forms, and paid for our canoe rentals. After that service was non-existent. No one told us what to do, where to go, how long we were to wait, the employees were just walking around moving vans and canoes without ever telling us what was coming up next. They finally spoke and said OK, you can start loading on the vans. So everyone loaded into a filthy van in the middle of the sun with no shade, no air conditioning, and only a few side windows that popped out for air circulation. The employee then walked back inside and stayed for several minutes while everyone was trapped and packed in the hot bus. I finally had to get out and open the back door to get some air circulation. Then we finally take off to our drop off point and the employee plays with his stereo and never says a word to the group. No sorry for the delay, is everyone getting enough air?, no nothing! We finally get to our drop in point. He gets out and starts unloading the canoes and still never says a word until he gets them all unloaded. I get in my canoe and heard a loud pop as soon as I climbed in and thought it was odd but didn't pay much attention. Then after we get going about 10 minutes realize that the canoe is taking on loads of water. Had to stop our group several times to drain the water. I told the employee at the end, that the canoe was taking on lots of water. His only reply was, ""We just got it back from the welder"". No, sorry you had to deal with that, no let me comp today's trip. No Nothing. I have always seen the signs for Tip A Canoe around Nashville and based on their advertising they appear to be a good place. I would avoid this place at all costs until they make some major upgrades and hire more people to help out. There are plenty of other providers to choose from that have employees that try to help you have a fun day on the river. They only way I will be back to this place is if for some reason, they happen to see this response and contact me with a free trip and show me what changes they have made.\r Pros: Harpeth River Cons: Customer Service, Leaking Canoe, Hot Van with no A/C more
