Very Knowledgeable, Honest work, Excellent Customer Service. I Took my motorhome in to Tim Aatco transmission shop because it was making noises when it shifted gears. They said it needed to be rebuilt and quoted me a fair price. \r I setup an appointment to have it fixed the following week. Than I called around to get other quotes and found out Tim's price was very fair. I also found out that a lot of shops won't work on motorhomes.\r I had my transmission repaired at Tim's and the noise was gone and it ran great for 2 months. Than it wouldn't shift from first to second gear. \r I brought it back and they stopped working on the other vehicles and looked at mine. They hooked up there tester and said it was not the transmission but it was an electrical problem, most likely the ignition switch. They didn't charge me anything to troubleshoot my problem.\r Got the electrical fixed and the transmission has been working great ever since. more

Have been to Tim's twice now and have yet to pay anything for their services. The first visit was was with my son-in-laws older Honda Accord. He was told in Arizona that it needed a new transmission and that it wasn't worth doing. His family transferred to Portland with work and the car was moved free so we had it checked at Tim's after a recommendation from a local mechanic who did not do transmission work. Tim looked at it, drove it and did some diagnostics then told us it was not the transmission itself but the computer control module. All at no charge. We had it repaired at a mechanic he suggested and it has run great since. The second visit was with a Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 where you had to shift past the gear and then come back to the gear to get it to engage. Again Tim drove the truck, put it up on a hoist and tightened the linkage (I assume) again for no charge. Hard to find service like that now days. I highly recommend this shop. Thanks. more

My clutch was horrible and needed to be fixed. I called Tim who was very eager and willing to get me back on the road again.\r Tim was able to get me a cheap rental car during the repair, and followed the estimate to the letter. During the service work, they did identify some other issues that needed to be address (mainly the rear main seal, axle boot, and a few others). He told me that it wasn't critical to have these extra items repaired, but he let me decide if I should go ahead and let them do it. I did, and the added price to do the extra work was very inexpensive (anyone knows having a shop replace a main seal will run you around $1000, Tim offered to do it for a tenth of that amount).\r I'll tell you, that new clutch is awesome, and the car runs way better now. These guys deserve 6 stars for the work. more

I can't say enough about Tim's AATCO transmission service. As a new customer I wasn't sure how things would turn out but as I listened to him talk to customers and the smiles on peoples faces in the shop I knew I had come to the right place. Tim is fair and honest and knowledgable. A rare find in today's business world. more

Do not take your car to them they don't do close to what they say they are going to. Tim is very slick comes off as a nice guy but its all bullshit he just wants your money. I took it back to him 3 times after the rebuild for the original problem he said he replaced some sensors including the speed sensor and the main computer but it had the same problem. Finally I took it to Ford to see what’s up and found out he replaced NO sensors or computer. I was also told it would have a 3 year warranty but on the bill it was a 1 year warranty. I told Ford to take apart the transmission to see if they rebuilt it or not more to come. more

I went to Tim's AATCO after going to the dealer. I wanted a second opinion on a noise both myself and the dealer thought may be caused by a problem with the transmission. As I always do nowadays , I looked up reviews on a few websites locally. I noticed Tim's had what I would consider the highest positive rating of any of the shops around. I decided to post my comment to this site because there were a few negatives here… and I can't imagine posting a negative after my experence. Even though the place was very busy , TIm had a mechanic pause what he was working on to take a look at mine. I'm a busy person ( as we all are) so giving me that quick attention was very impressive. After a quick test drive and the mechanic giving it the once over , he told me it needed to be up on the rack so they could listen all the way down the truck from underneath ( he said the sounds that I'm hearing can travel due to shrouds around the engine) . I didn't have any more time to wait that day so I asked If I could bring it back the next day. He said ""Anytime"". \r I came back the next day and again , he stopped what he was doing to rearrange things and got my truck up on the rack , without any prodding from me ( And believe me I can prod ). After no more than 10 minutes his mechanic reported back that it wasn't the transmission at all , the sound was coming from the alternator. He handed me back the keys , and you could tell he was happy to report back that this was not a big problem for me! NO CHARGE.\r How unusual is it where a shop owner goes out of his way to satisfy a customer without any gain for himself. I think this shop has a higher moral compass than I've experienced from other shops in my life. Not that I want Tranny problems , but If I do , I will return to Tim's! more

I called Tim today in distress that I had damaged my transmission during all the recent snow and ice. He listened and made suggestions for safely getting my car in so he could look at it for me free of charge. As it turned out, my transmission was fine but the fluid was low, which he filled for me at no charge. The entire experience from my initial phone call to driving out of the shop was incredible. I could have been told my transmission needed major repair, and I wouldn't have known the difference. Tim truly cares about his customers, is friendly and honest - the antithesis of most auto shops I've encountered in my 40 + years of driving. I can't recommend him highly enough. I will definitely be back for any future problems with my transmission. He is a real find in this crazy world - someone who puts his customers above lining his pockets. Thanks, Tim! more

I gave them my customized Corvette the same year, model and color as Tim's customized Corvette. I thought and Tim said he would treat me, and my /our car right, but, me and my car got thrashed. I should have checked out their shop, bathroom, and their smelly customer waiting room as they were really pathetic then. My car left bad, again, and again! They were so greedy they wouldn't slow down, even after things were going wrong! He ended up charging me $200 more and probably damaged a new part. That could cost me $900 later. It had to be towed back to him to fix the same problem he did all that for.\r \r It is perhaps easier to have some friends write up something nice then to sue a guy for telling the truth!?\r more

These guys did a great job. I went in for transmission service and they didn't have the specialized fluid for my CVT, BUT they got it within ten minutes and completed the job, much less than the dealer would have charged. They also noticed something minor when they were doing the service and fixed it for free. These guys rock! more

You guys are great!!! Other shops were going to do total transmission job. Tim and guys did only service and no more squawk sound. Very happy customer!!!! Finally an honest set of guys to work with. \r \r Don't listen to others negative and full of nonsense review. He doesn't know what he's talking about.\r \r Thanks Tim and guys more

I called them first because I heard them on the radio station I listen to. \r I was shocked with how low the price was but I called 3 or 4 other shops and they still came in the lowest and were the friendliest on the phone. \r I have not on the car long they were nice enough to make a list of things that they saw and let me know if they thought it was a urgent need or if it could wait. Then they left it up to me whether I wanted to do the additional items or not. \r They finish the job promptly and even went the extra mile to help were they could.\r I would suggest them to anyone looking for a good transmission shop.\r more

Tim was straight forward, and his quote seemed relatively competitive. The job was done in less than a day and my car is finally shifting properly! Would recommend! more

Like everyone else, I am watching my ?retired person?s? budget very carefully. So, when my Toyota needed a new clutch job, I called around to get estimates and selected someone who was on the lower end of the bids. Unfortunately, the work took a week instead of two days and when I got my Toyota back it had new, strange sounds even though the original problem seemed to have been fixed. I had planned on having my daughter drive the car some 800 miles so, understandably, I was concerned about whether it really was fixed or not and wondering if my daughter would end up stranded somewhere. I finally decided that someone who was knowledgeable should take a look at it. I called Tim?s AATCO Transmission & Transaxle in Beaverton and explained my situation; Tim Schroeder, the owner and manager, told me he would be happy to look at it. more

I bought a vehicle from out of state that had recently had a rebuilt transmission installed. While gettting an oil change I was told that the tranny was leaking from the pan seal. The company that rebuilt the tranny (in Utah) said that they would work with an AATCO transmission shop in Oregon to cover the cost of the fix. I found Tim's shop by doing a google search. When I initially talked with them they said bring it down and we'll have a look. They looked and agreed to fix it the same day. I brought it back a few hours later to be fixed. I killed time for an hour and when I returned I was told that the leak was actually from a different seal and that it would take all day to fix it. Tim called the shop in Utah and got them to agree to cover the repair. Tim's shop worked with me on several different attempts to get in there but I always phoned with short notice. On the third attempt he got me in on the next day. more

Truly Honest Service...The last honest transmission repair shop? My experience with car repair shops over my years has been less than ideal but Tim Schroeder's crew at AATCO Transmissions has regained my faith that there are honest, high quality repair shops still around. My transmission was slipping mainly due to shotty work at a Jiffy Lube where I had my transmission fluid serviced. Besides being hundreds cheaper than other places I checked, AATCO Transmissions did a great job and brought my truck back to life saving me $2000.00 for a rebuilt transmission. They found a wrong filter installed by Jiffy Lube after they dropped my transmission pan and that it was just sitting on the pan causing the transmission to slip and loose power. I have never written a review before but had to sign up to give this company the ""props"" they very much deserve. If you need a new transmission this is the place! Thanks Tim and Dan for being honest and doing an awesome job. Beware of Jiffy Lube quick jobs. more

I have been a customer of Tim's Transmission (Aatco) for many years. I have had him install a clutch in my Mustang, rebuild a transmission for an Expedition, repair the transfer case for another Expedition and diagnose and fix another transfer case issue completeing just yesterday 9/19/12 (works great now!). Tim has always looked out for me and has done the job at a reasonable price saving me $$$ where other shops and dealers have quoted so much more. He always keeps and shows me the parts that were bad and I really appreciate that. Tim's problem is that he's too nice of a guy :-) so when Corvette owning folks like Glenn R are unreasonable and unpleasable he get's the shaft in Citysearch review despite bending over backwards to please his customer. The straight dope is that TIM IS THE GUY you want if you have transmission problems. He is fair and honest and customer oriented to the max. I recommend him without reservation. more

Highly recommend!!! I have taken my truck into this shop for just about everything over the years. As a single mom and being a woman its hard to not be taken advantage of in the auto repair business. These guys have always gone above and beyond for me! From minor to major repairs this shop has been so helpful, kind and informative with honest pricing! I wouldn't go anywhere else! Thank you Aatco Transmissions! Once again you were there to help in the most stressful of auto situations!!! more

Amazingly honest. Highly recommended. 3/20/2012

Amazingly honest. Highly recommended. Not only did, Tim not sell me a transmission I did not need. He even drove my car 2 miles down the road to another auto mechanic when he determined the transmission did not need to be replaced. I was stunned when he told me the transmission was fine- another repair shop suggested the transmission needed to be replaced. BUT I was speechless when he offered to drive it to another repair shop for a tune-up (he only works on transmissions). He didn't charge us a dime. I would have readily believed the transmission needed to be replaced. I am still amazed that he did not take advantage of me, a woman with 3 kids who clearly does not know much about cars. more
