I have many tips and or suggestions. I had to send back my steak because it was overcooked. After finishing my meal, the wait staff offered a clear trash liner as a doggy bag container, not even a fast food restaurant would do that. After giving me such lousy service, I paid for my meal. The wait staff announced that they are keeping my change as a tip. I contacted the owner to tell them about the negative experience, he did not apologize. He argued with me about the wait staff and acted dismissive about my experience when I brought to their attention. I?ve shared my experience with others, and it?s no surprise, they had a negative experience too!!! more

HUGE Disappointment! I was very excited to try Tiburon as I've heard good things about them. I was hoping for a fine dining experience. I was very disppointed in nearly all aspects of the evening. more

Aw, I used to love this place 4/3/2012

This was my go-to spot for a special evening. So last night for our 35th anniversary, it was a no-brainer. We had three problems within one minute of entering -- the place was smoky as all get-out (what on earth happened to the exhaust system?), the chairs screeched horribly as we dragged them across the tile floor to seat ourselves, and I wasn't offered a place for my coat so I was fumbling with that. Oh, forgot about both of our chairs being wobbly -- the uneven floor, not the chairs. I decided I wanted just a starter -- I asked our server what sides they had, since none were listed. He said I could get the same vegetables as a side that come with all entrees. I said no vegetables were shown as coming with the entrees. He had to look for himself on the menu. Yep, no vegetables shown on the menu. Onward. We ordered a bottle of zinfandel. We were informed they were out of that bottle but offered another bottle that was more expensive but for the same price. Sure, that's fine. So she brought the bottle and I'm sure she showed it to us for approval. My husband approved the bottle without noticing that she had suggested a syrah (I think), not a zin. Not what he would have chosen to accompany our meals. The music too was weird and I saw more than one diner looking puzzlingly at the speakers. There was a melody but then some gravelly man's voice speaking. Never could figure that out and it was mildly distracting. When our dishes came, husband was sorely disappointed. For a $38 piece of tenderloin, it was very skimpy, hidden under a blanket of like-looking mushrooms. My starter (the kurobota pork) had turned into what was easily an entree with the vegetables so I was finally happy with something. I don't know -- all of these relatively minor missteps should not occur at these prices. I don't think I could now recommend it to my friends as I have done in the past. Sorry, guys, but I do hope you can take to heart at least some of my criticisms. Bring down the prices so expectations aren't so high, or up the entire experience to justify the prices. One or the other. more

Yuck 10/10/2011

I have had a few good meals at Tiburon. Tonight was down right awful. They were out of the chicken, one of 7 entrees on the menu. I opted to order the polenta chicken appetizer and the waitress upsized it for me. What arrived was some brown goo comprised of sugar, mushrooms, tough chicken slices and what tasted like pickled polenta. No thanks. I have tried to overlook the problems with this 'fine dining' restaurant ie: carafe of water on the table for me to pour, the dining room is far less than elegant, the location etc., but with the goo they served me tonight with a $20 price tag, I will scratch this place off the list. If only Pago were open on Monday nights. more

Now this is Dining out! 9/1/2010

This is the place! There is not another restaurant in Utah that compares with the quality of food and service you get at Tiburon Fine Dining. To begin, the salads there are to die for for. The crab cakes are...WOW! My wife and I had an absolute perfect dinner. Words cannot describe how absolutely scrumptious it was. Portions were not too big...just right. Service surpasses any other. Wait staff knows the products and are very friendly. All of that aside, for the quality and attention to taste, the price was very reasonable. Do yourself a favor, take your significant other out here for a splendid evening. You can't go wrong. Mmmm!!! more

amazing! great for a romantic night! 1/10/2010

My boyfriend and I went here for our three year anniversary and we weren't disappointed! We had a romantic table with candles, the dim lighting helps too. Definitely get the crab cakes, their amazing. You may think the dinner is pricy (most range around $40) but with your meal you get bread and butter (the butter had veggies and spices in it, delicious), salad and sorbet to cleanse your palet before your meal. The salad is unique with tomatoes, apples, and candied pecans. The sorbet seems homemade, they served us raspberry and lime sorbet. Our entrees were great, I had the tenderloin of pork. Everything down to the presentation of the food was equisite. Great service too. I would recommend this for any romantic date! Pros: the food!, candles, romantic, great service more

Don't skip dessert. 1/3/2009

Great meal. What a find, I tried this place based on the good reviews and was not disappointed. The staff is fun and flexible and allowed me to make an entree out of an appetizer- try the scallops they are cooked perfectly and mildly spicy. The honey ice cream was delightful with just the right amount of honey flavor and not overwhelming at all. I would never have thought to look in Sandy for a great dinning experience but I will be back for sure. Pros: Fantastic Desserts, good service Cons: General dinning room is slightly loud more

Fantastic Summer Patio Dining 7/21/2008

We've lived within a few of miles of Tiburon for years without ever eating here. Tonight we gave it a shot and I'm happy to report that we had a perfect evening. We've lived near a jewel of a restaurant without knowing it. The service was professional and the food was expertly prepared, beautifully presented and very tasty. Every dish had unusual flavors and sauces that blended so nicely. Even the butter that was served with the sourdough bread had a tasty combination of sweet peppers, honey, balsamic vinegar and garlic. We sat on the patio on a warm summer evening and the atmosphere was relaxed and somewhat romantic. I imagine the small interior dining room could get a bit noisy, so choose your mood. Come for the food! Pros: Amazing Food, Professional Service, Nice Patio Cons: A bit expensive, but worth it. more

Great appetizers, amazing salads, love the sorbet to cleanse the palate 7/10/2008

We went to Tiburon to celebrate an anniversary (actually a monthly anniversary). When we arrived, we were greeted warmly, and we opted to sit on the patio. The setting wasn't anything remarkable, but it was very nice (clean tablecloths, nice place settings, well land-scaped area). We ordered the Polenta and the Pork Belly appetizers, and were impressed with both. The polenta was served with a delicious rich brown sauce and plenty of earthy mushrooms and tender sliced chicken throughout. The real jewel was the Pork Belly, however, which was served with delicious brie and caramelized onions. Following the appetizer, we had a wonderful salad of mixed greens with fontina cheese, candied pecans, fresh braeburn apples, a roasted roma tomato, and a creamy raspberry vinaigrette dressing. The nicest touch was the house-made raspberry and lemon sorbet served directly after the salad as a precursor to our entrees: we eminently enjoyed going into the main course with a cleansed palate--too few restaurants do this anymore. The entrees were scrumptious -- we had the ribeye (served with garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus, a cooked carrot, oyster mushrooms, and a delicious brown sauce) and the filet (served essentially the same way, though shiitake rather than oyster mushrooms). The filet was very tender, and the ribeye was full of flavor. I rank this among some of my favorite restaurants, though there are places to which I would give preference for their superior ambience. The staff was very helpful, knowledgeable, and blessedly understated. We will return, but if you eat out infrequently and don't enjoy spending money, you can find nicer places for the same money (though the food is on-par with some of the best in the valley). Give it a try, you won't be sorry. :) Pros: Great food, wonderful service Cons: Ambience leaves a bit to be desired, but if La Caille had this food I'd be there all the time. more

The most amazing food in UT 5/16/2008

I've been to the Tiburon twice, and both times have been completely fabulous. The service has always been excellent, the atmosphere friendly and charming, and the food is 2nd to nothing I've found in this state (and we've been to some highly rated places). My husband and I often compare this place to the fine restaurants we have frequented in Napa's wine country. Creative dishes, sensational taste experiencs, and I find myself saying mmm... mmmm... throughout the whole meal. Pros: Delicious, creative food, great service Cons: unexciting location more

Absolutely amazing! 5/3/2008

This restaurant is fantastic! The food is absolutely amazing. The service is wonderful. Tiburon is by far the finest restaurant in the state. I highly recommend dining here. Pros: Great service. Excellent food.Great ambience. Cons: High price. more

awesome 12/8/2007

My partner and I went on a Thursday night, we had reservations, and were promptly seated. The enclosed patio area is gorgeous. Our waitress was excellent (though she kept saying ""us"", as in, ""I'll tell us about the specials"".....which I found semi-annoying but no big deal. just weird. like a nurse.) It was a bit rocky at first b/c a bunch of lound, drunk 50 year olds were at the table next to us, but they left about 10 minutes after we got there. The salad was awesome, consisted of machego, apple, mixed greens, a roasted tomato, and an unusual vinagrette. My partner hates greens, and even he liked it. Then they brought lime and raspberry sorbet to cleanse our palates....delicious! (Definately homemade). Pros: everything! Cons: .........? more

Just go there 9/11/2007

Worth every penny! I had the special and it was fan-tas-tic! My husband tried the lamb and we both loved that as well. It was a pleasant evening and we were seated outside and surprise: live music! What a plus! \r Service was wonderful and the food just perfect! Pros: Live music, easy parking, GREAT food, wine selection Cons: We had to wait at least 20 minutes to get seated - even wih reservation more

Affordable dazzling food 5/11/2007

This place pleased my incredibly hard to please mother on a recent visit. The food was better prepared than Riverhorse and more affordable than the Tree Room, both of which I have visited multiple times this past winter. The service was attentive but not intrusive. The atmosphere was sophisticated in the dining room and relaxed in a pleasing way out on the breezeway and patio. I can't believe I took so long to finally visit! And did I mention it even pleased my mother?!? I will definitely return and am grateful for this jewel in Sandy. Pros: delightful food, great winelist, excellent service, wonderful atmosphere Cons: parking lot could smooth out potholes, only one bathroom more

Tiburon is the Best in Utah! 4/30/2007

We had a wonderful experience from servers, to appetizers, salad, main dish, dessert. It was all so good and you can taste the ""made from scratch"" in every bite. Congrats, we finally found a wonderful place to dine in Utah. This is a 6 star restaurant. Pros: Everything! Cons: Nothing! more

Great from start to finish 1/5/2007

The food at Tiburon is great. We moved to the Salt Lake area from Phoenix and were worried we would not be able to find any good restaraunts, but we have really loved Tiburon everytime we have gone there. Everything we have had, from the salad to the main course has always been great. One time my husband's steak was overcooked and we were promptly brought a new one without any fuss. The building itself is unimpressive but don't let the lack of style fool you - the food really is top notch. The atmosphere is nothing like La Caille but the food is twice as good at Tiburon. The duck is my favorite and my husband loves the filet with foi gras. We have never had a problem with the service - everyone has been polite and done a great job. We also have never felt that it has been too crowed or noisy. more
