The Pennsylvania Bakery

I ordered a cake from The Pennsylvania Bakery on Market Street in Camp Hill for a reunion lunch with 20 girls from my high school class. I had not seen most of them in 43 years and was excited about a special lunch. I called The Pennsylvania Bakery over a week prior to the June 2 lunch. I specifically asked to speak to the person in charge of ordering cakes and was connected to Pam. She seemed efficient and knowledgeable as she took my order. I asked her if I should call on June 1 to confirm my order. She assured me it would be ready and I'd be pleased with it. I was confident the cake I ordered would be something very special and something that would make the lunch even more memorable for everyone. The cake was to be ready by 10:00 am. I arrived to pick it up around 10:45. There were many ladies behind the counter waiting on customers but it took awhile to get the attention of anyone. Finally one woman offered to help and went in search of my cake. After quite a long time she came back and said there were "many" places my cake could be hiding. Finally, after about 20 minutes, Pam appeared with my order in her hand. She informed me that she was sorry but they "FORGOT" to make my cake!! She didn't know why. She did seem truly embarrassed and offered to begin baking it at that time. The lunch was to begin across town in 45 minutes so her offer was out of the question. I was speechless and VERY disappointed as my husband and I left the bakery. My advice to anyone wanting a cake made for a special occasion, DO NOT USE THE PENNSYLVANIA BAKERY! The Pennsylvania Bakery is just simply fantastic! We order cakes for every birthday and special occasion and have yet to be disappointed. I really think they need their own cake show!! Their pastries, cookies, and breads are also to die for! And the ladies that work in the shop are always so friendly. I <3 LOVE <3 the Pennsylvania Bakery!! :) more

Thank you PA Bakery for being so responsive! After spending more than $100, an hour of my time with one of your employees, and providing the crib blanket with the design on it and multiple photos to assist your cake designer, you provided a cake that was NOT what I ordered. And the cupcakes that went with it looked li...ke they came from Giant. White icing spraypainted pink - the order sheet CLEARLY spelled out what colors the cupcakes were to be. I didn't pay TPB prices because I wanted cupcakes that looked like Giant. When I asked to speak with the owner Ken, he dismissed me and said take it or leave it. REALLY!?!? Baby shower was in one hour. I won't be coming back to your store! more

I searched and hunted for a wedding cake months in advance. I even paid them the $400 in full 6 MONTHS in advance. The week before my wedding they finally disclosed to me that they DO NOT set up the cake. The day of my wedding came and each of the three layers of my wedding cake were mangled. The top and bottom layers were smashed against the side and top of their boxes, and the middle layer was cracked beyond belief. My caterer managed to scrape the icing from the box, wet it, and spread it with a heated knife (thank goodness I hadn't chosen an ornate design or colors), and my florist covered any other damage with flowers. I tried to contact the owner to talk to them about it, and they responded to none of my messages. They reuined my wedding cake and don't find themselves accountable. I've heard the stories before, but now I know that this is one bakery that should stay out of the wedding cake business!! more

They have the best cakes around! For my daughter's 3rd birthday she wanted a "Dora" cake and I called them right before closing time and they had it ready for my the next day as promised. It was very fancy with airbrushed type frosting and a Dora car with track toy on top. All this for about $20.00 and one hppy little girl. A+++++ more

I'm a sucker for baked goods and the second you enter this bakery, you can't help but want to order everything in there. The smells are wonderful and intoxicating!! Every cake I have ever purchased from here has been delicious. Their Red Velvet cakes are to die for. If you're looking for an extra special treat, stop in here for some fantastic goodies. more

THE PENNSYLVANIA BAKERY IS AN AWESOME PLACE FOR GREAT TREATS. THEYA RE VEYR EXSPENSIVE IN MY OPINION AND THIER CUSTOMER SERVICE LEAVES ALOT TO BE DESIRED. MY HUSBAND AND I WENT THIER FOR A TREAT AND ORDERED A CUPCAKE WITH A SMILE FACE ON IT AND A CUPCAKE WITH AN ICING DOG ON TOP IT. 2 SMALL COKES AND IT COST US OVER $10.00. I AM SERIOUS. tHE CUPCAKES WERE OVER $3.00 A PIECE. nOT WORTH IT TO ME. more

This is the best bakery I have found around. They have great cakes for any occasion as well as a wide assortment of other desserts and pastries. They can do just about anything that you're looking for. The chocolate cake with peanut butter cake is to die for and if you like carrot cake this is definitely the place to go. If you need cupcakes last minute for a kids part they always have ones decorated very cute and if you need different pastries for a shower or a meeting you can always find something that everyone will like here. more
