best restaurant ever 10/3/2008

the blackened swordfish is the greatest. the seared ahi tuna is the second greatest. have eaten here for years and is worth every freakin penny. the service is second to none and the staff goes above and beyond to make your dining experience magical. Pros: greatest food on the planet Cons: don't show up at the wrong time without a reservation more

Not to be missed 1/22/2008

My friend had told me about this restaurant several times over the past month and we had tried to get a reservation earlier but could not get in. Well we decided on a Saturday that we could eat late and we were able to get a reservation. Upon walking in we were greeted and advised are table would be ready in a few moments (we were about 10 min early) All the drawings of the famous people who have dined at the restaurant were all over the walls and was fun to look at. We were taken to our table and our waitress Elizabeth greeted us and asked us for our drink order. We ordered a Primus 2005 from the Casablanca Valley of Chile and found it to be a nice wine. Dinner was filet for my friend and I had the stuff lobster, which was great and well worth the market price. While you might think that the restaurant seems loud, once you settle in and start enjoying not only your food, but you company, you don?t even notice. If you?re looking for great food and a nice place to dine this is a good choice. Since it was my first time to the restaurant they provided me with a free desert, which was the chocolate cake and was fabulous. While the rich and famous have dinned here, the less than rich and famous will also find this a great value. If you think you might only get one visit and you like lobster, then spend the extra and go for it, you won't regreat it. Can't wait to come back to LA and dine again! Pros: great food, great service more

Best LOBSTER!!! 7/19/2007

I love the PALM!!!! they have the best service!! They know how to keep every customer happy and listen to all your needs. The service makes this place the best in LA for american food. I highly recommend it. The bartender was very friendly and the waiter was superb. It is one of my favorite restaurants- too bad they got rid of the cream corn=(\r \r but the cake is awesome! I think the prime rib is better than lawry's! more

Great steaks, great bar! 2/28/2007

As regulars at The Palm, we have to admit that the flavorful steaks and lobster make up for the lack of ambiance and sometimes slow service! The managers and hostesses always remember your name and reservations almost always guarantee your table is ready on time. We love this place! Pros: Great steaks cooked perfectly every time, fabulous martinis Cons: Very noisy, parking only accessible from one side of street more

Love it!!! 11/14/2006

This place has it all. If you wanna see a famous star come to this place. Expensive but great all the way around. Everytime I've come to the Palm i've seen someone famous from Phillipe seymore Hoffman to Adam Sandler. The lobster is to die for as well. Its a must. more

the palm is the bomb 5/18/2006

a slight wait, but the waiters and host we're still awesome guys the food was incredible, i had the ceaser salad and a 16 oz filet mignon of which i ate the entire thing, and i'm not a big guy the palm is the bomb. Pros: Deliciousness, Great Waiter more

Fabulous! 11/11/2005

I was extremely pleased with The Palm. We had 8:30 reservations and were promptly seated upon arrival. The service couldn't be beat! Romeo was one of the best servers we have had at any restaurant. My DH and I both ordered the NY Strip (cooked medium), and it was cooked perfectly! I found the steak to be very flavorful, perfectly charred on the outside, yet juicy and flavorful on the inside. I usually order the filet when we go out to eat, but since the NY Strip had so many good reviews I decided on that. I'm glad I did! The sides are definitely enough for 2 to share, and we split an order of onion straws. Since it was our first visit, the manager gave us a comp. cheesecake. Will definitely be back! Pros: outstanding service, seated promptly, great food/atmosphere Cons: valet parking, but what else is new? more

Don't Bother 8/21/2003

This place used to be good and worth the money. Sadly this is no longer the case. My ""medium rare"" $34 New York was delivered well done. After trying to get a waiter's attention for awhile I sent it back and by the time a replacement arrived my dinner party was entirely done eating. Apologies were made but I'll never go back. more

not worth your money 5/22/2003

This restaurant is totally over rated! The steak is huge but no flavor. The steak is certainly not melt in mouth like Ruth Chris. The service is terrible. Ambience is noisy and table sit too closely together not good for romantic dinner. On top of that the rating is ""B"" for a famous restaurant Pros: large portion, seat prombly Cons: meat has no flavor, too noisy more

alantheartmaven 4/7/2003

not good sides? their creamed spinach is better than your mom can make. ditto for the green beans, when they saute them in olive oil and oregano. and what about the raisin pumpernickle? or the cheesecake. you must be a west coast wimp not to recognize great food. and, of course, even though this is about steak, no one can match those Palm lobsters. Pros: taste of the food, amount of food more

Flavorless 2/20/2003

The prime rib was certainly not a high grade of beef. No flavor. Could've picked up a better steak at the grocery store. more

The WORST service your can imagine! 2/7/2003

Coming in as a group of approximately six 20 year olds, we were promptly seated but that's about as good as the service got. Our waiter merely took our orders and left, never even returning to ask us for refills or a simple ""are you doing okay?"" But what angered us most is that we saw him sitting at the table next to us mingling and chatting. After being told that there was a birthday at our table he didn't even come back with anything for the birthday boy until our table was cleared off and we had already complained to the incompetent manager on duty. This kind of rudeness is ridiculous when you walk in expecting to pay a $100 for one meal! This experience really taught me that price definitely does not reflect service because I have had better customer service going through the drive through of jack-in-the-box. Cons: bad service more

Completely not worth it 2/4/2003

While the food is good, it is not worth half of the cost. And this is consistant across the country at Palm restaurants, unfortunately. Pros: Good food Cons: Not worth the cost more

A must experience! 2/4/2003

The downtown Palm at Flower near the Staples Center has the ""best"" New York strip Sirloin in North America. Combine it with mouth-watering half and half(potato and onion fries) and you want to bring your family. The service is outstanding, the drinks are great and the wine list terrific. The Nova Scotia lobster is fabulous and in the summer you can get steak and lobster to share with your partner at a great price. The other Palm on Santa Monica Blvd is a little more intimate and started the whole great process. Pros: roomy, elegant, valet parking more

Overrated beyond belief 1/13/2003

A highly rated steak restaurant in many cities, the Los Angeles The Palm is the only one that I have ever been to. Noisy, very uncomfortable (tables are almost twice as long as the wooden church-like benches on which one perches), and expensive for what you get. My medium-steak even came burnt on the outside on both sides as if it were cooked in about 2 minutes on 600 degrees. Very disenchanting despite all the ""celebs"" (big whoop) that happen to go there. more

Any way you slice it: overrated! 1/13/2003

We've been to The Palm in Los Anegles on several occasions. While the food was good, especially the steaks, the restaurant was very noisy. At times it was so loud as to make conversation difficult. Service was good but not particularly attentive. Worst of all was the attitude we got on our last visit (and I DO mean last). It must be that business is so good that there's just no need for simple courtesy. You can find steaks elsewhere in L.A. that are at least as good as The Palm's and be sure of better value and a better experience. Pros: good steaks Cons: very noisy, lacking value more

I've Had Better 12/5/2002

I went to the Palm expecting great food and great atmosphere, but my expectations were a little high. The place is very small, crowded, and noisy. As for the food, the appetizers were excellent--Shrimp Bruno (a house specialty) and fried calamari. I had the legendary porterhouse, medium-rare, and was very underwhelmed. The service was top notch and the manager even comped our dessert since it was our first time dining at the Palm. A fun place to visit once, but for the money I'd take Arnie Morton's of Chicago over the Palm hands down. Pros: Old Hollywood Feel, Great Appetizers Cons: Extremely Noisy, Very Small Booths, Pricey more

That's The Whole Cow... 8/31/2002

An elegant version of a steakhouse. The steaks are aged beef of the best quality, and it will take up your entire plate. The service was good, and the wine selection was adequate. It's not cheap, but it's worth it. Pros: Quality Food, Good Atmosphere Cons: Expensive, Crowded more
