Best

We didn't know what to expect and was a little surprised with what this restaurant was all about. This is not a table service restaurant, which didn't bother us. There was a lot...

Worst

We have eaten at BBQ joints all over the Seattle area and honestly have nothing positive to say about the food at Texas Smokehouse. The brisket was dried out and chewy, the beans ...

Closed at 8pm 12/29/2009

Can't even describe the food because the restaurant wasn't open at 8pm for dinner. In fact, arrived at the restaurant at 730pm to find it completely emptied. The sign on the restaurant front was still on for Open so I parked the car and got out only to reach the front door -- Closed. So disappointed, not sure worthwhile to even make a second attempt. more

Closes at 8pm! 12/29/2009

We drove here specifically wanted to try out this restaurant. Heard it had great BBQ. Got here at 7:30 on a Tuesday night, and it was closed. What kind of restaurant closes at 7:30pm?! The hours of operation said 8pm. Even then, what kind of place close that early? Purple Cafe is next door and it is packed! I don't know if I'd bother coming back here, but will see if other reviewers really rave this place. more

Fine for what it is 12/4/2006

The Texas Smoke House barbeque is kittycorner from the Hollywood School House, a few blocks east of Red Hook and The Barking Frog, in a strip mall without nearly enough parking. Prices and food are about what you would expect - the food is slow-cooked and very tender, but not gourmet, and lunch is more expensive than fast food but less so than, say, Red Robin. Food is good for eastside barbeque - better than The Armadillo, which closed recently. It's got flavor rather than just sweet or heat - i.e. no heavy honey or Dixies-style throat burning. It's not a place I'd go weekly, but it's a great place for a change or to go with some buddies on a sunny day, sitting outside with some beer and the BBQ food. more

Fast & hearty BBQ 8/17/2005

Texas Smokehouse BBQ is a "fast food" Texas bbq place in the Hollywood Hill Vineyards shopping area. The menu features sliced pork loin, brisket, ribs, BBQ sandwiches, slow-roasted chicken, etc. Entrees are served with beans, corn bread (not the sweetened kind), and/or potato salad. My husband and I have tried most of the meals. The brisket is pretty good, but the bone-in chicken was disappointing (i.e. no meat!). The spicy BBQ sauce is quite delicious. On Wednesdays, they have the tasty and popular 'Burnt Ends' which sell out very quickly. It's a good place for quick and hearty food. A Texan would probably not find the food very authentic though. The eating area is large and comfortably decorated. There are a few tables outdoors in the summer. The 2005 Entertainment Book has a half price coupon for this restaurant which makes it a decent value. more
