I had made reservations for lunch and when we got there, there was no host to be found. After about 5 minutes, someone came by and told us that there was a five minute wait (despite the fact that the restaurant was only half full). We said ok and went into the foyer to wait. As we were waiting several other guests came and were told they would have to wait ""a couple of minutes"" as well. We all exchanged funny looks with each other as he did not ask for our names, we could all see that there were PLENTY of open tables, and we were give NO explanations for why we were waiting. About fifteen minutes later, we decided to leave (as did about 8 other people). I was really looking forward to a Patina meal too. :(\r I agree with several other reviewers on various websites who mentioned that this restaurant has terrible management and as a result they are probably losing a lot of business. more

My Best friend and I went out to dinner on Valentines Day. I choose Tangata because I was searching for somewhere new to eat and wanted a new experience also they had an ealry reservation at 7:15 .We got to the resturant at 7:15 pm at the exact time of our reservation. We were placed all the way in the back againist a wall. I initally ignored the fact that we were placed there but later felt like we were isoloated because we were two girls eating dinner and not a ?couple? . The waitress them came to take out order We then ordered two drinks, the manger then proceeded to tell us that they ran out of pear for one of their speciality drinks. I was a little disappointed because we made early reservations and the resturant was by no means full. We began eating our table bread and time went on and on. At 8:15 pm and realized it had already been an hour. I began to get upset because I could have made reservations somewhere else if I would?ve known I wouldn?t get seved for an hour. Not even a salad was placed on the table yet. We began looking around and noticed everyone but us had food on their table. We asked a waitess to call over the manager. He came over and attempted to apoligize, he was very demeaning and cruel. He looked like he really didn?t give a care that we were upset, then insulted us by requesting he pay for our two drinks. We were being discriminated againist because we were not with a man on Valentines.We were very upset at this time, we were then promised our food would arrive ASAP. Well, that didn?t happen, our original waitress came up to us and asked us what we ordered because she NEVER put our order in! I had it. She acted like it was no big deal!!! The manager never came back to our table. TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT. No one apoligized to us or anything. I wasted my time at Tangata, after we made our order AGAIN. We got so mad we just left.Someone should look into replacing that manager, the worst service I ever received was from that resturant. Dinner and Movie Night on 11/1/2007, Restaurant was 50% filled, understaffed, we sat down at 6 p.m. and ordered the pre-fix menu for $30 and where assured we make it for the 7:30 Humphrey Bogart Movie at the Museum - 10 steps next door.\r Bar tender was missing, 1/2 full martini?s :(... got combed one so..., salad has ""paper"" in it, steak was not served as ordered and one large steak and 2nd steak 1/2 size ??\r ???.room for improvement.\r \r P.S. get some red wine glasses.\r more
