Warning! Do not waste your time and money! 10/13/2010

I am here solely to spare other people the awful experience we had. We have gambled all over the US and thought would give this a try while on vacation. It's miserable. Don't do it! The flyer advertised free buffet or free entrance, however we were charged $20 per person for the ticket and an additional $10 each for food ( which was terrible). The so called buffet is 4 different things, old reheated nasty food and you don't get to pick your won food. They have people handling the food for you...so not much of a buffet. You wait for the first hour and a half trying to not to kill yourself of boredom as you can't play and there isn't much to do. When the machines finally start working it's like burning money...they machines are corrupted and you get no features, no bonuses...nothing. Old slot machines and very tight. We went through $500 in about a half an hour....insane! So now you're stuck on a ship with nothing to do for hours...Basically...my advice is don't get trapped...don't waste your time. My husband and I couldn't get off the darn thing fast enough. Never again! more

A day of fun??? NOT!!! 6/26/2009

I wish there was a selection for 0 stars because thats what I would rate it. Its a seemingly good concept with poor management. If the casino expects guests to be repeat customers, they better work on their hospitality and manors. I will NOT recommend this cruise to anyone who has the least bit of courtesy and respect for others because they will definitely NOT receive it in return. more

Totally Confused 5/6/2009

Good: Service, all of the staff was fabulous, very accommodating. The entertainment on the top deck was fabulous too! I truly felt like I was in the islands or something. The guy was great.. Bad: The food was horrible!!! There should be a law against serving something that came out of a Banquet box. There are too many fabulous chefs/caterers in the area to serve food that is inedible. Also half of the slot machines were out of order. The boat makes enough money that a customer should never have to see an out of order slot machine.. Improvements: All slots up and running!!! Better food. Cheaper glasses of beer. I paid $3.00 for about 6 ounces of beer. People put enough money in those slot machines that we shouldn't be gouged for beer and nasty food.. Other: I truly love being able to go out for 5 hours on the casino boat out of Cape Canaveral. It was truly a fun, fun day. But I would have rated this a 5 if the food had been better and all of the slots had been available.. more

Welcome aboard an old old boat 11/15/2008

the Sterling casino was a old boat but the difference is it was free, in sun cruz casino you need to pay for everything and really nothing is good in this place... more

pay for 5 hours of torture 11/15/2008

Originally I had come across Sun Cruz via the web. Their page though less attractive had more promotions than the competition and for that reason we chose it. However we were mislead, the promotions of ladies night (free for ladies) and the 5 dollar admission turned out to be 24 for 3 people. The food was decent for another 10 if you had the stomache for it as the boat tossed all night long. We might have enjoyed the free cocktails if if they would have at least stuck to one of their listed promotions... more

You'll Gamble on This Getaway 1/15/2007

A warm and sunshiny winter day is the perfect time to go out on a SunCruz Casino Cruise. SunCruz has several boats, sailing out of Mayport/Jacksonville, Ponce Inlet/Daytona Beach, Cape Canaveral, John's Pass Village in Madeira Beach, Key Largo and Palm Beach (soon). I've been on the SunCruz XII out of Cape Canaveral several times, so I'll review that cruise in particular. The SunCruz XII is the biggest ship SunCruz has in Florida. It carries 1,200 people and is 308' long. The boat sails twice a day. The day cruise leaves at 11:00 a.m. every day and the evening cruise sets sail at 7:00 p.m. Each cruise lasts from five to six hours. There is no charge to get on the boat and parking is free. You'll find they have four decks with gambling on every deck. There are over 640 slots, including nickel machines. Some machines bet up to $100 per pull. They also have more than 35 tables with blackjack, roulette, mini baccarat, craps, Caribbean stud poker, let it ride, 3-card poker and live poker (cash games). One of the decks has a poker room, which is where the cash games are played. There are also tournaments held on some of the cruises but the schedule varies. Check the schedule at this http://www.suncruzcasino.com/document_display.cfm?document_id=75 if you're interested in playing one of the tournaments. There are quite a few special promotions each month, too. You can check the calendar http://www.suncruzcasino.com/document_display.cfm?document_id=30 to find the current month's offerings. SunCruz offers a lunch buffet ($7) on the afternoon cruises and a dinner buffet ($10) during the evening cruises. There is also an a la carte menu. Free well drinks available while you are gambling, but you'll pay for sodas and bottled water. You'll find live entertainment at the Tiki bar, outside on the rear deck. I've had mixed feelings about the employees I've dealt with on this cruise. I've had one dealer who was extremely rude, a couple who were very slow and inefficient, but three or four who were wonderful. The manager in the poker room has been extremely helpful when I've had questions about different rules and policies. After one cruise where the seas were quite high, I needed a wheelchair to leave the ship. I had not taken mine with me because I felt good when we went out. The first manager my husband approached practically ignored him when he asked for help. There was another employee, however, who bent over backwards to find a wheelchair and bring it to us. He even wheeled me out to our car when we disembarked. I would give this cruise a 4-star great rating if I hadn't had so many negative experiences with the people who work on the ship. The port is very easy to find; however, if you don't feel like driving or just want to save the expense of gas, SunCruz has several busses that will pick you up at many locations across Florida. Some of these are located in Orlando, Cocoa Beach, Jensen Beach, Port St. Lucie, Ft. Pierce, Indian River, Vero Beach, Melbourne, Kissimmee, St. Cloud, Zephyrhills, Lakeland, Winter Haven, Haines City, Ocala and Leesburg. You do need to make reservations to use the bus. Call 1-800-474-DICE (3423) or look at the bus schedule http://www.suncruzcasino.com/document_display.cfm?document_id=28 for more information. Note that everyone must show a valid State or Federal photo ID in order to board. You must be 18 to sail and 21 to consume alcoholic beverages. You will have to pass through a metal detector and may be scanned with a metal-detecting wand before you are allowed to board. Purses and anything carried on will be searched. Knives, scissors, anything with a blade, etc., will have to be returned to your car or will be confiscated. If you get seasick, you may want to call 1-800-474-DICE (3423) to find out what the waves are like before going out. This boat is small enough that you can feel the up and down motion if the seas are very high. Cruises can be canceled if the weather is deemed too dangerous to sail. A few hours spent on the SunCruz XII is a fun experience. I've even come away a winner. more

Eat before you go... 7/17/2006

The food was horrible...save yourself from a stomach ache... The boat is run down looking... I played slots most of the time...in the no smoking area most of time. The waitress was great. I felt bad for her, looked as if the people around me didn't know how to tip...(it's free drinks, the least you could do is give her a tip). Over all I won and had a great time doing so. Don't expect a luxurious gambling cruise ship...it isn't...but accept it...it's a free trip. more

A lot of fun & a pleasant ocean outting too 8/20/2005

Sun Cruz is one of two different "casino cruises" available from Port Canaveral. They have two half-day cruises, one leaves in the morning, the other in early evening. The cruise is free, although you do need to make reservations in advance. There is a buffet meal available at a reasonable cost. We found the food to be so-so, not bad but nothing great either. There are several different casino areas on the ship - you can play the slots, or try poker, roulette, baccarat or other table games. We always stuck with the slot machines. Although we never had any luck ourselves, we did see several people win nice jackpots every time we went on the cruise! You can go outside & sit out on the deck to simply enjoy the ocean breeze & view - this is always a favorite activity for us when we go!!! We'll spend an hour or so in the casino, then we'll be outside the rest of the time! Wheelchair accessibility is moderately good, considering the difficulties that are unavoidable on a smaller cruise ship. The staff is always quite helpful and assists us in any way we need help with. We highly recommend Sun Cruz as the casino cruise to pick here in central FL! more

Small and old boat 8/17/2005

I went on the Suncruz casino boat with a few friends and do not plan on going back. My time on the boat was spent mostly hanging my head over the rails because that is how sick I got. The boat is so small compared to the Sterling casino boat that I got very sea sick. The only thing I did appreciate is the fact that the employees did seem to care and offered me some type of drink and told me it would make me feel better. If you want to go on a casino boat but are afraid you are going to get sea sick go on the sterling as it is much bigger. more

Just OK 7/12/2005

This is not the nicest gambling boat. The chances of winning are not bad, but not the best. The food a ok, but not great. As long as you are gambling you can drink anything you want for free. The price to get on the boat is a little high unless you can find coupons. more
