Disappointed 2/18/2009

My husband and I went to Carvers for Valentines day and while I found the restaurant nice and romantic, the food was very disappointing. We had the filet and lobster for dinner. The filet was tough and had no flavor. I even had to put a little salt on it! The lobster was fine and the potatoes were good. Salad was not that great and they wouldn't let you choose your dressing, weird. Cocktails were good and strong. I had a giftcard that was from the old company (Paragon?)and they gave me a bankruptcy form to fill out since they don't accept those cards! What a joke! I can make better steak at home. Pros: Ambience, service Cons: food more

Great Overall experience 4/7/2008

This is one of the best romantic spots is Roseville. It is a bit expensive and I recommend that you make a reservation in advance. You can make a reservation the same day so call ahead to avoid waiting. The food and service was excellent. I recommend the Stuffed Mushroom appetizer. Pros: food and service more

LOVE IT 10/1/2007

This is one of our favorite places to have a good steak. I really enjoy dining there late, when its less busy and a little more quiet. But even in the middle of the dinner rush, I've still been satisfied with the service and meal. We love the good old-fashioned service that most other restaurants now lack! Pros: Service and great food! Cons: Sometimes it can be noisy more

Wonderful steak. Always left feeling satisfied. 3/13/2007

On the 3 occasions that I have been to Carver's, I have always been extremely pleased with my meal. The filet mignon is superb, cuts like butter, full of flavor, extremely tender and melts in your mouth. The service has been very good, even when crowded and the staff pleasant. Atmosphere in the booths is very nice. Pros: Excellent steak and nice ambiance. Cons: A little noisy at times. more

Carvers has gone downhill!! 9/28/2006

Just left Carvers. Took my wife there for her birthday. Took a nice bottle of Champagne with us. The restaurant did NOT have champagne glasses! Waiter told us the Manager said to use port or sherry glasses!!! Meal was above average but EXTREMELY noisy!! They have valet parking. When we picked up car from valet, someone had been sitting in it, playing with radio, adjusting A/C and seats. TACKY! Of course valet manager denied everything! This restaurant is not as good as it once was....there are many more in the area worth going to besides Carvers. Cons: You can drink champagne from a beer mug...they don't own champagne glasses!! more

Pricey but pleasant 2/8/2006

The decor was very elegant. The staff was superb. Other than the cocktail sauce having a little too much horseradish, everything tasted exquisite. They have child menus with a pretty standard selection for children. They were quick to remove our dishes after each course and keep our drinks filled. If any of the staff walked by and noticed something they promptly took care of it themselves. My wife was astonished when they replaced the bread plates with the bread! This was a true dinning experience with one small exception. It was extremely noisy from everyones conversation bouncing off the ceiling which is why I cant recommend this restaurant for a romantic date. Then came the check. A meal for two can easily reach $100 excluding alcohol. The portions match the price and considering todays prices its not that outrageous. Overall, it was excellent. I would highly recommend it. Pros: Food/taste, Service, Decor Cons: Noisy more

How to cook a steak 7/11/2005

The last two times that I have been to carver's I was very disappointed. I asked for medium rare on my steak and one time it was well done and the oter was medium well. The falvor of the meat wasn't. Also I had a reservation for four and was try8ing to add 2 more and was told that I couldn't get the extra people and would have to wait two hours. After arriving at the restaurant there were empty tables the whole time we dined. more

Poor cooking 6/6/2005

Ordered a filet rare and it came out grey and raw. Sent it back. Server offered a different choice (other than steak) saying ""They don't know how to cook steaks rare, no one orders it that way"" This is a top rated steak house?? You've got to be kidding. more

I keep going back, Why? 3/24/2005

Out of Ribeye Steaks... 7/16/2003

I went to Carvers on Wed. nite and they ran out of Ribeye Steaks at 6pm. For a steakhouse that suppose to be ranked high....how could they be out of this steak when it is on their menu twice....I was very disappointed with this situation since that is why I went there in the first place...for a ribeye steak....won't be returning soon... more

This place is the best! 5/15/2003

I was on a business trip in Roseville and we went to Carvers for dinner. From the first appetizer to dessert, the food was outstanding. I am a very picky eater and want my food prepared exactly as I order it. This rarely happens on the first attempt at most restaurants, but Carvers got it right the first time and everything was excellent. I ordered the Filet and was able to cut it with my fork alone, which shows me how tender their steaks are. I highly recommend Carvers for a wonderful dining experience more

The best of everything 1/3/2003

The New York Steak and the Filet are both fine grades of beef, prepared as instructed. The service is great, too. more

Consistantly Yummy! 12/29/2002

Took my wife to the restaurant on a whim. We ordered the Filet Mignon, and it was the best steak we've ever had! It always has the same great taste and flavor. This is what keeps us coming back. We live in Elk Grove, and it is a long drive to Roseville, but it is worth it! We try to eat at Carver's every couple of months. Dana likes the Lobster & Filet dinner. I always stick with the 8 oz. filet mignon w/rice and get a caesar salad. The servers are always very courteous and helpful. Make reservations so you won't be dissapointed. Pros: Best Steak in Sac, Great service, great atmosphere Cons: Too far from EG more

classy 11/23/2002

We always pick Carver's for special occasions and have never been disappointed. With reservations we have never had to wait. With growing population in South Placer, we definitely make use of restaurants where you can still make a reservation. Big plus, excellent menu! Pros: takes reservations, excellent service, classy dining experie Cons: none so far more

Rib Heaven 10/25/2002

Better quality @ a lower price than the other rest. on the list. Try their ribs! more

Oh pleeeeze 10/3/2002

How can a chain restaurant be a romantic winner? I've eaten here and it's loud, overpriced and crowded. Not a place I'd choose to snuggle over dinner with my sweetie. The food is good but overpriced, there are lots of great steak places. Pros: tasty food Cons: crowded, overpriced, loud more
