Springhill Restaurant

I used to eat here pretty frequently. The food wasn't spectacular but the restaurant feel was very down-home and it was the closest place to get a decent chicken-fried steak with mashed potatoes, cream gravy, and fried okra. Service was always friendly and acceptable. Now I won't set foot in the place. Why? Because they entered into a contract to sell gift certificates on Restaurant dot com and then refused to honor them. That makes them liars and guilty of deceptive business practices. Restaurant dot com is a good website and I'd never had problems with any of the restaurants they partnered with until now. I bought 4 of the gift certificates only to discover a sign on Springhill's door stating ""We will no longer honor gift certificates from Restaurant dot com. Sorry for the inconvenience."" If you want an acceptable meal priced a little high from crooks, this is the place to go. I'd rather spend my money at an honest establishment. more

What a huge disappointment. This place used to be the place to go for great catfish and friendly and prompt service. I had not been in a few years and my boyfriend and I were in the mood for catfish. I told him how great this place was only to find out that was the furthest from the truth! The catfish was MUDDY tasting and the fries had a weird mildew aftertaste to them. If were weren't starving we would have left. We waited almost 30 mins for our food and our waitress was unfriendly and unattentive. Not once did she come by to ask us if everything was ok or if we'd like dessert but she managed to extend this courtesy to other patrons. You would think after seeing we both only ate 2 of the 5 fillets each and barely touched our sides..that that would have indicated something may have been wrong with our food. This was the actual first time I did not leave a tip to a waitress. If the food was bad but the service was good then I would not bother writing a negative review but sad to say both were terrible. We will never go back again. TERRIBLE FOOD TERRIBLE SERVICE. Save your money and go to Catfish Parlour! more

I had a great time, spent the day listening to Ralph Stanley and when the wife said she wanted a chicken fried steak for dinner I decided we should try here. She had the chicken fried steak and I the chicken fried chicken. The chicken was the best but the steak wasn't bad. Mashed potatoes seemed like they might be of the boxed variety so maybe take the baked 'tater. The kids meals were a good value as well. The onion rings were great. I will skip lunch next time before I go since there was enough food for two meals. Pros: chicken fried chicken and onion rings Cons: mashed potatoes and I ate too much more

I didn't like this food. It was plain and we were served with plastic plates, plastic forks, and plastic cups. I couldv'e made my own fish and served myself with plastic dishes. I will never go there again. Cons: food plain, plastic plates more

We have recently moved to the Austin area and have had one of our most enjoyable family dining experiences at Springhill Restaurant in Pflugerville. We were impressed by having such a wonderful family experience. The kid's had a great meal; and we had the best fried shrimp, onion rings (on a tower) and perfectly fried catfish we have ever had. The service was fast and friendly and they were extremely busy. It seems to be a real family gathering place and we can see why. Pros: Best food and family atmosphere more
