This restaurant is the Detroit version of tapas having come before the recent national trend, although Detroit city also has its share of regular tapas joints. It's nice inside a...

Small Plates WAS a regular ""go to"" b/c dtw options are few and they stay open sort of late (for Detroit at least). I have NEVER had good service there, the staff is always rude...

My recommendation? Skip Small Plates and proceed directly to Lafayette Coney Island. There you will find sufficient amounts of truly tasty food, instead of eponymous small plates filled with pretentious, pseudo-Continental fare. I know the purpose of tapas restaurants is to share with the whole table and taste some of everything, but there's no reason you can't share Lafayette's chili cheese fries and onion rings (except they're so scrumptious, you won't want to). The main draw of Small Plates is its location across from the Detroit Opera House. Opera going friends, make your way downtown a little earlier so you can catch the People Mover to Greektown and eat a decent meal there (or save up your appetite for post-show coneys at Lafayette). more

This is a toppas restaurant that has some yummy food. They have a small, yet good menu that you can order appetizers from and then split them with friends. Its a great place to go for a date or with friends. Its fun tasting all the different foods. I really liked their small pizza's too. Plenty of parking, if not on the street there is a parking garage close by. Prices are a little high for the amount of food you get, but still a fun place to go. more
