I had a great experience with Seams B 5/12/2012

I had a great experience with Seams B Fitting! I dropped my dress off 4 weeks before my wedding and Jeff, the owner, had my dress done a week before my wedding. He took the sides in, bustled it, and put hooks on the bra. The bustle looks absolutely stunning and the fit is perfect! The cost was a lot less than I expected as well. I highly recommend Seams B Fitting! more

Another Bride in Tears 8/19/2011

Okay, I'll admit it: I read the two very negative reviews and still went to this place. My sister and my aunt had both recommended this place to me (niether of them had wedding dresses altered - it was shirts and jackets). So I decided to take my wedding dress in, following the advice of the woman I talked to on the phone who said 3 weeks before the wedding would be plenty of time. I should point out this woman barely spoke English. I was wary, but trusted my family. I brought in the dress and a man pinned my hem, bustle and waist that needed to be taken in. I did not need major surgery on the dress, just a few tweaks. My grandmother was with me, and heard him say the dress would be ready in one week. This was a Wednesday. I came back the following Wednesday to find my dress being worked on, he said he had a girl sick the day before, and was behind, so to come back tomorrow. I should point out that at this point I saw my bridesmaids dresses hainging in the store as well, since three of my bridesmaids were the daughters of the aunt that recommended the place to me. We came back that Thursday, I put the dress on, and it was clearly not done. Only the outer layer had been hemmed, so tulle was poking 5 inches out the bottom. My mother asked him what the problem was, and he said ""[He] would never have said it would be ready in one week."" He promised it would be ready on Tuesday (my wedding was the Saturday after that). So we had no choice but to come back that Tuesday, and the dress was STILL not done, but all of my bridesmaid's dresses were. He said he just had to move some hooks and eyes on the bustle, and it would be done in a few hours. So the fourth time we came back, four days before my wedding, we got my dress. I was crying during the final fitting, I was so frustrated. He wanted $260 for all the alterations, and would not budge on the price even after all we had been through. Furthermore, the bustle on my dress was lopsided, which my mom could see during the final fitting, but decided to just fix it herself since we were so very DONE with dealing with the man. I saw several women working in the store, but apart from the initial phone call, only interacted with the man. The hem and waist alterations were fine, but could have been done anywhere. This was undoubtedly the worst experience I had with planning an otherwise beautiful wedding. I wish I had something nice to say, but I must be honest. Those were not the tears I was envisioning when I thought about seeing my dress altered. more

Estimate was three times less than actual cost 7/10/2010

I took in a bridesmaid dress wanting to know how much it would cost to add a lace up back. When the woman who worked there didn't understand what I was saying because she doesn't speak English a man came out and talked to me. He said that he would need me to pick up the material at Joann Fabrics and bring it back and then it would be an estimate of 40-60 dollars because he thought it would take him 1-1.5 hours to complete and he charges $40/hr. When I came to pick up the dress he forgot to move the straps as he stated he would do, he did however fix this while I waited and then when I paid for the dress he said that he worked on it over 4 hrs and my total came to $109. I cannot believe that he could be this far off on an estimate. I was very very unhappy with this and don't want anyone to be ripped off like I was. DO NOT USE THEM, you'll be sorry you did if you do. The bride and I would have picked out a completely different dress if we knew it would cost this much to alter. I would have driven to the Purple Pin cushion in Mayville, WI where they don't overcharge for work done. When I had a lace up back put in my wedding dress there it only cost me $28 AND they bought the fabric that was needed. Cons: Price and Estimates more

Crying Bride 12/8/2008

Awful. Brought my wedding dress in for alterations, including a bussel - and they cut the train right off the dress! I was still charged for a bussel and the owner refuses to admit any mistake on their part. Ruined a beautiful dress and a bride's day :( more
