I live in Pittsburgh and had a surprise vacation planned for my boyfriend's birthday in Ohio. I NEVER board our dog, and spent a significant amount of time finding a kennel and hotel in Ohio with lots of special ammenities. The day of the trip, around 3:30 pm, I called the kennel and said, ""I'm pushing time, I just wanted to make sure you closed at 5:00 pm."" The woman replied, ""We actually close at 5:30 pm to make sure the dogs are all settled in."" I told her I was running late, but I was definately coming. I didn't want them to leave early. The woman was understanding and knew who I I was from previous conversations. There was crazy, unexpected traffic on our drive there. Paranoid about time, I called them again at 5:30 pm, and received their voicemail, where it said they were open till 5:30 pm, but currently closed and to leave a message. I frantically said my name and phone number, telling them I was on my way.
Pros: They know how to lock their doors
Cons: THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO RUN A PROFESSIONAL BUSINESS
