Best

I brought my Honda Fit in the shop. It was running very badly and was going on a trip. They said it needed ignition coils. :( I called around and they were actually extremely fair...

Worst

Before you waste your time, do not even consider going here. I took my volvo because the car was shaking, felt like the axle. They told me it was a balance, which I paid 75.00 for...

First… I would just like to Thank You guys for such great and fast service. I would highly recommend this repair shop. My maintenance check engine light came on as I was one day away from going out of town. Of course the worst timing ever! I needed someone to find the issue and quickly get my car back to me. As I am new to the area and unfamiliar with Oak Ridge a co-worker of mine told me to go to this shop and they would take care of me. Thanks so much for the recommendation as I took my car in that morning and had it back before the day ended. Couldn’t have worked out better! more

Editorial review from Citysearch 11/16/2012

Since most people seem to write reviews like a dining experience, usually when their only unhappy, I try to make a point to post information about both. Recently I took my car in to Rivers Total Car Care as my boyfriend instructed me that my power steering pump seemed to be going out. I anticipated, not knowing relatively anything about vehicles, my car would need to be in the shop for several days. No one likes not having their vehicle especially with rental car charges accruing, which I was able to opt out of because a staff member explained to me they take their customers home or to work upon leaving their vehicle for repair. That part was awesome! However, I was still about to spend an unexpected amount. Later the same day I received a phone call referencing the issues at hand with my car. Of course there were more repairs needed, which we all hate to hear and always wonder how true this is. While I was speculating what I was hearing this was the kicker that got me? For the first time ever I was asked if I would like to physically see the repairs needed prior to the work being completed. Well yeah!... No one would pass that opportunity up without already having a reason to trust a mechanic. The next problem on my list was that I don?t leave work until 6:00PM and there is No Way for me to see these repairs until afterwards, but Yet Again the staff member stated they were open until 7:00PM. This worked out perfect. Upon our arrival, my boyfriend and I were taken in to their actual garage where my car was kept and able to review and discuss these repairs with their technician. Every point they made seemed completely needed as I do not have the time or money for major repairs down the road. We approved the repairs and to my delight received another phone call the following day. My car was already completed and at a cost we both felt was actually reasonable considering the quality we felt we were receiving. It was great to see a garage full of vehicles and feel like my car wasn?t just sitting around while other major jobs with more money potential could?ve been pushed to the front of the line. Overall, I must say despite some of the reviews I?ve read prior to this posting, I have finally found a great mechanic shop! more

Scam, dishonest and wouldn't solve of refund problem 3/1/2012

Before you waste your time, do not even consider going here. I took my volvo because the car was shaking, felt like the axle. They told me it was a balance, which I paid 75.00 for. Also they happened to find a million other things wrong with my engine that there was nothing like ever before. I trusted them, they told me I need a new cam gear and everything, about a grand worth of work done to a car I take perfect car of. I decided to take the car to the dealer, turns out somehow the seal was broken, no Major gears needed to be replaced. Oh and the car was still shacking so bad I could barely drive it, turns out it was the axle. I called the manager and he said he will not fix the problem, or offer a refund for even the 75 dollars. So I paid them 350 dollars to rip up my engine, and do a balance that wasn't needed. They wont fix, or even offer at least a refund for 70 bucks. The manager does carry a gun, as said in other reviews. The contract you sign basically says he can do whatever he wants, including take your car, read the small print. They are just trying to make money off women. Please, dont take your car here, because they will rip you off. I never write bad reviews, but I would hate for anyone to be treated like I was by Rivers total car care. more

Worst business in Oak Ridge 2/18/2012

I wish I could give no stars, This place is a complete rip off. I know people who have worked here before, and the mechanics are encouraged to take advantage of older people and women. The owner is a complete a$*hole, he is always carrying a gun, I guess like the previous comment said, because he has ""screwed"" so many people over. They had false Better Business Bureau plaques hanging on the wall, until one customer called them out on them. I would be sure to check around before taking my car here, because I promise you can find prices a lot cheaper all across Oak Ridge, with people you can actually trust. more

Great Service! My Car is Like NEW! 10/31/2011

I brought my Honda Fit in the shop. It was running very badly and was going on a trip. They said it needed ignition coils. :( I called around and they were actually extremely fair and cheaper than some places. I then got my vehicle detailed and absolutely LOVE the job! My car is like NEW again! more

Seem to be fair 10/6/2011

Fixed for me what another shop screwed up. more

Beware of crooks here. 7/30/2011

I ""had"" been a customer here for a long time but I will NEVER take my cars to them again. Initially they were a really good business but over the last couple of times that I have been there I wasnt so sure till this last time I went. I had been having problems with my right passenger window and took it down to get repaired. Did not like the estimate I was told but I needed to have it reparied. The following day I called to see if my car was ready and was told it was ready. Was also told that the left side passenger window was going bad also and would I like it fixed. I told them not to mess with that window at this time. It was already costing me 423 dollars for the original repair. I got down there and paid my bill, and went out to get my car. To my great surprise I noticed the left side window was down. I got in and checked the windows. The right side window worked but when I tried the left it didnt work. Went inside to ask the guy at the desk about it and was told ""I told you that the other window was bad"". I told him I thought I told you guys not to mess with the other window. He then told me we didnt mess with that window. I then said well how in the world is it that my window wont work now. Then the same response. Then was told If I wanted them to fix the other window they would give me a discount. Really? I made a scene and told them I would never bring my cars there again if thats how they treat their loyal customers. Then one of the owners came out and told me that they would never mess with my windows and and that I shouldnt feel like I had been screwed over. I noticed that the owner had a gun holstered to his side. I guess if you screw enough people you feel like you need protection from angry customers that have been taken advantage of. So I left and went home and called Pep Boys in Knoxville. To my great surprise they fixed my other window for 276 dollars. Wow cant you believe the difference from 423 dollars that I was charged at the Rivers. Wonder how long I have been getting screwed over there. Like I said. beware if you take your car there. more

Great Shop 3/10/2009

Very fair, clean and honest shop. I took my vehicle in for an oil change and tire rotation while I waited. I was called out to look at my vehicle and the service writer showed me somethings that may give me problems in the near future. They told me that some of the things could wait and some need to be addressed as soon as possible. They did not overwhelm me with alot of technical talk that I could not understand, they were up front and honest and spoke in terms I could understand. The prices they quoted me were also very reasonable. I would definitely recommend them to friends and family!!!! Pros: Very nice VIP lounge, Served me lunch more
