I managed to talk with Big Ed's son and David Nuessel which now runs the restaurant and discovered the man, Just like his father has a heart of gold to the needy, Military and Law enforcement.
When his father started the place back in the early 70's, he always made sure the children's home had a thanks Giving meal and even to this day, this happens and some of those of the less fortunate even get the opportunity to get a more directed better start by working and not being out on the streets of
misdirection and corruption.
You rock Mr Nuessel and long live Big Ed's!
Pros: Best Pizza flavor in town!
Cons: Small Plates but you get used to them.

Big Ed's is an Icon. This is the best pizza that you will find in the area. Yes, it look like a hole in the wall, and you are just as likely to find a roach on the floor as you are a straw. And yes, I am frightened to go downstairs to the bathroom by myself, but I would go everyday of the week there to eat if I could afford it. Tell them that it is your birthday and you will more than likely get a free t-shirt out of the visit. I'll warn you to go to an early dinner there, because if you don't you will be waiting in line a long time- usually outside.

The bagels are made fresh daily and they are delicious and never dried out. You can pick from many bagel sandwiches ranging from the typical sausage, egg, and ham selections to a tomato and cheese variety great for vegetarians and those with little cash to spend. The service is fast and there is a case of soft drinks and juices if you don’t happen to be in the mood for coffee with your meal. The owner is friendly and works right behind the counter and the restaurant is a cozy place to eat your breakfast and start your day.
You can also pick up pastries, quiches, and sandwiches. It’s a great stop anytime of the day.

I have eaten here a couple of times. I wasn't expecting much based on the track record of the restaurants that have been at this location. The food was wonderful. Everyone that I was with loved their meal as well. The price was reasonable and the service was excellent.

Every time that I have eaten here, the food has been great. It is a good atmosphere and prices are reasonable. Love the chips and salsa. Drink specials are always wonderful too. The food is more than enough to fill you up - and even to share.

very good, lots of variety and always really fresh & hot!! The price is reasonable for a Buffett and the staff is very nice! My family and I love asain food and my husband loves sushi but we can't always afford the fancy stuff stuff! This is a very happy medium!

You haven't really eaten in Oak Ridge until you have experienced the Magic Wok. Half the town simply calls it "Betty's" after the owner. The food is great and cheap, and served up with a smile. A national landmark.
The atmosphere would politely be described as funky. Indeed, it looks like a hole in the wall. Patrons serve themselves drinks from 2-liter bottles passed around from table to table, spices in a morter and pestal are also shared, and the menu selection is limited to the four woks Betty has cooking at a time.
Friday is Thai food day, especially popular.
Go to the window, or go inside, and call out your order when you can get their attention. It is worth the effort. The red building with an awning is small inside, but there are tables in the backroom.
So visit Betty.
Pros: Great food, fast and cheap. Great interaction between all the other diners. Everyone eats at Betty's.
Cons: Parking is limited. Ambience might be a con for some, but most patrons LOVE the kitchy decor.
