An amazing oceanfront view 8/5/2007

I loved this restaurant! Although the menu did not offer anything for my kid, we asked the server and she brought out a suprise...a small portion of spaghetti with marinara sauce that was perfect for my child. Next she brought out the fresh bread which was amazing, and then my filet mignon which made my mouth water. Last, the warm apple tart that contrasted with the cold ice cream ended my meal perfectly. I highly recommend this restaurant. The servers were very kind and looked professional but were so welcoming that they still made me feel like I was at my mom's home for dinner. Also, the wine went beautifully with the oceanside view. I absolutely had the best experience here at Pacific Edge. Pros: Great food, great servers, great atmosphere, fabulous experience more

Great food and service! 8/2/2007

I took my mother and grandmother here while they were in town. Service is very important to me and the service was wonderful here! The waiter told us about unique specials they had, the soup will sounded creative and had an Asian flair. However, we ordered from the menu and the ""suggested wine"" to go with each dish. Dinner was fantastic! The portions were perfect despite what people say. It was just enough and gave room for a desert or app. Even though we didn't order desert the waiter created a dish of his own as a complementary treat! The atmosphere seemed fancy, but the staff was kind and comfortable. more

Delicious! 7/27/2007

This is such a beautiful restaurant... it has an amazing view of the peir/ocean, especially around sunset. It is a very romantic restaurant with an imtimate setting. The food was absolutely delicious! I started with the soup du jour, which was lobster bisque... and i loved it! Everywhere I go I always order this soup, but this was by far the best I've ever tasted. Then I had one of the specials of the night... wild sock-eye salmon, which also left me impressed. Then I finished off with a trio of creme brulee and each one was a different flavor. I've never tried flavored creme brulee before so I found this very creative and interesting. The whole experience was wonderful and I will definately be back! Pros: delicious more

Bad Restaurant 7/19/2007

Poor service, small portions only added to the miserable experience at Pacific Edge. When we asked a question about the listed specials, the server needed to go ask someone and then told us that the specials were sold out last night. The food was not hot and it took a very long time to arrive. They do not offer any bread or even water when you first sit down. The place was pretty empty but they would not give us a table by the window even though they were expecting a large party, that never arrived. Cons: bad restaurant all around more

Impressive! 7/18/2007

I recently ate at Pacific Edge, and I was very impressed. First of all, I was sat at a window table with an amazing ocean view. Then I ordered a four course tasting menu which included: french onion soup, sea scallops provencal, filet mignon, and cream brulee all for $45! I also added a wine pairing, which included a glass of wine with each course for only $15! I recomend the tasting menu to everyone... each course was wonderful. I was so full but I kept eating because the food was absolutely delicious. (It was probably the best filet I've ever had.) Aside from the taste, the presentation of the dishes was also beautiful. The service was great... our server was friendly and attentive. I love this restaurant, and I would recomend to anyone! Pros: Beautiful view, and delicious food! more

Best kept secret with an awesome view of sunset and Redondo Beach Pier for a romantic good value dinner 7/16/2007

We went there again on a Friday night for dinner, my wife, myself and my youngest son. We were served the crab cake to start out. It was wonderful (my son enjoyed it as well even though he does not like seafood nor crustacean too much). My dinner was the sesame crusted Ahi tuna. It was done to perfection. It was seared perfectly and evenly on 4 sides and rare inside. I just hope the portion will be bigger since it was som delicious. My wife had the salmon and it was firm, daker in color, and it did not seem to be farm raised. The texture was flaky and the taste was flavorful. The salmon serving was more generous. My son had the chicken and it was juicy and tender as well. The ambience was so relaxing and romantic. The dinning area faces the Redondo Beach Pier with huge picturesque. You can feel the pounding waves from ocean and watch the gorgeous sunset during the summer month. And even though this place is not very big but the tables weren't very closed to each other. You don't have to rub elbow with your next table. The service was a bit slow to our taste. But with the view and tranquility, that didn't bother my wife or I a bit. My teenage son was ignored but what do you expect from a teenager. The owner told us that the restaurant also serves a wine tasting event every month. The cost is about $65 per person for a 4 or 5 course dinner pairing with wines. This is also a perfect place for the 4th of July firework we were told. We will try that next year since we already miss this year's 4th of July celebration. Pros: Awesome view, exceptional food, transquil and romantic ambience, Great value Cons: service is a bit slow but give us more time to enjoy the gorgeous sunset and pounding waves more

Great food - much better than chain, it's made fresh daily and the view is great too. 7/5/2007

I have to tell you this place is a hidden jewel. The food is excellent, I highly recommend it. Eveything is good, I don't like chain food so this place is a winner. I had the Lamb special and my date had a Halibut special, nice presentation and the servers were very friendly and nice. Wine service was done by the owner, she was very attentive. I like discovering new places where the owner cares about the quality of the food and service. Servers are very nice too, it's kind of like family business but with a professional chefs. Pros: Great food, friedly service Cons: hard to find, call and get directions more

A Truly Bad Experience 5/10/2007

Perhaps the worst dining experience we have had in a very long time. The food taste was OK but everything else was pretty bad. The service was very slow and inattentive. At two hours after opening they were out of the soup of the day and the daily pasta! The view is OK but much better at other restaurants in the RB Pier area. We had to ask for bread twice before it was delivered. When the credit card slip was provided it was a hand written unreadable form and the original invoice was missing. During our 2+ hours wasted here not one other customer arrived, except those attending a birthday party. more

Great restaurant - ocean view and romantic atmosphere 4/28/2007

We came here looking for a restaurant where we can host a banquet, and were very pleasantly surprised! The service was very personable and not overbearing. Pros: Great food, good service, nice atmosphere Cons: little difficult to find more

Nothing Special 4/28/2007

We (party of 2) arrived at a completely empty restuarant at 6:00 pm on a Friday evening and were left sitting in the lobby for about 5 minutes before a hostess finally arrived to seat us (we had reservations). We ordered a bottle of wine from a fairly short wine list and asked about the specials. We were told that there were no specials this evening. This is significant because the menu offers a very limited selection without the specials that are referenced by the menu. I was also surprised to see that the menu was somewhat different from what is shown on their web page. The service was somewhat amateurish and the food was just okay. We left at about 7:30, at which time there were a total of 3 parties dining. (Tony's, which you can see from the window was packed full of people). All in all, the experience can be summed up as ""nothing special"". more

romantic view, great seafood, excellent wine selection, attentive service 3/3/2007

This is definitely romantic dining - try to catch a sunset there. The servers were very attentive. I've written several wine reviews for newspapers and magazines over the years and this restaurant's wine selection is well considered. I would highly recommend Pacific Edge for dinner meetings because the staff seems to be comfortable and proficient in handling larger groups. Highly recommended. Pros: food, view and service Cons: parking - although available, a little difficult to find more

Romantic setting, ocean front with great food 2/10/2007

I recently took my date because I heard it is romantic and I wanted an ocean front window seating. The place was a hidden treasure. The staff was friendly and nice. The food was the best I've had. My date ordered French Onion Soup and Halibut du jour, I was hungry so decided to try their 4 course tasting menu. First course I had crab cakes, second course I had Soup du jour which was shrimp bisque, for main course I had the Filet Mignon (delicious and med. rare like I ordered) it was so good and tender I did not need a steak knife. For dessert we shared Grand marnier chocolate mousse. all this for $45. course. She was very impressed with me, I can't believe why this place doesn't have a waiting list. Best place to take a date, nice place to watch the sunset and have a quiet conversation. Pros: Romantic, nice ocean view, food is excellent. Cons: Hard to find but there is a parking near the Torrance Blvd. more

I love this ocean view bistro. Food was delicious and the presentation was very creative and trendy. I had the Salmon in puff pastry shell, it was the best ,Filet was great too. Friendly service. 2/8/2007

This place is great, ocean front seating was very romantic and elegant. I ordered Salmon in puff pastry shell, it was delicious. My friend had a 4 course tasting menu; first course was French onion soup, second course crab cakes or Ahi tuna tartar, (we had ahi) main course was choice of but we had Filet Mignon, it was so tender and cooked to perfection. staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend it, it's very unsual to find such good food in Redondo Beach and the view is great. Best time to go is before the sunset. Oh, their telephone no. was listed wrong on aol. it is 310 798-3343. I'm going to have a Bridal Reception there. Pros: Beautiful ocean front, great food, the best place to go with a date. Cons: It's on the Redondo Beach Pier, but upstairs. hard to find, call and get directions more

Inferior Banquet Service 12/19/2006

My company booked our company Christmas party at this location and we were thoroughly disappointed. The restaurant operators were gracious enough to host a pre-party tasting, where the food was delicious and the service was great, but when it came down to the actual party it was a completely different story. Pros: Nice intimate location and accomodating staff Cons: Poor banquet service more

Fabulous View Restaurant 6/28/2006

I cannot believe the last review. My family, my friends, and my boyfriend have loved this resturant since they opened. I have dinner here at least once a month. We have always had a beautiful dining experience. A few days ago when my boyfriend was entertaining his out-of-town family here, the restaurant had two new gourmet soup specials, a new halibut dish, and one of the desserts was a unique crem brule trio - apple caramel, strawberry chocolate and cherry passion fruit. It was highly recommended by a young couple nearby and could be shared by everyone at the table. The resto has also added optional wine flights to go with each meal - you get tastings of three different wines for $9, $10, or $12 depending on the selection you choose. They also have wine by the glass as well as full bottles, but I enjoy the variety. Last year, we watched the July 4 fireworks from here and it was the best view in Redondo plus the dinner before was great. This is my favorite special occasion restaurant - small dining space, fabulous view, great food. It's not a noisy fish or steak house. Please don't come here in case that's what you are looking for. Nothing wrong with those establishments, but this is not one of those. And the price for what you get here is very moderate for the quality you receive. Pros: Ambience, cuisine, unpretentious dress- casual or dressy, friendly service, unusual dishes. Cons: Entrance a little difficult to find. more

great food with a great view 6/5/2006

Recently had dinner on a Wed. night. Not very busy but don't know why. The view of the pier and the ocean was incredible (especially during sunset). The food was well done with generous portions. My wife had the steak which was great. I had the tasting menu with the wine pairing and enjoyed all my courses. Very good value for the quality of the food. I would definitely recommend the restuarant (great date place). Pros: view, food, service more

Beautiful little place 4/9/2006

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful romantic dinner. The menu was limited but the dishes were extravagant. They fused many different tastes together. I recommend the samon baked in the pastry shell. The sevice was there when you needed them, but gave you the privacy for a romantic dinner. The view was beautiful. My only complaint was the menu is a bit pricey but wroth the slurge. Pros: different menu, ocean view, small, romantic Cons: pricely more
