Will ruin your trip 6/11/2014

Summary: Outset. Avoid them at all costs. They are spiders. They shouldn't be in this business at all. They will ruin your trip. So stay away and there are nicer bike rentals in Moab than these guys.\r Now the actual story: We (me and my wife) booked two high end road bikes for rental ~1.5 months ago before our actual trip to Moab. We stayed in Moab for 5 days and had a great time hiking and enjoying Moab. Our third day was supposed to be the most exciting day, since we planned to bike that day. We both were very thrilled. Went to the shop. First turn down was I had booked a 2014 Pinnarello for myself and this is the main reason, we booked with Poison rather than going to Chilli Pepper whose rental is $10 is cheaper. But when I went to the store, without even any apology, almost like a demand, they said they don't have the 2014 Pinnarello of my size since someone crashed a week ago. To me this is dishonest and they should have called me and told me about it. In that case, I would have c more

Excellent Service- A++ Store 9/4/2010

Went into Poison Spider to rent bikes and get some gear. This place is the BEST bike shop I have ever been into. They were super cool about getting me a bike and pointing me in the right direction to go riding. Gave me a free map with trail info and recommended where to eat. Ecletica Cafe gets a big thumbs up for a quick breakfast.\r Went into other shops there and did not even get a simple Hello. This is the shop to visit in Moab- don't believe the bad reviews because they were helpful with everyone in the store when I was there. Will come back and spread the good word about this place. more

Outstanding Service 7/27/2010

I just returned from my trip in Moab, Utah and Poison Spider Bicycles made it stand out. I rented a bike for 4 days and had a great time. The staff dialed me out with places to ride and even recommended places to eat every day. I checked out all of the shops in Moab- they have some of the best bikes shops I have ever been to but Poison Spider stood out the most with there excellent service and selection of products.I am a bit surprised to read bad reviews about the rental procedure because it is made super clear that if you break it you buy it. They even had big posters showing you what type of damage is not allowed. The bike I rented was a Yeti 575 which was in GREAT shape. I will definitely be back to Poison Spider on my next trip. Thanks to TJ and Gina for all of your help more

OK with me 8/15/2009

I am a veteran XC rider from the east coast. My experience with PSB was quite good. The bikes, rocky mountain element 30, that we rented were not necessity in mint condition but good working order. the wheels were true, drive train shifted well but some rub on rear brake---i fixed that in a jiffy. Free of charge, they supplied me with spd-pedals and my friend with a helmet and a new water bottle. Staff gave us advice on trails and were generally pleasant. Although i haven't tried the other shops in Moab, i would return to PSB. more

Ouch - tried to sell me damage fees. 7/15/2009

Nice staff and equipment on the front end. The negative sales pitch came upon returning. While biking I did a 1/2 foot hop at ~ 10mph onto a higher area. I got a flat in my rear tire. While changing the tire I noticed there were small sharp ~ hairs. I don't know that they were prickly pear cactus "hairs", but they were something like that. They were the source of the leak, having caused a small puncture and slow leak after my small hop. After returning to Poison Spider I shared what had happened They put the bike on the stand and then purported to show that the rim was bent; allegedly related to my flat. I told them it was a small hop and that the flat was due to the ~ hairs; I told them I was not interested in a shake-down. Even this was not enough. It was only when I went to dig the disposed tube out of the dumpster, to prove my claim, did they agree not to charge me. If you face a shake-down scenario contact the AG &/or BBB office in Utah. I got poisoned by the spider!! 4/12/2009

Friendly staff and good bikes, except that my back brakes made an annoying squeal every time I used them. Beware!!!! I was charged $40 for minor scratches on two of the bikes that I rented. I won't be poisoned by this spider again! more

read the fine print 7/10/2008

while Poison Spider has nice bikes and good staff be very careful in your rental agreement as they choose to gouge me on damage fees due to scratches. I suspect they try to earn damage fees on all their bikes so be careful if you get a nice, new, clean one! more
