Do not go to Pier49! 11/30/2011

Like the rest of the stores this one has gone down hill as well. No idea who the owner is now as they keep changing and with it the experience, food quality, etc. Most of the stores have gone out of business. The food is very expensive for poor to mediocre quality. I ordered a jumbo Little Italy pizza and it was terrible. The dough tasted like it was a week old...you could tell it wasn't fresh. The pizza was undercooked with water in the center that probably came from the vegetables. I've tried other items on different occasions and even at different locations in addition to this one. Bottom line is Pier49 is overpriced and gross food! Don't waste your money! more

Great service very good experience 10/8/2010

We had not been to Pier 49 in years. When we heard about a gluten free pizza, we decided to try it out. \r \r The staff was very friendly and knowlegable. Apparantly they run out of the gluten free crusts so they recommended calling in before coming out and they would keep one aside.\r \r I ordered the supreme and my husband ordered a regular pie. They forgot to add one of the toppings on my pizza and before I could ask them for my pineapple, they were already on thier way to our table with a entire plates worth. \r \r Overall, a great experience and good time. I am so grateful for a gluten free pizza. According to my husband, their sourdough is pretty tasty as well :) more

GLUTEN FREE! 3/18/2009

I haven't had pizza in so long I was so excited to hear that the Pier 49 in Draper had gluten free shells. My husband ordered the tourist and he really enjoyed it. I got my own gluten free with all my favorite toppings. The BONUS was that the wings we ordered were NOT BREADED so I could have the wings too!! The wings were the biggest size chicken wings I have ever seen. Not those skinny little yard bird wings we have all gotten used to. I ate like a pig and took the rest home. When I get a craving for pizza and wings I know where we are going! So far, the Draper location is the only one that has the gluten free of all of the pizza places in the SLC area. Pros: Finally a pizza palce that serves gluten free pizza Cons: I have to drive ALL the way from South Jordan!! more

Used to be Great, 1/10/2008

I have been coming to Pier 49 pizza in draper whenever I'm in town for the past 7 years it's one of the highlights of my trip. The old owner Tony, and the one before him Rick were so nice to me and my wife and would usually through in some free cheesebread (which used to be delicious). When we went this time (Jan. 22, 2007) I had the worst experience there I have had in all of my many years of life. The Bread had hardly any cheese, The Fisherman's pizza had fake crab and the shrip tasted frozen, not to mention the moldy sun-dried tomatoes. My wife had the Touriste and it had molding cheese on it. We decided to try the wings, which were burnt on the outside and frozen on the inside, they also were oozing and looked old. On top of that the service was dreadful they were in such a hurry that no-one asked how our meal was, which was a good thing cause if they did I would have told them it was absoltley disastourous. It took nearly an hour to get the pizza. The young cashier was a pleasant girl, however she was so overwhelmed she looked on the verge of tears, mean while the Pizza Runners kept running in and out why she looked hopeless. No one was there to bus the tables they sat there for 10 minutes. The plates were dirty and had stains on them, the rags for cleaning looked filthy and smelled like bleach. It was smoky, loud, and crowded. Our fiends we brought with us acted polite, however we were completley emarassed that such pricy pizza tasted so awful and the service was so dredful. Cons: Food, service, ambience, cleanliness more

HORRIBLE now that it's under NEW ownership!!! Be careful... 8/15/2007

Wow! New ownership has RUINED this place. I USED to order pizza's 2-3 times a month from the Draper store. Pizza was great & the owner was always nice when I called. Then I got two wrong orders delivered back to back. When I called about it the guy said I was the last order of the night, so he'd put away some of the toppings & didn't want to get out more. My pesto, chicken, mushroom & tomato pizza turned out to be just chicken with alfredo sauce! So, I didn't order from them for about 6 months. I decided to give it another try the other day. When I place my order the guy said the computer showed that I had a FREE pizza coming because of the previous mistakes! I hadn't expected it, but thought it was really nice. They said my order would arrive in about 45 minutes. I decided to take a quick shower (sorry for too much info) while I waited. About 20 minutes later the phone rang. It was Pier 49. He said the guy who took my order was new, and that they don't deliver FREE pizzas. He told me I could come and get it, or order $15 more of food if I wanted it delivered. I explained that I was ordering it for 2 adults and a toddler and didn't need more food. Then, I also explained that my husband was stuck in traffic and I'd just gotten out of the shower to answer the call. There was no way I could get ready at that point. I asked to speak to the owner, and he said ""I'm the new owner"". So, I said since he's the owner he should be able to make an exception. It wasn't my fault that the guy on the phone gave me the wrong info. He said he would NOT make an exception. Then, I threatened to take my business elsewhere. He told me he didn't care if he lost me as a customer & that he didn't have time to argue with me! Then he hung up!!! So, about 25 minutes after placing my order I had to go to ""plan B"" with a husband stuck in traffic, wet hair, and a hungry 3 yr old. Not too mention being insulted! So, BEWARE because this place doesn't care at all! Pros: Food USED to be great. Cons: Wrong orders, NEW ownership & rude customer service... BEWARE!!! more

  • Serving the best pizza available didn't just happen overnight. In 1991, the original Pier 49 Pizza restaurant opened with the goal to create the best pizza around. Through months of trial and error, a special sourdough crust, which is the foundation of Pier 49 Pizza's gourmet pizza, was developed. Months of painstaking experiments followed to find just the right blend of sauces, spices, cheeses and toppings.

    Only the finest mozzarella cheese is used. It is more expensive, but much better tasting. Different types of pepperoni were meticulously cooked off to determine the precise balance between taste, texture and appearance. Using this process with various sausages and other toppings resulted in a combination of toppings that compliments our special dough.

    In order to achieve the best pizza, the right sauces had to be developed to compliment the already unique crust, gourmet cheeses and toppings. This was no easy task, but after hundreds of pizzas, the perfect sauces were found! Each pizza made at Pier 49 Pizza is now offered with a choice of our own:

    * Zesty Tomato
    * Alfredo
    * Pesto
    * Spinach
    * Barbecue
    * Cajun
    * Garlic
    * Southwest Sauce

    We continue to experiment with toppings, to ensure that our product is always improving and always meeting the high standards our customers have come to expect from us. Each new product we introduce to our menu must pass a very strict testing period before it can carry the Pier 49 Pizza name. In our quest to provide our customers with perfect pizzas every time, we will continue to raise the bar for our competitors and for ourselves, constantly striving to provide only the finest gourmet pizzas and side items.

    Come in today and try our unique combination of special sourdough crust, gourmet sauces, and the best fresh toppings available, and find out how we've helped so many ex-pizza lovers...
