Awesome Pizza! 1/12/2011

My wife has been talking about this place forever. It is down the road from her work and they eat there often. I have been thinking ""what's the big deal"". She brought a pizza home tonight for dinner. Now I know what pizza is supposed to taste like. Amazing! Now I just have to try the rest of the menu. Thanks Angelo's, there goes my diet more

Can't Pick a Favorite! 1/12/2011

Someone bought my lunch from here a couple of years ago and I'm still trying to find my favorite thing out of all they have to offer. But everything is sooo good I can't pick just one. Obviously their pizza but their chicken alfredo to eggplant parmesan sub to calzones.... come on it shouldn't be this hard! The hardest thing about eating here is what to eat cause it's ALL GREAT! I work down the street and they deliver to me weekly. I don't have to ask anymore if others want to order too I just say ""Angelos"" and the orders start coming in! Great Place! You can't go wrong here!! more

Best Pizza in town 1/10/2010

They have stayed true to what made them a great Italian restaurant in the first place; homemade meatballs, freshly shredded cheese, freshly prepared dough, hand-prepared toppings, and excellent traditional Italian dishes you would have never thought could come from a pizza place. A++ Pros: Too many to list. Cons: I'll let you know... more

Best Pizza in Middle TN 11/30/2009

This is hands down the best pizza in Middle TN. If you want a great pizza, Angelo's is definitely the place to go. Their prices are well worth the quality of food that our friends from the NYC area ave brought to us. Being from upstate NY, I know what good pizza is, and Angelo's definitely brings the taste. Also, their calzones are top notch. Pros: Great Food, Great Price more

Excellent pizza! 7/16/2009

It was my first time to try the place, and I have to say it was one of the best pizzas I have ever had on the east coast. Pros: Everything was good. Cons: Too far from my house. more

Never will I go back 6/7/2009

I used to love going to Picnic Pizza but the last time I went back, it was very dirty in the resturant. I didn't mind it too much since I was getting my food to go. The service was also slow, but here's the kicker...The owner was talking to a friend of his who didn't seem to be an employee and before the guy started to leave, he must have went to the bahroom. When he came back, I saw him making a to-go box. The owner let his friend put his bare hand in the cheese container. I was absolutely morbid!! This was highly unacceptable and I will never go back. I hate it but there is no telling what else has been done. Pros: I did like the pizza Cons: Dirty and unhealthy more

Good Pizza 11/11/2008

First time at this restaurant, It was very good. Will definately eat here again. Would recommend if you've never been here before. Pros: Nice atmosphere more

great place to eat 10/26/2008

I think angelo's picnic pizza is a great place to go with the family. They make the pizzas fresh and they have really good service. Since I have been eating there the family that owns the restaurant have gotten to know our family. We love their food and the people our great. You're crazy if you think otherwise. Pros: everything you would want in an italian restaraunt more

Italian Food As Good As It Gets 9/14/2008

I think being from NYC and of Sicilian heritage, entitles me to make an intelligent commentary on this restaurant: It is simply great. The hand kneaded dough is first rate which affects all the pizzas and sandwiches. The pastas are always cooked correctly; the veal is prime quality; and everything else on the menu is authentically Italian. Having said that, I always feel welcomed and they make every attempt to provide the best service, even when their excellent buffet is being served which is daily. Overall I have to give Angelo and Nick an A+ for effort and food quality. I have to also mention that their pricing is definitely as good as it gets in Nashville. Pros: All Menu Items are Authentically Italian both in visual preparation and taste. Cons: None more

Misrepresentation on Price 8/20/2008

I am from Chicago and have lived in Nashville for 8 months; so far the best pizza is Chicago Style on Nolensville Pike and DaVinci's on Hayes (near West End). I heard that Angelo's won the best of Nashville citysearch award so I went there, but first previewed their menu online. The pizza sauce tasted good and the cheese was not greasy but the crust was very blah, kind of tough and the price was $3.00 - $5.00 higher than what is on their internet menu! The lady casually said ""oh, uh, yeah, I guess he forgot to change that!"" I asked to speak to a manager as with that big of a difference I think it is a ploy and he hasn't changed it since at least TWO increases ago! I said I will take a printed menu for the future but would expect them to honor their internet price as that is in writing and they should keep up with it. They refused. I don't like doing business with bait and switch tactics so I will not be back. Pros: Pizza sauce tasted good and cheese was not greasy Cons: Bait and switch tactics on what their internet menu price is and what they charge you when you arrive. Uncaring staff refuses to rectify mistakes. more

Great food, Great Portions, Friendly Staff. 7/16/2008

I found Angelo's using the Urban spoon app on my iPhone and I wasn't disappointed. I had the spaghetti with meat sauce, and my friend had an Italian sub. Both were delicious, and large enough to please any appetite. We are going to go back and try the pizza. Pros: Price, Portion, Service Cons: Looks a little run down, but it doesn't seem to matter. more

My Last Visit To Angelo's 7/12/2008

I've been a faithful customer of Angelo's for the last 10 years. I'm sad to say that tonight's visit was my last. Ever since Angelo retired the food is not the same. There is a whole new kitchen crew and the quality of the food has gone downhill. The last 4 times I've been there, it's been getting worse and worse. My salad tonight was wilted and tasted like it had been soaking in oil all day. I told the waitress of my displeasure with the salad, and she didn't even offer to take it off of the bill. I informed Angelo's wife when I paying the bill and she didn't even offer to take it off of the bill.\r \r My pizza tonight was terrible too. There were too many veggies on it and it was watery, therfore the crust was soggy. I ordered feta cheese on it and it was not even melted!! \r \r I've given them the benefit of the doubt over my last four visits, hoping they were just having a bad night. Apparently it is not getting any better. \r \r Goodbye Angelo!! It's as if I've lost an old friend!!! Cons: Food Quality Has Decreased more

great pizza good customer service 6/30/2008

We have been going for pizza here for many years. Their pizza is always delicious and fresh tasting. The service is always wonderful - they make us feel as if we are family. Highly recommend this small, clean, happy sicilian pizza parlor. more

GREAT VALUE.... GOOD FOOD! (Need better service) 5/7/2008

This is to everyone who read Nashvillian660's post. I have eaten pizza all over the US especially New York and Chicago. I go to Sal's on Stewart's Ferry Pike, which is good with a nice decor. But, Geez!\r Your post sounds like a vendetta. In fact, the food at Angelo's is quite good, especially the Eggplant Parm.\r The lunch buffet offers a nice selection at a great price. However, the service staff needs improvement in being courteous, though I am mainly only talk about female cashiers and not the pizza makers, who are VERY friendly. GREAT VALUE....GOOD FOOD. (PS. Sal's is good too...as well as the pizza joint in the arcade downtown....voted BEST in '08). Pros: GREAT VALUE....GOOD FOOD! Cons: Need Better Service....some cashiers seem quite rude. more

nasty place to eat!!!! Not acceptable food anymore since SAL and Sammy left you Angelo! (Brown) 4/14/2008

Attention people!!! \r do you all know who opened the PICNIC PIZZA ???? Picnic pizza was opened BY Sal , who now owens the SAL'S PIZZA AND REstaurant on stewarts FErry. I remember those days when Sammy was working over at Picnic pizza, i used to eat his pizza almost everyday. Unfortunately, since Sammy left that place , somebody with the name Angelo took over picnic pizza.I think this dude does not know how to make pizza. All they do just fight, argue, and talk.. I do not eat over there anymore. Everything looks so dirty , disorganized, and unhealthy. I would not recommend to go to that place and eat. it is not worth it. \r They talk bad about every other pizzerias, why do not you guys clean up your mess..... \r I think Angelo spends a lot of time on this city search writing about his own pizza shop.hahahahahahahahaahahaha. Angelo let other people talk about your place hahahahahaha, I can not stand your foood... sorry. Pros: good name Cons: bad reputaion more

Pleasant service, disappointing food 4/12/2008

After reading numerous recommendations, my wife and I ventured this evening to Angelo's for some alone time from our 4 girls. Overall, we thought the staff was 4 stars and the food, 2. We also thought the overall value, pricewise, was good.\r \r The White Pizza and Pepperoni calzone were underseasoned (mostly the crusts) and we had ricotta overload by the time we were done. Their ""garlic"" bread appeared to be just pizza dough strips without any seasoning whatsoever. It was served with a tomato sauce for dipping, but again, the sauce seemed to have been poured out of a Hunt's can. Just a little basil, anyone? Please? The pizza crust was a bit floppy in addition to tasting very plain. OK, I think you get the message.\r \r The service, however, was much better. We felt very welcomed. Their timing did break down a little after we requested our check as their 2 servers seemed to get in the weeds with the few tables that were present on a somewhat quiet Saturday night.\r \r My wife and I pondered returning to try some different pizza flavors to give them another shot, but in the end decided that the crust, sauce, and ricotta dissatisfiers would probably remain a constant. Although we tend to favor indy spots, our next pizza venture will bring us to the NYPD Pizza place in Mount Juliet, in the Providence mall area. Pros: Hospitable staff made the lacking food palatable Cons: The food needed much more seasoning out of the kitchen. more
