We had taken our 3 month old baby here for a cold, after the doctor spent all of 2 minutes in the room he gave us a referral to have chest xrays done. Being new parents and being told the whole time during pregnancy that xrays are not good for a baby we decided to get a second opinion, which the other doctor said the same thing so we went and had them done. Two weeks later we received a letter in the mail from the doctor here stating that a patient/doctor relationship requires trust and that he would no longer see our child because we had went and got a second opinion. more

Don't bring your children here!!! My 5 yr old son was seen by Dr. O'brien for stitches and it was the worst experience I have ever had. I went home traumatized. He was completely unprofessional, & rude to his own staff (which made me very nervous). Then, he was incredibly rude and demeaning to me when I requested that he give me a note on how to care for my sons stitches (this dr office does NOT properly equip parents). He was verbally telling me what to do and I couldn't hear or retain anything b/c my son was still very upset and crying from the experience of getting stitches. This led to me practically having to beg, then walking out of the office, and then he demanded that I get back in or else I wouldn't get my note. The whole situation was so creepy. I was sooooo traumatized and couldn't comfort my son b/c this guy was such a jerk. Dr. O'brien should be ashamed of himself and shouldn't be working in pediatric care. more

I have the unfortunate situation where my 18 mo old child received the WRONG vaccination. They were given meningitis instead of MMR. Needless to say both my husband and just about everyone I've run into has been completely shocked. Added to this stress was a visit today where my child has a rash all over their body. This comes two weeks after a follow up appt to receive the right immunization. The dr zeroed in on the MMR as the cause and sent me away telling me there was nothing they could do and it could last a week or two. ( I wish there was something i could do speech)The dr also insulted me during the visit by calling me hostle. When I explained my situation with the meningitis the response was, well that wasn't my fault. When I challenged her on her information she blatantly told me that I wasn't the medical professional. \r I would think that after putting our family through this whole debacle that they would have at least acknowledged my frustrations, not treat me the way the more

Pediatric Care of York is one of the best Doctor's offices that I have found for my children. The staff are very nice and helpful, along with the doctors. My four sons have been going to Pediatric Care of York since they were toddlers. I have always had nothing, but the best of care for my children. Dr. Strausbaug takes very good care of my children and always ask lots of questions during our visit to ensure that proper care is given to my children. I have been to other medical practices and NEVER received the kind of care great care that I receive for my children at Pediatric Care of York. Extremely unprofessional and downright RUDE individuals in the billing office, specifically Candy. They also implented a practice now that if your insurance has not paid a claim by the end of the month, they charge YOU a 10.00 fee for it and will continue to do so until your insurance has paid it. As far as I know, you do not recieve that money back once your insurance has paid. They also sent me a letter threatening to remove me from the practice because one of my children missed an appointment, but in reality they actually didn't cancel the appointment when I called and canceled it. more

Doctors have been adequate, but again the front office staff is really poor- I too am in the medical profession and there is no excuse for allowing such substandard front office people to continue working there. more

The waiting rooms and offices are very clean. I like that there is a separate waiting room for the sick children. The office hours are also very nice, and they are always open for emergencies. However I have had such bad experiences with their doctors that it highly outweighs the good. The nurses at the front office seem to be rude (as others have mentioned), carrying on their own conversations as they are tending to you, giving attitudes, etc. Most of the doctors are not thorough at all. They do not ask questions to the children (talk only to the parents), and do not check to see if children can do the things they are asking. At my daughters 3 year check up, Dr. O'Brien did not even have my daughter get undressed. Most of the doctors seem to rush to get you in and out as quickly as possible. I switched to PCY from my family doctor at the recommendation of a long time friend. What a disappointment! My daughter had a cold and was wheezing terribly. My husband called to schedule an appointment for her at 8:30 am and was told she could not be seen until 9:30 pm. I called my family doctor and asked to switch her back and they told me to bring her in immediately and when I asked if I needed an appointment they said no to rush her in if she was having breathing difficulties...yet PCY was ok with seeing her 13 hours later. We also had another incident when my daughter fell down some steps. She was exhibiting classic signs of a head injury. We called PCY right away and were told a doctor or nurse would call us back but that they would probably want to see her. We waited 30 minutes and rushed our daughter to the ER. PCY called us back 4.5 hours later after we were home from the ER with the results of a CAT scan. Needless to say, we are back at my family doctor now. more

I've been pleased with most of the doctors, but the support staff is very unprofessional. As a RN myself, I am shocked at how cold the nurses are. I have very well behaved, polite children and the nurses do not even speak to them except to bark orders at them. One of the receptionist at the desk is always loudly complaining about everything. I wish there were more options in the area. more

I have been very happy with all of the pediatricians/nurses and receptionists at the Shrewsbury office!! I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great, warm, caring staff to take their child(ren) to.We have moved out of state, and I reluctantly have had to take our child to another pediatric practice that is closer to our home. For a while, I was making the hour drive to Shrewsbury because I felt so comfortable with all of the doctors/nurses as well as the receptionists who were so friendly and helpful. To everyone there at the office, keep up the great work! Thankyou for all you've done to make my experience a positive one!!! A job well done!!!! more

My daughter has been a patient for 8 years. Every doctor we have seen at this office has been great. They always answer all of my questions and their examination is always thorough. The office stays open until the last patient leaves which is usually long after office hours. more

My children have been patients at PCY for the past 12 years. We are very satisfied with their service. The doctors are all top notch and the support staff are great. They are always so good about getting my kids into appointments, even as late as 11 pm at night. I have always referred my friends to these pediatricians because I really believe in them! I trust in there abilities as doctors and nurses. When I'm anxious about illnesses, they are always very calming. They do a super job!! more

I would like to express what a pleasure it is to take my children to Pediatric Care of York. I frequent the Shrewsbury office (sometimes too much with 3 kids) and It just seems to be getting better with each visit. There are staff members who have been there since I joined the practice some years ago and a couple new faces who seem to mesh well together.The atmosphere is filled with friendly, helpful and joyful employees. They always have a smile on their faces and truly seem to enjoy their jobs. They are very personable and interact wonderfully with the children. When you call in to the office you are greeted with energetic voices who seem willing to help with anything you need. I highly recommend this practice to anyone who is looking for a new pediatrician. more

I just got off the phone with Dr. O'Brian, and I don't recall the last time I've been spoken to so rudely. I was told my daughter should have gone to school today, even though he hadn't seen her. After talking to me like I was a complete idiot he hung up on me. I will NEVER allow Dr. O'Brian to treat either of my children after his treatment to me on the phone. more
