Pear Tree The

I've been coming to The Pear Tree for 20 years now. The location has changed, as have the owners, but the classic recipes have stayed the same and for that, I'm grateful. They are now located conveniently in central Pearland with hours six days a week. Their food is fresh, prepared daily in-house. They offer homemade desserts, most of which are breathtaking. I highly recommend their spiced tea and pumpkin bread. The tea comes in a little teapot (free refills) and everyone in your party will get a little cup and saucer to drink it out of. The pumpkin bread is sandwiched with cream cheese. Both are delicious, especially when one partakes of the two at the same time. The sandwich plate is VERY filling. You get your choice of 3 assorted sandwich wedges as well as a bowl of fresh fruit salad and a bowl of soup. They now also offer casseroles, salads, and hot plates which are yummy. The servings are huge and I usually end up taking some home with me. Lunch is very busy. The dining room is usually full at this time of day, but you can call ahead and take your food to-go. Service is always very friendly, but sometimes they are not able to handle the crowds so prepare to wait during the lunch rush. Best of all, if you find something is to die for, you can ask for the recipe and make it at home. I highly recommend this restaurant. more

This tearoom, located off of 518, is one of my favorites. You are given a tiny cup of orange spice tea when you come in, which is always a nice touch. The color and feel of the place is inviting and fun. Their sampler plate (sandwhiches, fruit, and soup) is great and comes in two sizes. The large offers a bigger bowl of both fruit and soup. The soups are wonderful! I had an egg salad sandwhich which was kind of plain, but the pumpkin with cream cheese made up for it. I have heard the deserts are to die for, but I haven't had room for one yet. Next time, I'll go just for dessert and review that! =) more
