Best

I went here for a private party so I don't know what the normal atmosphere is like. I loved the layout - the rooms are segmented so there's ...

Worst

Oh where to begin. First off, the food was amazing. Really a great chef in the kitchen and the food although small is worth the price. Our waiter on the other hand, not so good. ...

sophisticated lounge 9/10/2007

i went with my boyfriend this weekend and we really liked it. It is a very sophisticated place with great drinks and really good music. we went there and were just going to have drinks but we decided to stay there and order dinner in the lounge bexcause we enjoyed the scene so much. we had the chicken rockefeller which was amazing and the mushroom pizetta which was also delicious. It started to get really packed at 11:30 so we left but I would definately go back again. Its a great place to start off the night, or end it. more

Great Atmosphere! 9/6/2007

I visited One Sunset for my birthday (with 3 other girls) and had a great time. Before I was even seated I noticed the ambiance. The great thing about the menu is that everyone just orders for the table, so you can mix things up which is good because there were so many things I wanted to try. The managment stopped by to introduce themselves and check in on us. We ordered a lot of the comfort food items which were excellent. The only negative is that the martinis are kinda pricy, but I guess that's what you should expect from a trendy establishment on Sunset Blvd. This place would be great for a date or a girls night out. Pros: ambiance Cons: expensive martinis more

Best mixed drinks in LA - see and be seen. 9/6/2007

Awsome ambience! Awesome music! Definately a place to see and be seen. The place is pretty small, and the tables a bit packed in - but that actually makes it cozy. The place is full of beautiful people - so dress nicely! Went on a Saturday night @ 8:30pm with a reservation. We were seated immediately! The waitress was great, but seemed overloaded with tables. We only went for drinks. I had a raspberry mojito which was phenominal...hands down best drinks in town here. Most drinks are about $13/ea. We didnt eat anything - but honestly, the food didnt look too appetizing. The menu is a "hodge-podge" of asian fusion and american food (they actually had mac and cheese on the menu, which looked really gross). Maybe the food was good though - people around me were chowing down. I recommend IL Sole across the street for food...One Sunset for drinks and mingling. The couches were pretty low, but comfy. My only gripe were the bathrooms. They were pretty dirty, and I really didnt want to tip the bathroom attendant for handing me a paper towel (they weren't nice hand towlettes or anything...paper towels!). No celebs that night...only trendy LA types and tourists. Had fun though - great place for a girl (or guy's) night out. Pros: Ambience, music, drinks Cons: Trendy LA wannabees, tight tables, yucky looking mac and cheese more

NOT ANYTHING GREAT 8/29/2007

The only reason i went to this place is because it was one of the only restaurants in LA that I havent been to. Its semi-new and heard cool things about it from magazines. My bf and i got sat right away, but in a horrible spot, they had to move other patrons in order for me to be seated. My bf ordered a redbull vodka and it came in a tumbler with most of it consisting of ice. $15 for ice and redbull? The menu is California tapas style and the food was nothing special, really salty, and VERY tiny portions. Only come if you are with a group and wanna get drunk and not worry about the food too much. Pros: Great scene, beautiful decor Cons: food portions and taste more

Awful food 8/27/2007

motec97 Provided by Partner
Skip the food, go there for drinks. I NEVER send back dishes at restaurants but the fish we ordered was inedible. All the other dishes were either unmemorable or barely tolerable. There are so many other great places - don't waste your money on this place unless it's for the fun drinks, like the naughty schoolgirl martini. more

NOT A NICE PLACE 8/19/2007

I am stickler for service and this place gets a zero in my book along the lines of excellent customer service. We had reservations and when we walked in we were asked to wait, by the way, the resaurant was half empty at the time. Therefore, we waited and waited and finally we asked the hostess when we saw people who had arrived after us being seated she replied " we were getting your table ready" we were like you have to be kidding there were about 20 empty tables. Second, we order several entrees which were the size of a small golf ball, and severly overpriced, and taste like a stoffers TV dinner. The crowd was a weird mixture of some industry types, hollywood wanna bees and out-of-towners. Our server was friendly and attentive, however, the managers and hostess were rude and ignored us as they walked around and greeted those they thought would write reviews in local magazines ( put two and two together). This place looks romantic on the inside but there are so many other places in LA to go where the food is good and its enough to feed an average adult without having to order like 5 entrees which they encourage so your bill can come up to 200 alone on food. Additionally, the music is very loud and they kept adjusting it...not sure what volume they wanted to keep it at and overall the staff especially the managers and owners need to take some lessons in hospitality. If you live in the neighborhood and cant find anyplace else to go for a drink ( which is very unusual considering your on sunset) then by all mean go to One and waste your money on overpriced food and drinks to say you have been in the restaurant of the moment. In closing this place will not survive on its miniture and tasteless portions of food, rude staff, and over priced drinks. Dont say I didnt warn you!!!! more

An Unforgettable Experience 8/12/2007

This was the best dining experience I have ever had. The service is impeccable. From making the reservation to our amazing server Alexis, this night was perfect. I took my boyfriend to dinner and wanted to do something special. He is allergic to dairy products and the chef accomodated all of the dishes to make sure they were dairy free. We did go early on a Friday night so we didnt have to worry about horrible crowds. The atmosphere is a cross between comtemporary and classy oldschool and the staff was definitely on top of everything. Just imagine contemporary natural design with frank singing in the backround....perfect. We ordered the Jumbo shrimp cocktail, the pink grapefruit carpaccio, the grilled local line caught bass, the tamarind glazed sonoma quail, the ahi carpaccio, and one other dish that was a combination of watermelon and tomoatoes (delicious). The only dish i we did not particularly like was the pink grapefruit carpaccio, but everything else was amazing. My boyfriends doubted my choice but after he started eating the food he apologized profusely. The must haves are the grilled local line bass, which was delictable, and the tamarind glazed sonoma quail was to die for. Oh and not to forget the perfect dessert, bing cherry strudel. We will be back and will definitely ask for Alexis if she is working. I can not believe that there is one valid bad review for this place. Pros: service, entrees, dessert, drinks, atmosphere......the whole nine yards Cons: a little pricey (not your everyday spot) more

Bad sound system, okay food! 8/11/2007

raoul739 Provided by Partner
The decor is nice, the food is okay, the ambiance is lovely, however, the sound system is horrible. The music selection is good but the loud and piercing noise coming out the speakers is terrible. It was very hard to carry a conversation with my friends. Pros: Good crowd, parking service Cons: loud music, service, food more

Great space, smallest entree portions of any place in LA I have eaten 7/29/2007

Beautiful space with fun music and energetic crowd...for drinks. We had to wait about 20 minutes after arriving before seated. Drinks were comparable in quality and price to other "hot" restaurants. Appetizers were delicious (had Hamachi, Lobster Quesadillas and Beets/goat cheese). HOWEVER, two large complaints that will keep us from going back - (1) waiter was very, very slow and non-attentive and (2) the dinner portions (fresh salmon) were unbelievably, offensively small. There were literally 4 small bites of salmon - although delicious, I could not believe how small the portions were relative to price. Would not go back for dinner. more

Great scene - okay food - too loud to eat 7/24/2007

mskari Provided by Partner
Let me start by saying it's BEAUTIFUL... gorgeous restaurant...and nice bar. But let me warn you - do NOT try to have a nice dinner here. First of all - american shared plates....is a nice way to say reheated frozen food that is overprices and undercooked. I like the and would go again but only for drinks. Try their specialty drinks - yummy! the DJ plays good music but there is not dance floor and the tables are not conducive to a good meal, a good conversation or even a comfortable sitting...... Also - it's WAY too loud in here to be able to allow you to enjoy your night.... Pros: Good scene, nice crowd, upscale Cons: Horrible food, too loud, too much going on.... more

Amazing Dinner! 7/24/2007

My wife and I had a terrific dinner at One. We started with some drinks. I had a Medicinal Concoction, while my wife went with a Naughty Schoolgirl. Both of the drinks were excellent. They then started us off with some cheesy puff bread and apple butter which was very good. We shared five entrees: Bacon Wrapped Shrimp, Lobster and Goat Cheese Quesadilla, Pork Filled Sloppy Joes, Mac and Cheese and Mini Grilled Cheese Sandwiches. The bacon wrapped shrimp was the best "Thing I've Never Tasted Before" I've had in a long time. My wife and I both marveled at the complexity of the flavors and how nicely the complemented each other. My other favorite was the grilled cheese sandwiches which came with a nice tomato basil bisque for dipping. Each sandwich comes on a different bread with different cheese. Delicious!!! The service was great, very attentive without being disruptive. The only major drawback was that four drinks and five entrees cost us about $200! Yikes. But I guess that's trendy dining on the Sunset Strip. Pros: Great service, Great food, Great ambience Cons: Cha ching!!!, Valet or meter parking only more

Amazing food - great "scene" - incredible decor. 7/23/2007

My husband and I went to One Sunset based on recommendations of their NYC location. Well, I can testify that the food is WELL worth the hype. I'm not much into the Hollywood scene, but suffice to say I recognized several actors during our two hour meal. Do yourself a favor and order the bacon wrapped shrimp and the mac n' cheese. Both are unbeatable. The lobster quesadella was also notable, but perhaps my favorite items were the specialty drinks. Sure, they've got $12-$18 price tags, but after two of them, you really won't care about he cost anyway! (I got the Naughty Schoolgirl, replete with a lollipop and candy encrusted rim. I wish we could afford to eat (and drink) here every night of the week. more

I went to ONE with some girlfriends this past weekend for girl's night out and we had a blast! The concept of a nightclub/lounge serving dinner (they call it New American Shared Plates...I call it dinner) is new to me, but it was actually really good! We had the lobster goat cheese quesadillas and some mini grilled cheese sandwiches, which were both delish. We ate around 10ish and then burned off all those calories by tearing up the dance floor! ONE Sunset is presumably enjoying its current status as a "hollywood hot spot", but this is one spot that I actually believe will be around even once the hype has faded (and that's saying a lot haha). Pros: food, ambience, dancefloor, attractive crowd Cons: in order to be around for the dancing you have to eat quite late more

I was so excited to be going to ONE sunset. its worth all the hype about it. yes we did have to wait a bit for our table, but the owners celeste and erika personally came by to all the tables to apologize and speak with us. i have been to their other establishments and they level of service is jsut as good if not better then the other ones. the badass cheeseburgers rule, and the naughty schoolgril; drink was great. the dj was playing some great music and its the perfect lounge, just what wet hollywood needs. if you are looking for a place to go to with friends and hang out with good food and great service, this is the place for you Pros: great vibe, cool atmosphere, great staff Cons: long wait for line and parking more

Great New Spot..! 7/8/2007

We were seated shortly after arriving. The vibe is loud and fun. The DJ plays some GREAT retro feel good music. The food is tasty small plates style cuisine. The staff is friendly and quick. The cheesburgers are a must and the mac n cheese is simply delicious. The crowd is sophisticated and classy. Don't expect to be surrounded by a bunch of childish kids in their early 20's or with fake ID's. This super Supper Club is a great addition to the sunset strip. Pros: Music, Food, Crowd more

Is this the same ONE Sunset 7/8/2007

I am totally confused by the reviews on this site. Maybe there is more then 1"one sunset" because the one that I go to with all my friends is amazing. The food is incredible and the drinks are delish. Anywhere you go in the area will have a short wait - and ONE is worth it! Pros: Cool people, good food Cons: short wait more

Chris at the door 7/8/2007

The place is great. Totally different mix of people than the usual hollywood spot. The music can be a bit loud and also the ac wasn't working great so it tended to be hot inside. Chris the doorman is amazing and totally took care of our party. Be sure to ask for him. The food is not the main attraction but this place is definintly great for a fun night out. Pros: Doorman, security staff Cons: poor air conditioning more

Great but skip the attitude at the bar 7/6/2007

jnick2 Provided by Partner
I really liked this venue and was really excited to go due to all the great reviews. The place was gorgeous and the food was fab. However the bartenders were very rude when it was not even busy. I understand if the bar is packed but not when there are only a few people there. I was tipping well but they were not even bothered maybe thats how they make there money is to make the customers feel like they have done something wrong. Everyone else was great though. maybe next time I will get a table and order from a waitress to avoid the hollywood attitude at the bar. Pros: the hostess was great and helpful even on a busy night Cons: the bartenders more
