I went here for a private party so I don't know what the normal atmosphere is like. I loved the layout - the rooms are segmented so there's ...

Oh where to begin. First off, the food was amazing. Really a great chef in the kitchen and the food although small is worth the price. Our waiter on the other hand, not so good. ...

My new favorite place! 1/4/2008

I had dinner at One last night and I can't wait to go back! The food was amazing; they had plenty of things for my Vegetarian girlfirend, and for carnivors like me! The drinks were delicious, and the service was impeccable - they recommended the perfect wine and even helped my friend pick out the best vegetarian dishes. After dinner, we just stayed and drank more because the crowd was so cool. Everyone was young and gorgeous and the dj rocked. This is my new favorite place! Pros: Ambiance, food, drinks, service more

Beautiful, romantic venue 1/4/2008

My husband and I just recently celebrated our anniversay and I told him to surprise me with a nice restaurant (he usually leaves this to me). He was recommended One Sunset by a friend, and it was an amazing experience. The place is simply gorgeous, they gave us a secluded booth and even comped our dessert for our special night! It was so romantic. And the food and drinks were wonderfull as well. I definitely reccommend One for special occasions. They certainly know how to treat people. Pros: Beautiful, romantic, terrific service Cons: a teensy bit pricey, but worth it more

Not worth the hype 12/27/2007

Those who wrote great reviews about how wonderful dinner is and how ppl should go to one sunset with big or small parties must have been given a free entree. Oh and when i say free entree i mean a piece of lettuce with a pinch of chicken, oh but they reccomen you share each entree since its tapas style. Give me a break, I have never written a review before but i could not resist with this one. First of the place is very nice and the staff is okay as well. The drinks such as the naughty school girl and wildberry mojito are great and worth the price. HOWEVER, we were there with a group of people, the waitress suggested to order a bunch fo things and share since it is tapas style, which is fine we were all for it. These portions were ridiculously small. Jeez when we ordered a twenty something dollar salad i didn't expect two bites out of it. How many are we supposed to order in order to eat no even get full just to eat a normal dinner. I am willing to pay big bucks for a well worth it dinner and a not huge but decent portion, but this is just pushing it. Anyways i would suggest finding elsewhere for dinner since it is la it should be no problem. Pros: Good drinks, atmosphere Cons: pricey for small portions and okay food more

Last week I went to a private party at ONe Sunset for my company and I was so impressed. I had heard about the restaurant before as friends of mine had been in for dinner, but had never been myself. the space was really cool and beauitiful, nothing like I have seen in LA. The food was excellent and I thought the staff who worked there was friendly and attentitive. All in all, we were all really surprised and stoked about the venue. I will definately return to check it out on a normal night there when they are open to the public. Pros: ambiance, music, food more

Great Place For a Holiday Party, Great Food , Service & Atmosphere 12/20/2007

I have been invited and participated in many parties with my current job, but the Party we had tonight at One Sunset was by far the best. Not only was food absolutely delicious, Our wonderful server Keith came around for a few hours with absolutely tons of food....describing each new dish he brought out and even brought us drinks from the bar that was right behind us so we didn't have to stop our conversations to go and order a drink. The atmosphere is just beautiful and the music was kept at an acceptable level to still have conversation. My entire party of about 30 people had just a delightful time. We will be back!! Pros: Atmosphere, Food , Service Cons: Parking, kind of hard to find more

ONE IS THE ONLY PLACE TO HOST YOUR BIRTHDAY OR LARGE PARTY! 12/3/2007

I had my birthday soiree there with the help of one of the owners, Laurie. She was so helpful. She made menu recommendations and she was RIGHT ON! The best part is we had a shared menu which means the food just kept coming and coming and coming. By the end of the dinner we were full. It's not like other set menus so if you're going out with a group of people, call Laurie - she'll make it happen for you! She also sent my entire group a glass of champagne on her (there were 15 of us). I wasn't able to keep my table for the entire night (it was a busy Saturday) but we moved to the bar area and had a blast. Laurie even offered to give us discounted bottle service which we took her up on and it only got crazier from there! Let's just say that 3 of us met our matches that night :0 ) This was the best birthday i ever had! Good food, great atmospher, amazing owner! Pros: Laurie - the owner, Ambience, Food Cons: You have so much fun you could easily drink too much too fast! more

Great Decor, Delicious Food, Gorgeous Waitress 12/3/2007

I consider myself to be someone who knows all the "hot spots" in LA. I've been in this city for 10 yrs and I've seen it all and done it all. I have to say One Sunset is pretty one of a kind. I went in and it was one of the rare times where I felt I got my money's worth and more in this overpriced city. I went in with a couple of my buddies from work to unwind and have some drinks and dinner and we had a great time. And I will say the food was delicious I had the new york steak, ravioli, bacon shrimp, fall salad, mushroom pizza, scallops, striped bass, burgers, tartare, and more I can't remember everything ( I didn't eat it all myself I was with four other guys and it's tapas so the portions are smaller and you share with everyone), and everything was spot on delicious, impressively so. The decor is beautiful they have an amazing one of a kind piece of art in one area of the restaurant that is stunning, great lighting, little bit awkward seating it's very tight and the tables wobble a bit. And the service was perfect. Our waitress was the girl of my dreams. Her name was Grace and she is stunningly beautiful with a personality to match. She knew absolutely everything about the menu and everything we ate she recommended. We told her we liked meat and seafood and she went to town describing, recommending and ordering, and her smile, oh her smile. To say I love this restaurant become of Grace is an understatement , she recommended a great bottle or two or red to go with our meal and I have to say her knowledge of food was impressive. Plus she was a great sport at all the "advances" me and my buddies made toward her being very gracious. I asked her time and time again to marry me but she insisted she was in love with her boyfriend and continued to break my heart. Regardless I had a great time and can't wait to go back and see my girl. Pros: Grace my beautiful waitress Cons: Not Cheap but worth it more

nice spot on the strip 11/28/2007

this is a nice place for small bites and cocktails. i like the cool decor and the service is good. there's a cozy bar area in front and a more formal (well, not really formal) sit down dining area further back. i think they envisioned the place as being super trendy, but it's not quite working out that way. they do get some industry parties here but it's not a guest list spot, which means it is possible to have pretty good food (chef has worked in some more food-centric restaurants) on the strip. the sliders are good. the mini tacos were pretty good too, tho i don't much care for hard shells. there was a fancier ahi dish, however, that didn't really do much for me. cocktails are your sweet variety, but they can make the standards too. Pros: good sliders, nice service Cons: cocktails too sweet, strip traffic more

The Most Amazing Place ever! 11/25/2007

ONE sunset rocked my night! The decor is beautiful and sensual. the vibe was great, such goodlooking people and the drinks ruled! my fave drink was the naughty schoolgirl, and i was acting just like it by the enbd of the night! the drinks were a bit pricey, but in the end it was worth it. started off for dinner with the surf and turf tacos, that were fantastic. then i had the mac and cheese which was delightful, the portion was a lil smaller than i anticpated. My friend had the erica's badd cheeseburger and it was yummy. so go to ONE SUNSET!!! and bring friends, great place to vibe and dance. djs were so hot! i would recommend this place to anyone to anyone Pros: Awesome place great vibe Cons: small plates wait time more

I love One Sunset! I go there all the time with my girls and we have a blast! The music rocks and the food is awesome (especially the mac and cheese). I'm a bit confused by the other reviews...are we talking about the same One Sunset? Seriously, go check it out for yourselves, you will not be disappointed! Pros: music, food, great drinks Cons: short wait more

Cool Spot to Meet Singles, have Great Drinks & Fun Food 11/25/2007

andrewsimmons Provided by Partner
This is now my new favorite spot! It's on Sunset so you don't have to drive deep into Hollywood. The vibe is very cool - probably the most beautiful restaurant in LA. Food is interesting - small plates but very filling. The drinks are interesting. The owners are all hot women and fun! They are there and always buying you drinks and introducing you to their cute friends. It's very condusive to meeting people. You actually feel like you can talk to others. Their autumn salad (I think that's what it was called) is one of the best I've ever had. if you're having a large group or a birthday, this is the place to book it! Pros: Vibe, Food Cons: Really Aren't Any more

FOR GREAT FOOD, A COOL VIBE & PLACE TO MEET OTHERS GO THERE! 11/25/2007

I read some of the reviews and found out that 9 of the 10 bad ones were a large dinner party together as my friend was one of them! Anyone can have an off night! I had my birthday party there with 6 people. We all fell in love with the place. I consider myself hip to the scene and go out at places like the Green Door. The crowd was good - a combo of 20s, 30s and 40s - not a bunch of young kids. These guests clearly had money to spend and were not trying so hard to be "cool". The food was amazing. Literally everything we had was a rare combination of things that I had not had before. The shriimp wrapped in bacon was delicious! The lamb chops out of this world! They had these mini burgers that I will be going back for this weekend! If you want a cool spot to hang out, have good food, meet some good people this is the place for you! Pros: The Food, People & Ambience Cons: Can be a wait but they have 2 great bar areas to hang out and meet people more

If I was able able to give them zero stars I would 11/23/2007

I had my single worst dining experience at this place. We waited two hours for our table when we had reservations!! When we finally sat down the food was god awful and terribly expensive, and the bus boys spilled our drinks on us. No comp anything. The people that go there are such hollywood wannabes, toolish guys, and all around annoying staff. STAY AWAY. Pros: nothing Cons: everything you can think of and then some more

A truley unique gem on the strip 11/17/2007

liam2 Provided by Partner
I have heard the hype surrounding the newest hot spot to land on the strip. To be honest I wasn't even sure if I would be able to get a reservation due to all the press I have been noticing! There I was on a busy Friday night with three of my friends and our wives. We had an 8:30 reservation, which I know can be a hassle in places like this. We waited about twenty five minutes for our table. While we waited, we enjoyed wild berry mojitos at the bar and soaked in the ambiance. I felt that I was in a place much different from my usual Hollywood stops. The North African design falls in place with the slick leather and candle light decor. Being a regular restaurant goer I am ok with a small wait. After sitting for only a moment, John the server came by and gave us the low down. We were told of the share plate style to their new Amarican cuisine, and he offered to order for us. We went for it and left ourselves in his hands. I especially enjoyed the tomato-watermelon salad, the lobster and goatcheese quesadella, and the short rib sopes. John masterfully put together a great culinary experience for us. We enjoyed sharing each others dishes. The manager came by at the end with complimentary champagne . He said he knew we had to wait for our reservation. I will go back again and again. The food was great, the service was superb. I found the hospitality at One Sunset second to none. My friends, and more importantly my wife, applauded my choice. We had a great meal in a great setting! Pros: Great attentive service Cons: On the weekends be ready for the late night energy more

Great food and awesome interior! 10/10/2007

Great inspiration place for those looking for a fun cool interior decor. the drinks were great and the best thing of the food is that most of the plates are split for "sharing". great way to taste different items without having the giant portions that are usually served elsewere. highly recommended. Pros: great loungy dining experience Cons: not making a reservation on a busy night more

I found the ONE! 10/3/2007

michysmith Provided by Partner
My friends were encouraging me to go to a club for my bachelorette party, and honestly, I am so over the Hollywood club scene! Being the controlling planner and researcher that I am, I found ONE Sunset's add in LA Confidential and have friends who rave about the New York location. I told my girlfriend's that this would be the ONE! They were all a bit skeptical, but when we entered, all they could say was, wow, what a gorgeous restaurant. We had a 9:45 reservation, but we got there early to have a few drinks at the bar. We all indulged in the Naughty Schoolgirl and berry mojitos. We weren't seated until 10:20, but honestly, we were having such a good time at the bar, we lost track of time. Did I mention that there was a DJ too! We were able to sit at one table for 12ppl without a set menu! That's rare for LA. We were seated in the sexiest area of the restaurant right in front of a candle wall, in a private area. We didn't have to worry about being too loud because the music camaflouged our conversations. The food was served in somewhat in a tapas style, so we just kept ordering. I think we had 6 orders of the scallops (they were rediculously delicious) and 4 orders of the lobster and shrimp quesadillas. The food was really good and we all loved how interactive it was set up. It was like ordering gourmet appetizers! We even had "a ONE night stand" (a circular stand with shot classes) brought to our table, compliments of the restaurant. We were all quite impressed, not to mention intoxicated. We were dancing @ our table and then went to the lounge to be closer to the DJ. My girlfriends could not stop talking about how much fun they had. And all I could say was..... I told you so! Pros: Ambience, food Cons: Wait more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! 9/30/2007

crose1313 Provided by Partner
I cannot beieve the hype of this place! We had to wait 45 minutes past our reservation time to even sit down! Each time we went to the hostesses to get an update the answer was "your table will be ready in just a couple more minutes." The music is so loud you cannot even have a conversation. This place is highly overrated and overpriced! the portions are very small too! Don't waste your time or money on this place. Very disappointing and unprofessional service. more

Seriously a great time.... 9/14/2007

So a group of us went out last night.... once again we found ourselves at One Sunset, because frankly it has become our favorite stomping ground as of late. No exaggeration, I have been there 5 times in the past month and I love it more every single time!!! (Clearly!! We had such a blast this time I had to write a review!!) Anyways, last night was a true party night, so we made dinner reservation for 8:30 and after eating our fill of john dory, some amazing osobucco lettuce cups and the heirloom tomato salad (all amazing, and my fav items!!!) it was time to move onto the bar... as always, it gets a little crowded up there so you gotta kinda fight for a table, but once we got ours the party was able to continue well into the night.... we danced, we drank and I hate to admit it, but we ate some more!! Obviously, it was a Friday night to be remembered. The best thing about One- I don't only go on Friday nights!!! I have also gone in the beginning of the week for just a drink and a quick bite at the bar..... great place to kick back after a crazy work day!!! Anyways, enough already.... quit reading this and make a reservation!!!! You will thank me....... :) Pros: great scene, great food, great time! Cons: does get busy!!! gotta enjoy the crowd!! more

I went to ONE this sat night to check out all the hype and I gotta tell you....I loved it. The space itself is gorgeous, completely unrecognizable to the barfly...which it used to be. The place was very upscale and different from most typical LA spots. i have been to the ONE in NY and really enjoyed it. The one in LA is just as great. Good music, great crowd, friendly service. I'm surprised about some of the reviews stating that the portions are small! We has a duck cobb salad, a strip steak and lobster quesadillas which completely filled us up (2 of us). We thought the food was delicious and the staff was super friendly. All in all, great experience and will go back...drinks were tasty too...get the "gin n juice" it was recommended by the bartender and was really good. Pros: ambiance great more
