selection is good, but some attitude 12/1/2010

They have a wonderful variety of yarns and patterns. However, my experience with more than one of the employees has been less than positive. With a number of other yarn shops in the area as competition, I would think that customer service might be a top priority. Yet, employees have been brusque and not overly friendly and seemed to be almost annoyed about answering questions. I was also given some incorrect advice that precipitated a return/exchange. Two other friends who bought things from the shop agree with me about the somewhat chilly attitude. more

Northampton Wools is an excellent little yarn shop. They have a large selection of both common plain yarns as well as funky specialty stuff. They also sell fancy knitting kits that you can't get in many other places. The women there are so nice and are always willing to help you if you're having trouble with the project that you're working on. more

All things related to knitting 8/16/2005

I learned how to knit in college and Northampton Wools is where I would go for my wool and knitting needles. This small store carries finer wools than you will find in Walmart or in a typical arts and crafts store, however, the prices reflect the difference in quality. Northampton Wools also offers classes for beginners to advanced knitters. more

furry, fuzzy, small and buzzy 8/16/2005

Northampton Wools on pleasant street in downtown northampton is a small shop in the middle of everything with a select bunch of shi shi yarns. Some with metallic stripes, some ragged that knit up big, and high quality wools and alpaca etc. No walmart-type acrylic mixes here. The people here really know what they are talking about, so ask questions while in. There always seems to be someone knitting in the back and chatting. If you want to make an extra special small project for a baby shower, wedding, gift or the like, you'll find high quality unique items here. more
