The Nick - Great Place to see a Flick! 11/26/2005

This theatre is wonderful in so many ways! The selection of films is great - lots of independent stuff - the people who work there are cool, and it's nicely located near DT Santa Cruz. My favorite is the smallest theatre - it's like having a private screening. My favorite place to see a movie besides the Del Mar. more

Tiny Treasure 11/1/2005

I love the Nickelodeon Theater; it's a special little place in Santa Cruz, just off from the hustle and bustle of Pacific Street. It always offers an excellent array of indie, and foreign films. Its the perfect little place to take a date; somehow it's more romantic to go see a movie at the Nick then at the big, over-lit Cinema 9. more

Indie Films for Independent Theatre 8/17/2005

The Nickelodeon Theatre has only a few screens at their theatre, but you can bet they are always packed. This theatre is a town favorite because it displays independent films including the recent summer blockbuster Napoleon Dynamite. The prices are a bit cheaper than larger theatres but not by much. So grab some popcorn and soda while you enjoy what might be the next hit movie. more

independent local theatre 8/15/2005

the nick has been a key part of santa cruz culture for many many years. this is where all the great independent films come, and they show four or five movies at a time, fairly large for an independent theatre. they write up excellent reviews of every movie they show that are always available weeks in advance. they also have a great concessions stand and friendly santa cruz local staff people. tickets aren't cheap, but always worth it. more
