Newtown Bicycle is a great example of why independent bike shops beat big-box stores in terms of quality and service. There are bikes of all different makes for kids and adults, and people can rest assured that the staff will not sell an unsafe bike. The owner is an avid biker himself and does much of the maintenance work on the bikes brought in for service. Along with kids' and adults' bikes, the shop sells helmets, bike accessories, and other related items. Prices are high compared with large retailers, but the quality of both the goods and the service is much better. One of the best shops in the area to buy a bike.
