Ski Mt. Rose 11/12/2005

I have been sking at Mt. Rose since I was a little kid. My dad always picked Rose because of their great run called, Around the World, that is long and offers a lot of good practice for beginning skiers. They always have great food in their lodge, and we always liked the little weather center in the lodge growing up, too. They have a wind guage, barometer and thermometer that you can see in there. The prices are good, not great, but good enough for local skiing. And it's so close, too! more

mt. rose is a great place to ski or snowboard if you're in the reno area. Mt. rose has a lot of slopes for beginners and advanced people. The slopes are big, allowing you to enjoy the run longer. The snow there is nice and smooth- not hard. They have ski and snowboard lessons. more

lots of fun 9/8/2005

Mt. Rose is one of my favorite ski resorts in the Reno area. It's got trails for people of all ages and abilities and the lift ticket prices are always reasonable. The resort almost always has great snow, as well, which is something that some of our lower elevation resorts do not have. They also have a great ski school called Rosebuds that I did as a child and cannot wait to put my kids into. more

Average Thrills 8/8/2005

I went here for a 2 day ski trip. It's about 3-4 hrs. driving distance from the South Bay area. Definitely plan to leave early to beat rush hour traffic along the 680 route to Sacramento. Also depending on weather conditions, its advisable to bring chains or cables if you happen to plan on returning right after a storm sweeps through the area. This place is really conveniently located near Reno. We stayed in one of the gambling casinos for a cheap affordable rate and drove 30 minutes to the hill every morning. The hill itself isn't terribly packed like Heavenly so there is plenty of fresh powder left on most of the trails. I would say that overall this is a intermediate mountain. Some of the mogul runs are not well maintained. The view at the top is definitely nice as I think this is one of the highest elevations in the area. I'd say make it worth a day trip but stay in Reno for the night. more

You'll have a great time here! 7/17/2005

Mt. Rose is a great little place to ski! There are over 60 trails at this ski resort, but this place is still cheaper than Heavenly and other ski resorts. This place isn't too crowded, which I like. You can grab a bite to eat or buy a hot chocolate after you ski. I recommend you to not go here during the holidays; try to go on a weekday if you can. more
