From the outside, it looks like another sketchy wine and liquor store but I suppose this is what contributes to its great value. While I only have one bad experience which involved purchasing a six pack of beer which ended up being very stale, there are usually very many wine price specials. Perhaps this might be due to the lack of popularity due to its location and outside appearance, but I would strongly suggest that you brave it if youre in the area and take a glance at their collection. You will definitely find cheaper prices than your local Bevmo.

Located in the heart of downtown Birmingham, this little cottage style shoppe offers a variety of sports equipment from soccer to field hockey to lacrosse. While online retailers might have slightly lower prices, this shoppe provides anyone with last minute necessities. The staff at the store are not your average joes trying to market the most expensive goods. They are pretty knowledgeable since most of them are fellow high school atheletes. I would also consider the varsity shop if you are affiliated with any high school teams as they tend to offer 'special' discounts for high school atheletes.

So I might be embellishing a little bit when I say acres but when you walk in you'll get that feeling. Though you think the abundance of tables will allow you to secure a table on any given weeknight, this isnt really true considering the popularity of this nightspot. This is one of the few main attractions that downtown Rochester has to offer so you can expect all of the young 20 something locals to be there. The venue also boasts many big screen tvs for all the sports enthusiasts. Though it it located in the heart of downtown Rochester, there is ample parking in the rear. The hourly rate might be considered slightly above average when compared to other local hole-in-the-wall billiards halls but this venue gives you the opportunity to do a bit more people watching. Great idea for weeknights and single hangouts.

For many people, the 101 or 280 commute from the city to the south bay or vice versa becomes hellish, especially complemented with the difficulty of finding parking in the city.
The caltrain is a great alternative if you're simply trying to catch dinner in the city or plan on going out to the clubs or bars. The caltrain is the only mass transit system which allows you to drink aboard. People should beware though that the last caltrain to leave the city is midnight so late-night clubbers will have to either find a place to stay over night or find another alternative to come back home to the south bay. There are also several incentive programs for weekday commuters that Caltrain offers in order to support the state's clean air environmental programs. These usually result in free fare for several days of the month.

When you think of your usual hockey dressing room, the words 'rotten eggs', 'dog feces', 'month old baby diapers' usually become associated with the raunchy smell you find in the average hockey locker room. Not at the Yack. The Yack truly has a superb cleaning standard above all else. Other local arenas like Trenton's Kennedy arena and the local Icebox will fit the stereotype well. You can rest assured that your younger children wont come out with some sort of the ringworm at the Yack.
The Yack also has a concession stand inside for those in need of some nourishing after a rigorous skate. Ice conditions have always exceeded par during my trips to Yack. The Yack's popularity for peewee hockey leagues demand a very attentive staff to attend to any rink maintenance issues.

If you're looking for a cheap course to help keep your swing in rhythm then this is the place for you. If you're looking for a nice course to entertain out-of-town guests, then keep moving on.
I think that this course provides average difficulty for the +15 handicap golfer. A large chunk of the difficulty is due to the lack of maintenance on the course (gravel rough, water-logged bunkers, etc.) One time the greens were left completely covered in excessive sand and seeding during their winter prep, making putting un-endurable. Also, the course is situated next to some sort of water treatment/sewage center where plenty of mosquitos breed in the idle waters. Those weary of west-nile should avoid this course. Cheap green fees are the only plus.

I'm from the east coast where we have the national chain of Pirate Cove miniature golf to rely on but it seems that in northern and southern california there is a shortage of golf/go-kart venues. This is one of the few that boasts both go-karts, miniature golf, and batting cages all on one venue. They also have very good party packages for birthday parties or corporate outings. The miniature golf landscape isnt as creative as Pirate's Cove but its one of the more interesting ones around here. The staff is professional and once my go-kart spun out and died on me but the staff was very cordial and offered me another free round with another free pass so I could race against a friend. Definitely worth visiting.

I've been to most public courses in the area and its usually the same story. Yellowish rough, unmaintained greens, divot-stricken fairways, etc. When I came to Shoreline, I really thought I was playing at a private country club. The course was so beautifully maintained. The course itself poses some challenging holes and some well architected doglegs that might even give 0-5 handicap golfers a bit of trouble. I played in the morning at 7am and most golfing packs were moving at a good pace so I was able to finish under 2 hours before work. The rate is a bargain for 9 holes if you're a Mountain View resident at $18 while $25 for non residents. Hopefully all golfers who visit this course keep it beautiful because I know I definitely will make this a weekday favorite.

I recently relocated to the bay area and decided to take up biking on a leisure level. I visited The Off Ramp with with a friend who would be considered an intermediate to advanced bicycle enthusiast to help me purchase a mediocre all-purpose bike. The sales people were very helpful and able to explain certain bicycles and features at both my comprehension level and at my friend's level. I ended up purchasing a very comfortable bike and have been able to establish a good relationship with the store. I even came back a couple weeks later to help fix one of the tire tubes and they were able to assist me free of charge. While my friend says the prices are a little bit above average, the staff is very forward and they do a great job of trying to find a bike to meet your needs at your price range.

My senior year in high school I did slalom skiing for my ski racing team. I have always been skiing for most of my life since I was 5 and have always thought I knew everything there was to know about skiing. When I visited Don Thomas, I was really humbled. The staff is knowledgable beyond their years. I was very amazed at just how technical they were when it came to assisting me. It was no wonder my racing coach recommended this place. I mostly came for tuning but I noticed that they had a nice stock of skiis and bindings and boots. Once I came here in the middle of ski season, and they were able to give me a same day edge sharpening and wax job! That is unheard of in Michigan during ski season. I even brough an old pair of skiis that were severely damaged by rust and they did a great job in restoring it. You know your skiis are getting the attention they deserve when you leave them here. They also sell womens apparel to my knowledge.
