Best

Visited New Orleans for about 1 week. Went here twice. Food is southern, inexpensive and tasty. Pros: Great Customer Service and Food Cons: can get crowded

Worst

ugh, we rushed to make it to mother's by their 10pm closing and frankly I was not impressed. The $12.50 po'boy tasted like frozen fried shrimp on a bun. The other choices looked...

Not too many locals. 8/27/2003

I live in New Orleans and found Mother's to be a restaurant that mainly catered to tourist and conventioneers. The food was OK and the service was adequate; albeit a little rowdy and pushy, but many restaurants locally offer better value and food. Pros: tourist convenient, local food Cons: poor value, service pushy more

Lamprx 8/17/2003

Mother's was highly recomended by a local artist. We were very disappointed. With four of us ordering on the same ticket none of the meals came out at the same time, my daughter's turkey sandwich was ordinary at best, my oysters were plentiful but had little flavor and were lukewarm with a scoop of cool-room temperature potato salad. My son's catfish was good, my wife at first was delivered the wrong salad and when that was corrected the dressing was room temperature and 3 of the 4 tomato wedges on her salad were rotten. A major disappointment for the money spent. Pros: price Cons: quality more

Overpriced Mother's 8/13/2003

A once great restaurant with good food for a good value, Mother's has become just another tourist attraction looking for the quick buck. The meals are now way over priced and the quality as deteriorated. Cons: Overpriced, cluttered more

A World Apart 7/11/2003

The last time I was home (grew up in Midcity and River Ridge), I noticed there was a Subway around the corner. Why on earth would anyone choose Subway with Mother's around the corner is beyond comprehension! The food is great, always has been, the atmosphere and the servers' attitudes--just part of the unique flavor of this place. It is a must everytime I go home. I agree with the poster who is from N.O. and lives in CA (sorry)-it is worth waiting in line. The bread pudding is the best I have ever had--anywhere. The poster from New York--well, sorry fella, but part of what makes N.O. unique is places like this! The portions that you get for what some feel is too expensive--well good luck in getting the quality and portions that size anywhere else. You want fancy, then you went to the wrong place. Pros: food, portions, inexpensive Cons: How can you find any? more

what is the big deal 6/23/2003

ugh, we rushed to make it to mother's by their 10pm closing and frankly I was not impressed. The $12.50 po'boy tasted like frozen fried shrimp on a bun. The other choices looked better! more

Go to Mother's for Great Food 6/1/2003

We recently went to Mother's over Memorial Day weekend. The place was great. My friends got po'boys that were awesome. I got an omlet and home-made biscuits. The biscuits were ther best I'd ever had! We had to wait 20 minutes to get in, but it was worth the wait! Pros: Good food, Down-home Atmosphere more

Great Food Great Time 5/31/2003

I had a great meal here, very filling. Ya'll got try Mea's Omolette! It awseome, Gumbo and their famous Bloody Marys aint bad either. Pros: Cheap, Great Location, Great staff Cons: Crowds (mardigras) more

Mother's ~ 3 Meals At Day! 2/10/2003

Love it! Love It! Love It! A trip to New Orleans is not complete with a meal at Mother's! Pros: Food is awesome! Cons: Waiting in line more

Great Food but Pricey 2/7/2003

Absolutely the best meat po-boys in the City, but be prepared to pay for them. All the other food is good, also, especially the breakfasts. Some tourists, but loads of locals. Pros: Great Location, Perfect New Orleans, Traditional Favorite Cons: Ain't Cheap, Ain't Cheap, Ain't Cheap more

Good home cooked and authentic food 2/7/2003

Vegetables are great and so is the jambalaya. Can get very crowded and touristy. Ferdi Special is great and very sloppy. You go through a service type line to select your food. more

loved it! 2/7/2003

My husband and were in N.O. last August and had the chance to eat at Mother's. It was great. The food was so good and the people working there were indifferent to everyone (almost rude). We loved it!! I would highly recommend stopping by for breakfast. more

Down-home cajun goodness 2/6/2003

First time visitor. Will definitely return! Was only able to enjoy Mother's and Cafe de Monde for the day. My opinion is we went to the best two restaurants in town. Two of my friends were with me and I know they agree. Would love some more Beans & Rice right now!!! Karen, Kathy & Shirley from Ohio!!!! 1-25-03 to 1-26-03 Pros: Inexpensive, Great location, Great food more

Not all that 2/5/2003

Over priced but the original po'boy with the debris was good. Not clean at all, long wait, service sucked. Name only draws the crowd...not the food. Cons: Long lines, Over priced, Over rated more

Cheap Eats??No Way 1/29/2003

Unless you think $12 for a po-boy sandwich is a good deal......way too-pricey for most locals....they do alot of tourists more

Made with love! 1/25/2003

Mother's cooking rocks! I had fried chicken, turnip greens and dirty rice--and could have gone back for every meal. They make a mean bloody mary, too. more

Must Try! 1/22/2003

Best Po-Boys! Get there early for Breakfast or you will be waiting outside in line! The food is worth the wait! Pros: Inexpensive, Great Food Cons: Crowded more

Mother's 1/13/2003

It is mandatory to cure your Bourbon Street hangover at Mothers with a big breakfast. Try ham & eggs with grits and biscuits and plenty of Tabasco and a Bloody Mary or two to wash it all down. Show up around 10AM to avoid the longest lines. Pros: grub Cons: lines more

No One's Mother's 1/10/2003

You get get better roast beef po-boys and all of their other foods for much cheaper than at Mother's. It's a tourist trap. Pros: Good Debris Sandwich Cons: Very Expensive more

holy mothers 1/10/2003

I dream about these sandwiches. My husband and I hit this place whenever we manage to get to New Orleans. If you are in the French Quarter you must experience Mothers. I did not believe it until I had a sanwich and I was sold!! more

not impressed 1/9/2003

I had an omelette that was undercooked (eggs were runny) yet expensive and the service was really quite poor. I'd recommend the Clover Grill over this joint. more
