Misal Of India West

Don't be a single woman going to this restaurant! They are VERY Indian in that respect! HUM, I thought I was in the USA, Oklahoma at that!!!!! Won't be back! more

We would tend to be somewhat lost if confronted with a menu in this Indian restaurant or likely any other. However, we gleefully patronize the luncheon buffet because, for all the confusion which might be experienced with ordering from a menu, all we have to do is follow our senses and experience a flavor bonanza in this modest but wholly satisfying luncheon buffet experience. more

I really enjoy eating at Misal's. I have never personally had a problem with the service and love the food. A big complaint I hear from others is that its too americanized and it definitely is to a degree but I don't see that as a bad thing. When I want purely traditional Indian dishes there are other restaurants for those occassions. The tastes of Misal set it apart from other Indian restaurants. They have a great buffet and have won several awards for it. I especially love their tandoori chicken and their lebanese tea flavored with rose! more

My husband and I took our family from out of town to eat at Misal last night ( 3/7/08). As Indians ourselves, we were very impressed with how the place was decorated. The owner was working as a host and he greeted us with a not so friendly face. We ignored it and sat down when we were seated. As soon as we sat down a waitress brought us menus and five glasses of water and left. I asked her if we could have straws and she brought me one straw. My husband asked her again if we could have more straws and she brought him another one. Then no one came to check on us for a long time. During this long wait the owner have been going around every single table and talking to customers except to our table. Then we notice that we were the only colored customers in that restaurant. The staff and owner continued to ignore us for another 10 minutes or so. Finally my brother-in-law got tired and went up to one of the staff and said we are ready to order. Then a staff came and took our order. Interestingly, by this time people who came after us got their food. The way the owner was acting convinced us that they go their food because they are ?white? ( I?ve grown up in United States and never felt like I have been discriminated before). Twenty minutes passed, thirty minutes passed, forty minutes passed and finally my husband went up to the owner and asked him why it is taking so long for us to get our food. He said it usually takes 30-40 minutes and he asked him why those who came 30 minutes after us got their food and finished eating and left and he had no answer. After waiting for 50 minutes we were so happy and thankful to receive our food. Then the waiter brought a dessert and said it was on the house, but that was not enough not make up for discriminating against us and treating us with no respect. The food did not taste authentic at all. It was very fake and I can?t believe I wasted and hour and half of my life at this place! Pros: Looks Cons: Horrible service, food is not great at all more

The restaurant is clean with a wonderful ambience. Except on Fridays, the waiteress are prompt and friendly. The Lunch Buffet gives you a taste of the kind of food they serve. The food isn't exactly Indian. Sort of like a fusion of European, Indian, Persian styles. Highly recommended for those being just introduced to Indian food. First thing you would notice is nice interior. Whoever designed pays attention in detail. Food and service are nice as well, at such a low price. Waitstaff are cute :) Pros: food, price, service more
