Great Authentic Italian Food 7/22/2011

Had a wonderful evening out with my family. The wine list was very extensive but the knowledge of the staff helped me to navigate through both the wine list and the food menu. The menu was varied but simple. Great AUTHENTIC Italian food. As each dish is made to order, a little variation was not an issue. Will definitely return with business meetings or family. more

We LOVE Matteo's!!!!!! 7/17/2011

When my friends invited me out to dinner - in downtown Noblesville - I admit to being skeptical. I usually eat downtown Indy or in Broadripple, and had not been to the Noblesville Square in a while. I was totally blown away. The restaurant is in an amazing old building, and is decorated like something from an old movie. The hostess was (I learned later) actually the owner of the place, and her husband is the chef (actually from Italy and went to culinary school there). How often is that the case? Anyway, I had their drink special of the night, a Limoncello Lemonade, which was really good and the bread and dipping oil was to die for. Our server was reallly knowledgable about the menu/wines etc and she was attentive and very good. I had the ravioli and some spumoni ice cream for dessert. The food was great - I also tried my friends' food, and everyone was really happy. We had a great girls' night out! We are already planning our next visit! more

Welcome to Italy! 7/16/2011

My husband and I went to Matteo's last Friday evening for the first time. As someone who indulges in Italian food often, this is the best this town how to offer! Not only was the food exceptional, the service was top notch. We were walked through the menu, entree by entree, to ensure we understood exactly what we were getting and what each dish had to offer. Everything on the menu is homemade and you can really taste that in each of the unique menu choices. I opted for the homemade Gnocchi, while my husband ordered the Filet wrapped in a puff pastry. Both dishes were exceptional and lit up my taste buds. At the end of the meal, we were greeted by the chef, who thanked us for visit. The service was great, ambiance soothing and relaxing, and the food, out of this world. We will definitely be back! more

Best Italian Restaurant in the Indy area 10/12/2009

The minute you walk in the door you feel like you have entered a restaurant in Chicago or New York. I have been to many Italian restaurants and can honestly say that Matteo's is my favorite. The food is incredible and the servers are very polite. Great place for a romantic dinner. Pros: Excellent Food and Servers Cons: Too Full When I Leave more

Great Food, relaxed atmosphere 4/25/2009

I had a wonderful time here. I'm Italian, and my standard for real, Italian food is high. The salad was out of this world. All of the sauces and dressings are fresh and made in house. The service was solid. The food was spectacular. I ordered something that wasn't even on the menu, and the chef prepared if for me...no problem. Pros: Food, wine more

Worst Italian ever! 2/10/2009

First and last time EVER setting foot in this restaurant. We went here for my mom's birthday last year in March and it was the worst dining experience I have ever had! I usually don't write these sort of reviews but, knowing how outrageously over-priced this scam of a place is, I would love to save even just one person their hard-earned money and highly suggest that it would be better spent at Fazoli's. Aside from the Mario-brothers looking waiter being extremely rude and condescending, the food was dreadful. I ordered the nightly special, which I have had many many times at other restaurants. Traditionally this dish is comprised of scallops, mussels, prawns, clams and calamari. This dish came out looking like linguini with red sauce. When I asked the server where the seafood was, he proudly boasted that it was pureed in the sauce. This statement is laughable considering no self-respecting Italian would puree ""jumbo shrimp"" as it was so described. Are you kidding me? For $19? So, after I requested to see a menu to order something else, I chose a ravioli with a pesto cream sauce hoping it would be a safe bet. The server looked at me and said ""Oh, going with a cream sauce now?"" as if I was trying to get as many free dishes as I could out of them. The ravioli was sub-par and mostly because I had been so insulted. The chef came out and glared at me from the kitchen door. To top the night off the arrogant server looked at me and said ""I'm sorry the dish you ordered was beyond your realm of expectations"", which not only made no sense, was horribly offensive. Fuming mad, I should have spoken to the manager. But honestly, I wanted to get out of their as soon as possible. And, seeing the other reviews, it may not have made much difference. Save your money and eat at Sangiovese! Pros: NONE! Cons: Everything...starting from when you walk in the door. more

1 Star because I have to 12/29/2008

Terrible. My wife and I have been there 3 times, and it just gets worse. The service is horrible and the wait staff is snotty and rude. Pros: nothing good to say Cons: food, service, waitstaff, hostess: I have nothing but bad things to say about this restaurant more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER ! 11/20/2008

Because of our POLITELY giving back a french onion soup that was ridiculously horrible - (it was a cloudy, chicken gravy colored, bland broth, served on a PLATE, with a burnt piece of texas toast under swiss cheese - honestly it did not smell or taste even remotely close to a french onion soup), a waitress had made it a point to stare us down with an extremely nasty look on her face as she walked by shortly after we gave the soup back - and this was not a quick snide look, this was an extended turning her head as she walked ""I will spare no expense at making you feel uncomfortable stare, to let you know I want to sp-t in your face"" look.Being the second (in a row) experience here with rude and nasty staff - I ask for the manager to request this person stay clear of us while we finish our meal - we get the co-owner - who I found out actually made the science project of a soup, who is just as ignorant as the waitress, and cares only about her hurt feelings of our not eating the soup. I explain to her that should the waitress repeat what she did - I would give her a piece of my mind, so please keep her away from us.Instead of her taking our word as the customer, she accuses us of being ridiculous, and basically tells me just to pay my bill and leave or she is calling the police.Yes, if you can believe that - that is her response, and know I am not a snide teenager - I am a well respected business owner in Carmel who in the last year has spent $18,000 dining out.The night summed up - we politely returned a horrible dish, were then treated with complete disrespect and rudeness, and told to pay our bill and leave. The other owner (Matteo) attempted to smooth it over, however, the co-owner, and creator of the french onion nightmare said, verbatim ""Matteo, they said they'll never come here again so who cares, let them pay and leave"".GREAT ATTITUDEWith hundreds of restaurants in Indianapolis - choose ANY one of them - and you'll do better! Pros: That we know never to come here again Cons: Unbelievably rude, ill mannered, ignorant staff - burger king has friendlier staff ! more

Very Good Food brought by a GREAT Server 10/21/2007

I really like this restaurant. My husband and I go there about every week, and I keep meaning to write a review. Always make sure you sit with Kathy if you can, she's really fun and a great server. Honestly, that's one of the reasons we go so often, even though the food rocks. The spicy shrimp appetizer is great, especially if you like it spicy. The salads are really good, and they always have interesting soups. I always get either the lasagna or the tortellini, and the meat specials are always awesome too. Good luck picking from one of the desserts, they're all good. But if your in a festive mood, get the bananas foster, cooked tableside. It's great for a special occassion. Pros: Service, food Cons: Sometimes hard to get parking, esp on weekends more

Best bread side EVER! 8/24/2006

Along with of couse the obvious great food and great atmosphere Matteo's shows its above and beyond as soon as you get your bread. Along with each basket of bread comes this delicious grilled eggplant. It has pepers and oil on it and it is SO GOOD. I go there just for that some times! Pros: Food, Ambience, Service Cons: Sometimes has fruit flies more

real italian 10/19/2005

This restaurant was a sheet delight! It is wonderful to find a REAL restaurant, not a chain, not a third generation Italian ""chef"" this place is an authentic experience. The chef is from Southern Italy and moved here in the last few years...and the food shows it. I had a wonderful chicken dish with mozzarella cheese and prosciutto ham, the soup and bread was homemade and the wine was perfectly paired by the waiter. If you want to be treated right, eat well and enjoy your night out you need to give Matteo's a try. The ambiance is lovely and the food is even better. I am going again next weekend! Pros: FOOD, Service, Authentic more
