2 year member 5/22/2011

I have been a member 2 years and love this place. Just like any place that hires different employees - you can't blame the entire place of business for what someone did not provide you. Ask yourself, did you communicate with the masseuse or front desk that you wanted deep tissue when you made the appt? If you were on the table one hour and didn't stop them to let them know they were being too light then they can't read your mind. I have probably had over 60 massages in my life and know communication is the key. If you want a great one, see Dan - he is amazing to get the kinks out or whatever. If I want just a relaxing massage and not deep tissue, I ask for all over medium pressure Swedish massage but if they do something I don't like, I tell them and they APPRECIATE the communication beforehand, not after with a bad review. more

Not good massages 1/13/2011

Awful massages. The people just stand there and dont give hard massages as well. Not worth the money more

Disappointment 12/10/2009

I made a same-day appointment for about 2 hours later than my initial call. I arrived a few minutes early and overheard the desk staff calling the masseuse who was scheduled for my massage to see if he was on his way. Apparently he did not know he had an appointment, so he arrived a few minutes late. That was not a very big deal, but seemed unprofessional. The desk staff gossiped about other employees and spent time texting on their personal cell phones. My massage was so-so. I felt like the masseuse didn't use techniques to massage deeper into my knotted muscles. It felt more like a moving jack-hammer than smooth moving pressure. Also, he was sniffling the entire time and sounded a bit stuffed up, which made me feel like I would probably get sick too, though I didn't. The whole experience was a let-down. I will not go back. Pros: same day appointments Cons: late start, unprofessional staff, uncomfortable wating area more

Awesome massage and service! 10/6/2008

Wow! I have been a member here for two years and have enjoyed every relaxing moment! From the warm welcome at the front desk to the fabulous massage table, Massage Envy has been very accomodating and professional. The value is excellent and the ability to book a massage on the weekends and evenings really makes it a great choice for working folks. My massage therapist(Joy) has the best hands in the West.....she really gives a fabulous and very thorough massage. I highly recommend signing up for the monthly massage program. It is so terrific to know that a massage awaits just at the time when one needs it the most. Thanks to everyone at this location for making my massage experience the best. The only problem is that I would like to come even more!!! Maybe someday......for now, keep up the great work! M.Harms more

THE BEST!!! 3/7/2008

This is a thank you note to my Massage Envy friends. Thank you for providing a wonderful atmosphere with a friendly staff. Thank you for making my life easier, easing the stress loads in my life. You make it something I can afford and convenient. This is the best concept to come along since In n Out Burgers. (I love burgers, and if you haven't visited one in CA, AZ or NV, you must!). But I digress. The staff at Massage Envy takes care of me. They are so friendly and accomodating. I have been getting massages there for a few years. I have my favorite therapists, but if they are not available on short notice they have many others that I can get in to see on short notice. And now with more clinics open, if I can't get in the same day I can call one of the others and get in there. And, when I travel to Seattle (or wherever) I can get my $39 massage there! What a concept! Thank you Massage Envy....you're THE BEST! Pros: Price, quality, friendliness, convenience, parking Cons: Haven't found one yet more

Believer in Massage Envy. 1/3/2008

All I can say is that the massages are great, the customer service is great, the affordable price is great, and the atmosphere is great. What more can you ask for? I am a true believer in Massage Envy and will not go anywhere else for my massage needs. Pros: everything more

Highly recommended! 1/3/2008

I had read some of the negative reviews on Massage Envy- Cedar hills, and felt inclined to tell people the truth about Massage Envy. Maybe the people writing the negative reviews were having a bad day and angry about something else but their comments are way off base! I have been going to Massage Envy -Cedar Hills for about 2 years now and have had nothing but excellent massages and excellent customer service. I commend the front desk staff for all their hard work. I usually go in there during the weekends when they seem very busy, and I always am immediately acknowledged with a big smile and "hello". Most of the time they even remember my name and tell me I'm checked in. Makes me feel like I'm "Norm" from "Cheers" but I love it! Anyway...anyone who has not tried out Massage Envy, you are missing out BIG TIME! Pros: friendly staff, experienced massage therapists, affordability. Cons: NONE! more

Poor attitude of receptionists 12/21/2007

Making an appointment here is like making an appointment at an HMO. The receptionist, Mia (pronounced Meeya), was incompetent (had difficulty reading the therapist's schedules and finding my name, even though I have been going there for over 1 1/2 years) and when I asked if she was new, she responded in a snotty and defensive tone as if I was at fault. If you call there and get her on the phone, ask for someone else. I've noticed that the front office staff is getting worse. I only continue to go because of Trisha, who is a fantastic deep tissue massage therapist. If she leaves, so will I, because the rest are pretty mediocre and I don't need to pay for attitude from the receptionists. more

Beware Massage Envy! 12/7/2007

I had a really bad experience with massage envy from the get go. First they had me sign up to draft my account and told me it was a month to month contract. Once I realized the massage therapists were not very good and very unprofessional I went to cancel and found out I had signed a year contract (my bad I should have read the contract). I tollerated a years worth of bad massages and then when I cancelled they continued to draft my account. I took a great deal of time and effort to get them to stop and refund my money. Then they refused to honor the massages I had paid for but not used yet. This is a very shady company to do business with and sadly they don even give good massages! You don't go to Mcdonald's to get a great meal so don't go to Massage Envy to get a great massage! Pros: None Cons: Dishonest, unprofessional, poor massage more

Ok massage, but "mandatory" tipping. 6/21/2007

So far, I have had 2 appointments at this particular establishment. Both therapists I had were new, graduated from massage school within the last year. The clinic appeared clean and simple. The quality of massage was so-so, even though I was very clear as to what I expected. I don't think I am cheap, but seriously did not enjoy the constant reminders to tip. I would advise Massage Envy to train their front desk staff to be pleasant and polite regardless of the amount of the tip. Please don't pressure people to do this. I would rather have it incorporated into the price rather than pressured to give a set amount for a tip, just because I don't like being pressured. Other than my comment about the 3 tipping guideline signs per room and 2 at the front desk, the place seemed ok. Pros: Number of available appts., convenient locations Cons: After 1 visit, you will memorize the tipping guidelines. more

Great Experience All Around! 5/1/2007

My wife had told me about how great Massage Envy was and insisted I try them out so that we could join the membership together. I was a little hesitant because I can be very particuliar when it comes to massage. I was afraid that it was going to be more of a clinic type atmosphere rather than a relaxing spa which I prefer. I am also very picky when it comes to therapists. I have been getting massages for years and am very particuliar. I walked in very surprised to find such a relaxing ambience with music playing and candles lit. When I walked in, the receptionist greeted me with a huge smile and welcomed me to Massage Envy. As I sat waiting for my massage, the receptionist brought me green tea to sip while I ate chocolates that they had in bowls. As I waited for my therapist, the receptionist informed me about their wellness program. I was so surprised at what a great deal it was but was a little skeptical since I hadn't had my massage yet. Needless to say, it was the BEST massage that I have ever had. My therapist was not only extremely knowledgeable about massage but honestly concerned with my needs. I have had upper back problems for years, and never felt relief until now. The most surprising thing was after the massage, rather than quickly sending me on my way, she explained to me some stretches that I should do to help relieve some of the strain in my back. I was so pleased with my experience at Massage Envy that I signed up myself and my wife for the membership. My wife was right again. (She made sure I mentioned that!) Pros: customer service, therapist, atmosphere, parking Cons: none more

Great Value, Great Experience! 5/1/2007

This establishment was wonderful! The staff up front catered to my every need. The hot tea and chocolates that were offered before my massage were very welcoming and the candle lit room that they call the "Quiet Room " was so peaceful to sit in after my massage. The concept of a membership at a massage clinic was explained to my thoroughly and I will definetly be back again! My massage therapist listened to my needs and requests and seemed very knowledgable when it came to relieving my stress. I would reccommend trying this place out to everyone I know! Thank you, One satisfied customer Pros: Easy to get an appointment, relaxing and friendly enviroment, great massage therapists! Cons: Once you have experienced Massage Envy you will want to go back every day! more

disappointing 4/20/2007

They give a good price for the first time visitor, but unfortunately, you get what you pay for. The therapist I had was nice, but inexperienced, I could never really relax because the touch and the pressure was all over the place. Sometimes painfully hard, sometimes inconsequentially light. The office girl was kind of snotty. I won't go back. I do not recommend it. Pros: parking, availability Cons: customer service and inexperienced practitioner more

Nothing to envy here 4/20/2007

1st clue, when I phoned, the appointment taker was annoyed when I asked questions about type of massage and choice of therapist. I have had a lot of massages, ranging from transforming to deforming! (Don't want any more of the latter!) Usually that sort of response means they don't know anything about massage.... One of my questions was about scents and candle smoke - I have asthma. I was told they don't use candles. I walked into their storefront and there were four or five staff standing at the desk, blocking the way. Nobody responded to me for some time. They have multiple forms to fill out, and the receptionist confronted me rudely, (with most of them still standing there) when I declined to give some unnecessary personal ID on the form. Candles? They have candles smokin' up the place everywhere. In the front office, in the creepy dark pre-session waiting room, in some treatment rooms I passed. Silly me, I'd rather breathe, so I beat it on out of there. Folks, this is a membership place, a McRubby. It tries hard to straddle the line between a spa and Massages-R-us. Their mantra is "We don't care, we don't HAVE TO." Pros: Lots of openings Cons: Rude, Rude more

Great service, outstanding massage! 9/10/2006

I have nothing but great things to say about my experience at Massage Envy. I found them online and was pleasantly surprised that when I called to make an appointment, I was able to get in that same day. Not only was I ecstatic about their hours (until 10 pm on the weekdays!), but I felt so welcome when I walked through the door. The front desk staff was so friendly!!! Also, the atmosphere was NOT that of a clinic but rather a relaxing spa. I was already so happy that I made the decision to go there, and I hadn't even had my massage yet! When my therapist, Joy, came out to greet me, she was so personable and sweet. I consider myself a massage snob, and I can hands down say that this was the BEST massage that I have ever had. Joy truly has the healing touch, and she was so intune with my needs. My experience was so great, that I knew I had to join the membership. What a deal it is!!! It is definately the best deal that I have found! I recommend Massage Envy to EVERYONE I meet because I want everyone to experience what I have. Thank you Massage Envy!!!!!! more

Great inexpensive massages, need work on customer service 8/15/2006

The prices are inexpensive, the availability of appointments often allow for spontaneity, and most of the massages I've had have been excellent. Most of the masseuses I've had are just starting their careers, have varied styles and take the quality of their work seriously -- be sure to tip well because the word is they aren't paid great and you're already getting a good deal. My issue with the place is customer service, largely driven by a really poor computer system and lack of going the extra mile when they make mistakes. For the first several times I went they couldn't find me in the system so I had to wait while they searched. "We'll fix it" was said every time but didn't actually happen for several months. Twice my appointments mysteriously disappeared, even after receiving confirmation calls. While you owe them money if you miss an appointment, you'll get nothing from them if your appointment disappears thanks to their error. The young receptionists aren't really concerned or empowered to do anything about the mistakes -- there are no discounts offered or extra therapists around to make it up -- this is a serious relationship burner. The owners need to rehaul their computer booking and payment system -- it's too complicated and prone to error. I gave them a five only because I feel like I'm taking a risk in making an appointment, but the massages and appointment availability is great and deserves a 9-10. Pros: Quality masseuses building their careers, appointment convenience Cons: Management policies, customer service at the desk more

Don't Waste Your Money 3/28/2005

When I arrived for a Sunday morning appointment, the manager was coughing and hacking so much that it was giving me a headache. The entire set-up was pretty tacky, but I figured, OK I can deal with this to get a good, cheap massage. I arrived at 9:50 for a 10:00 appointment because they told me to get there early. Mark arrived for work at 10:07 and started my massage around 10:10. The massage was not good, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. HOWEVER, he ended the massage at 11:00. I paid for a 60 minute massage and because he arrived late, I was shortchanged. At the front desk I gave him a 12% tip because I was pretty pissed and the girl at the front desk was totally put-off that I gave only a 12% tip. This place needs some class. more

wonderful experience 3/18/2005

If you like massages don't miss Massage Envy. The massages are terrific and what a bargain. They have a large group of massage therapists to choose from, the place is really nice with heated tables, soothing music and the service is excellent. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating. A must for massage lovers. more

Great Place, Great Value 9/21/2004

I came across Massage Envy on Citysearch a week ago and decided to give it a try, I figured for 29.95 for a massage why not. I was very impressed with the service that I received and learned that they are open 7 days a week. I would recommend this place for convenience and their value. Pros: Price, Service, Open 7 days more
