Maryland West Apartments

All 100 apartments are connected by leakey underground pipes to one big swamp cooler near laundry. No air conditioner.Cooling is very slow. Fan blows out cool to warm, high 80% to 90% humidity, dusty, moldy air through vents near ceiling. \r Cooling for ALL apartments broke every month, lasting 3 to 6 days. Temperature inside apartment vary from 75F to 87F depending on outside temperature and HUMIDITY with thermostat set at 70F. You feel sticky, sweaty, sleepy because of high inside 80% to 90% humidity. Air smells moldy( fungus ).\r Most of the tenants use section 8 vouchers (government subsidized) and are minorities. Many apartments are empty because most tenants left because of cooling problems.\r I left because of bad cooling, bad air, noisy neighbors, crime and noisy un-attended kids running around. Apt has exclusive contract with Qwest. Cannot get cheaper better COX, Comcast etc here because of wiring. more

The apartment use central system. You get heating from October to around May, but no cooling. There is no air conditioner inside apartments. It is HOT inside even with the windows open.\r Most of the tenants are government-assisted section 8 and Latinos, with some blacks.\r Maryland West is not far from the other housing projects and section 8 apartments.\r Like Arroyo Palms nearby where the police visited quite often.\r Cars get broken into quite often. more

Maryland West uses evaporative system or swamp cooler.\r Zero air conditioner. The system is switched to heating from October to April, there is no cooling. Renters do not have air conditioners. You have to open the windows to cool, but it gets hot enough that you are sweating inside your apartments.\r Temperatures inside apartments with open windows are around\r 87 to 93 degrees Fahrenheit. There is no cooling until Summer.\r Not recommended. Temperatures inside apartments are HOT !!! more

These apartment homes keep the community involved with activities for our children every holiday and by donating to charities in our area. They are the most helpful apartments I have ever lived in. In a time of need I wouldn't call anyone else, but my apt manager. The prices are also affordable and the rent includes utilities. I have had a great living experience so far and it just keeps getting better. more
